Xbox Originals Coming this June to your Xbox

Today we’ve announced the list of projects slated for the Xbox Originals program. Including details on the documentary that was behind this weekend’s discovery of the Atari E.T. games in a desert landfill.  Starting this June, you’ll have more reasons to love your Xbox: Xbox Originals – premium dramas, comedies, documentaries, animation, unscripted shows, and live events. Available only on Xbox 360, Xbox One, and other Microsoft devices, every Xbox Original will offer interactive capabilities, as well as unique interactive features customized on a per-show basis, making it a one-of-a-kind entertainment experience you won’t find anywhere else.

Committed Projects

“Halo” television series
The “Halo” television series is a groundbreaking original series based on the award-winning “Halo” franchise. Award-winning filmmaker, director and producer Steven Spielberg will executive produce the live-action TV series, created in partnership with 343 Industries and Amblin Television.

“Every Street United”
“Every Street United” is an unscripted series of eight, thirty-minute episodes and a one-hour finale, featuring legendary soccer players Thierry Henry and Edgar Davids, focused on the global search for soccer’s most gifted and undiscovered street stars scouted across eight countries (United States, England, Argentina, Spain, Brazil, the Netherlands, Ghana and South Korea). The series culminates this July in a 4v4 street game finale in the shadow of the World Cup in Rio de Janeiro.

Each episode will feature unique and incisive narratives about the grassroots street stars and the communities that shaped them. Industry veteran and eight-time Emmy-Award winning producer, director, writer and editor Jonathan Hock (“Streetball,” “30 for 30: The Best That Never Was”) is directing the series. Emmy-Award winning producer Mike Tollin and Mandalay Sports Media are executive producing. Professional soccer luminaries, Henry and Davids, will serve as coaches for the 4v4 street game in Rio. “Every Street United” will premiere in June 2014. All episodes will be available through Xbox Video for Xbox One, Xbox 360, Windows 8 (PC and Surface) and Windows Phone 8.

Bonnaroo
Xbox owners around the globe can experience the magic of the 13th annual Bonnaroo music and arts festival with a live concert destination on Xbox Live Friday, June 13 through Sunday, June 15, 2014, brought to viewers in partnership with Superfly Presents. With the Bonnaroo app, fans can enjoy live music like never before, with a virtual experience featuring the best performances, multiple stages, biggest artists and amazing SuperJams, and explore this year’s lineup to see the best of Bonnaroo’s past with exclusive performances. Fans can also join the conversation with fellow virtual-Bonnaroovians and get connected to their friends and the festival. Xbox is the exclusive broadcasting partner for Bonnaroo and the only location to get all of the interactive features.

“Signal to Noise”/“Atari: Game Over”
Xbox is creating a new six film documentary series, “Signal to Noise,” (working title) with two-time Academy Award winning producer Simon Chinn (“Searching for Sugar Man” and “Man on Wire”) and Emmy winning producer Jonathan Chinn (FX’s “30 Days” and PBS’s “American High”), through their multi-platform media company, Lightbox. The series will expose little known stories of how modern technology has radically altered the way we interact with our world.

The first installment, “Atari: Game Over” (working title), explores the fabled Atari mystery, dubbed “The Great Video Game Burial of 1983.” As the legend goes, the Atari Corporation, faced with overwhelmingly negative response to the E.T. video game, disposed of millions of unsold game cartridges by burying them in the small town of Alamogordo, New Mexico. Fuel Entertainment took an interest in the legend, and in December 2013, with help from local garbage contractor Joe Lewandowski, acquired the exclusive rights to excavate the Alamogordo landfill. Fuel Entertainment then brought the opportunity to Xbox Entertainment Studios. The team will head to the landfill in question to determine if the story is true, interviewing a cast of characters related to the game and its mystery along the way. “Atari: Game Over” is directed by writer/director Zak Penn (“X-Men 2,” “Avengers,” and “Incident at Loch Ness”). It will air exclusively on Xbox One and Xbox 360 in 2014.

“Humans”
“Humans” is a bold new drama co-produced with UK broadcaster Channel 4. Award-winning UK production company Kudos (“The Hour,” “Utopia,” “Broadchurch”) will produce the hour-long, eight-episode series, which will share a premiere broadcast window on the Xbox platform and Channel 4 in the UK in 2015.

Executive produced by Jane Featherstone (“Life on Mars,” “Broadchurch”) and Derek Wax (“The Hour,” “Sex Traffic”), and written by British writing team Sam Vincent and Jonathan Brackley (“Spooks,” “Spooks: The Greater Good”), “Humans” is an English-language adaptation of Sveriges Television and Matador Film’s acclaimed Swedish series, “Real Humans.” “Humans” is set in a parallel present where the latest must-have gadget for any busy family is a ‘Synth’ – a highly-developed robotic servant eerily similar to its live counterpart. In the hope of transforming the way they live, one strained suburban family purchases a refurbished synth only to discover that sharing life with a machine has far-reaching and chilling consequences. Casting for “Humans” will begin in May 2014, and production will commence later this summer.

“Halo” digital feature
343 Industries and Scott Free Productions are creating a “Halo” digital feature to be released later this year. The project will be executive produced by Ridley Scott and Scott Free TV President, David Zucker. Sergio Mimica-Gezzan (“Battlestar Galactica,” “Pillars of the Earth,” “Heroes”) will direct.

Projects in Development

“Deadlands”
Xbox Entertainment Studios has committed to a script based on the successful pen-and-paper role playing game created by Shane Lacy Hensley. “Deadlands” is a genre-bending alternative history of the Weird West, filled with undead gunfighters, card-slinging sorcerers, mad scientists, secret societies, and fearsome abominations.

“Extraordinary Believers”
Xbox Entertainment Studios is developing an innovative, hybrid stop-motion show dubbed “Extraordinary Believers” (working title) with Stoopid Buddy Stoodios, creators of the Emmy-Award winning “Robot Chicken,” the longest running stop-motion show on television. The executive producers on the project are Seth Green, Matt Senreich, and creators/writers/executive producers are Eric Towner and John Harvatine IV.

“Fearless”
“Fearless,” (working title) is an unscripted series currently in pilot production starring Paul de Gelder, an Australian Navy bomb clearance diver and shark attack survivor who takes on an adrenaline-fueled quest to aid individuals who risk their lives to make the world a better place. “Fearless” will be produced by Australia’s International Emmy-Award winning production company, Cordell Jigsaw Zapruder (CJZ).

“Gun Machine”
Xbox Entertainment Studios acquired the rights to “Gun Machine,” a hardboiled detective thriller based on the New York Times bestselling novel by Warren Ellis. Ellis will executive produce with Brett Conrad (“The Killing,” “Sons of Anarchy,” Netflix’s upcoming “Marco Polo”) who has signed on to write the pilot script about a detective tracking a serial killer who is tied to a mysterious collection of guns used in infamous New York murders.

Untitled JASH Comedy/Variety Half Hour
In this unique comedy format developed by Xbox Entertainment Studios with JASH (a comedy collective founded by Sarah Silverman, Michael Cera, Tim and Eric and Reggie Watts), the biggest names in comedy will showcase the people that make them laugh. Each week, a different comedian will host/curate a show featuring new and unsung talent, in various video formats. Sarah Silverman will host the pilot episode and Daniel Kellison (“Late Night/Late Show with David Letterman,” “Jimmy Kimmel Live,” “Crank Yankers”) will executive produce. The series has a pilot commitment and will begin shooting in June.

“Winterworld”
Xbox Entertainment Studios and IDW Entertainment are co-developing a limited event live-action series based on Chuck Dixon and artist Jorge Zaffino’s seminal graphic novel series “Winterworld,” in which our world has been encased in ice from pole-to-pole. The surviving humans have formed tribes that war, enslave and trade with one another in an effort to survive the infinite winter. Ted Adams and David Ozer from IDW Entertainment, and Rick Jacobs and Dave Alpert from Circle of Confusion (“Walking Dead”) will executive produce.

  • evilfangs .

Unless they’re including with my Gold membership then I’ll pass. I get all my TV and movies for free, power of the internet.

    • Gazza!!!

Was just about to ask the same question, they really need to be included with Gold rather than exclusive to Gold.

  • Richard

This is cool but I’m disapointed. I first thought this article was talking about the ‘xbox original games’. And then I saw Halo, but soon realized these are all films. Still awesome but wow.

  • Guest

Am I the only one that just wants to play game’s on my console, I feel as though all this time, money and effort spent on creating television series and “original” programming on a game console is a waste on resources and talent that could be spent on creating games that one would want to play on a game console.

    • Shomberlon

I disagree, not one person involved in making games will be involved in making a TV show. It is therefore not a waste of talent, if anything it is a chance for someone to show what they can do that might not get a chance on regular TV. My only hope is that it’s the same quality of programmes that Netflix and Amazon Prime have with their original series.

      • elMORRO

They could have been pumping all those millions of cash money into forming new promising game studious and developing new exclusive AAA IP’s, instead of spending their money on the periphery features that would never be supported in most countries of the world, which would still be charged for them as a part of the product & service.

    • Michael Košut

If you want just games there’s Ps ….but….without games lol. Xbox was always about everything multimedia related with main focus on games. Deal with it or leave it ;-)

      • mauszx

SO everyone is ignoring the indie titles or what?

        • Shakeslikecrazy

If people buy a console for indie games that will almost always be better and cheaper on PC, then they are really desperate.
I’m not saying all indie games are junk, that would be a lie as there are a few gems out there, but Sony’s raking in the shovelware just so they can have more titles.

          • mauszx

Yeah indies don’t sell consoles, but the point here is ps4 doesn’t have games and it does. Yeah most of the indie are in PC as well, but if you ask me, i rather buy those games on a console than a PC, that said I wouldn’t buy a console for indie games, but once I have the console, yeah I would buy the indies on a console, because i preffer playing on a console.

    • Michael Burden

If you want a console that only plays games, you have several options: Atari VCS/2600, 5200, 7800, Jaguar, Intellivision, Nintendo NES, Super Nintendo, N64, Gamecube, Sega Master System, Genesis, 32x – pretty much everything else has other multimedia or computing functions with gaming as well (left off Colecovision because you could turn it into an Adam computer with add-ons, making it more than a games console).

ALL of SONY’s game products have multimedia functions – CD playback, DVD/BluRay playback, and streaming apps. And in case you haven’t heard, SONY is prepping their own TV program options as well so don’t pretend like the PS4 is only a game console.

      • mauszx

Sony has TV already man, just like music and other things, you know breaking bad? that is from sony. The new Spiderman movie? Sony, they can work on making an app for streaming their programs and that will not take a lot of time and money from sony because they have already working with tv, music and movies. While MS has never worked in that, this means a lot of money that could be into xbox for games will be for tv.

        • Shakeslikecrazy

Yeah, Spider Man should return to Marvel so it can be integrated into the awesome cinematic universe as Sony’s really milking the franchise with poor results. They already did a trilogy less than a decade ago and even had to use its font for the PS3. That’s how pathetically original Sony is and ASM2 doesn’t look that great.

          • mauszx

Poor results? The first trilogy of spiderman made them a TON of money, yeah those movies were just good for the visuals, but I blame Toby Maguire. That said in my opinion the last 2 movies have been great, so even if you said they should return they are still making that movie. Also that was an example saying that sony has been on the tv and movie business for a long time, meaning they won’t changes their focus on games because they don’t need to, they are not saying TV is the future or anything.

  • http://www.trueachievements.com/Samba+P.htm Andreas

As a big Henry and Davids fan I’m really looking forward to “Every Street United” and as a Swede I have heard some good stuff about Humans. But yeah this needs to be included in the Gold membership.

  • Some guy

For a second I thought it meant full Xbox original games backward compatibility and had a glimpse of hope that MS finally came to its senses.
Should have seen it coming, I’m out of here.

    • Michael Košut

They are probably working on it. I just can’t have everything now, patience is a virtue.

    • andy

But but but they are listening right? They added a standard battery indicator so they are listening right, RIGHT???

    • dibils

ahm i dont want xbox original games, i hate all these backwards looking gamers

      • Professor Oak

Um backwards gamers? Are you saying it is wrong to want to play classics?

    • Does Not Equal

      Bye!

  • Matthew Bunton

What about those outside of the US?

Also will there be additional costs to us associated with these titles?

    • Shomberlon

As they’ll be owned by Microsoft I don’t think the same rules apply like they do with things owned by companies such as HBO. Microsoft can distribute the content worldwide and not be restricted to the same licencing because it’s going on the xbox, not to other channels.

  • Jorge Garza

I wonder if this is going to be free for Xbox Live Gold members…

  • Danny Hogan

How much is this gonna cost me?

  • Some guy

There’s rumors that the 2nd GwG of may will be Dust: An Elysian tale.
For those who never heard of it, the game was on sale for 3$ 2 months ago.
Why MS think putting a game on sale a few months before giving it for free is a good idea for the customer.(Because I’m sure not having to give it to free for those who bought it last sale make MS more then happy) Or maybe they just don’t care at this point?

    • vai_levar_no_cu

so far you only have rumors to be upset about. wait & see

    • Does Not Equal

What does this have to do with the Xbox original programming?

      • Some guy

People ask what is the next GwG because MS is too lazy to tell us so someone has to do it.

        • Does Not Equal

I don’t think anyone actually HAS to do it. Just wait the few days.

          • Some guy

People might buy the game before the GwG, it’s not a fun thing to do.

          • Does Not Equal

            Again, patience.

          • Professor Oak

Again, stop telling people what they can and cannot post, this is a blog for OPEN discussion

          • Does Not Equal

            Where’s it say that?

          • Professor Oak

            “What does this…”

          • Does Not Equal

Meaningless. Now show me where I told you what you could do.

          • Professor Oak

Im done arguing with someone who doesn’t know what he is talking about, good day sir. You Does Not Equal anything to me sir

  • Bush

    The “Halo” television series

i thought this would be a good idea a few years ago but after watching Forward Unto Dawn not so much. it was great until the chief showed up. cringe worthy tv at it’s best. he looked stupid running around. better off keeping him in games or CGI movies. not live action films.

    • Shomberlon

I’d rather it be set in the Halo universe than centred around Master Chief.

      • Bush

and CGI at that. honestly the chief just looks plain wrong for live action. it will be even worse if they use the dude bro cast of Halo4 i hated every single one of those.

with Spielberg on board it is going to be about some annoying children.

  • Professor Oak

Is this to be exclusive to Xbox one, I sure hope not… I would love to see the Halo series on my 360, Forward unto Dawn wasn’t bad, it just really seamed under funded.

    • vai_levar_no_cu

as said in the beginning, its coming to every xbox device

      • Professor Oak

Someone did not read the bottom line before commenting

  • The Yankee

“I’m I the only one who wants to play games on my console???” Really? So you’re saying your Xbox one doesn’t play games? Weird the PS4 was slates last E3 as “the console built by gamers for gamers” …6 months into the next gen console yet the “TV console” has more exclusives titles. PS4 has about 90% of the video apps and movie watching capabilities along why SONY STUDIOS and yet Sony still pulls the wool over all these “gamers” as the console for “gamers”… Keep drinking the kool-aid…

    • WARLORD

I think you have been drinking the koll-aid lol. Currently PS4 has 61 different game you can play along with 17 apps for video, Xbox one has 40 different game and 21 app for video.

      • The Yankee

What part of EXCLUSIVES did you not understand?

        • WARLORD

I was manly commenting on your rant of ”
PS4 has about(( 90%)) of the video apps” my point was PS4 has barley %20 video apps compared to game available and xbox one has %50 compared to game available.

          • The Yankee

17 to 21 and you get 20%? Not only can’t you read but, I see your math skills are terrible as well…move along…your skills at posting a comment are prepubescent at best…go play Knack or Kiilzone I’m sure the servers are missing their idiot…

          • ElektroDragon

            You need to stop.

          • The Yankee

You need to go F@$k yourself…

          • ElektroDragon

So first you say that my “ability to retort on comments comes with a rather monosyllabic tone”. Then YOU come back with THIS? Priceless.

          • Does Not Equal

            Technically, “yourself” has two syllables.

          • WARLORD

I’m good I’d rather play the not so exclusives title Titianfall on my PC.

    • mauszx

Are we talking console exclusives (by that I mean not counting PC) or are we talking Exclusives Exclusives like “this game is only on this console or company” Because even if you count only exclusives exclusives I think they are almost tied, if not sony winning by a little bit.

  • http://www.yakkowarner.com/ Yakko Warner

The Engadget article says “The only certainty right now is that all Xbox Live Gold members will get all Xbox Entertainment Studios content for free”, but I haven’t seen their source for this. Has there been an official announcement?

    • Marcus Roof

if they force an extra fee for these, literally no one would pay it…

  • Death Dealer

Wait, you’re calling it Xbox Originals? Are you sure you want to call it that after all MS’ other confusing naming conventions as Xbox Originals are mostly known as the Original Xbox games available on Xbox Live?

    Anyway, bring it on!

    • roozbeh, again

Microsoft aren’t known for their product naming.

    • BobTheBus

Thats the same thing I thought when I read “Xbox Originals Coming this June to your Xbox” I imagined they were opening up there back catalog for digital purchase on Xbox.

  • CDMAss

Oh please!!! Always game first?? Have you forgot what you’ve just said last month??? Another huge wrong direction…….

    • roozbeh, again

Does games first necessarily mean no video content? Sony is doing the same. What is different about this?

      • CDMAss

The difference is Sony has gamesssss.

        • roozbeh, again

And MS doesn’t? Hell, I’d go as far to say that MS has better games.

          • Some guy

Yea they have Ryse, Loco Cycle, Fighter within and rushed games everywhere but it’s still better then Knack.

          • mauszx

Are we talking XboxOne PS4 or are you considering 360 and Ps3?
Because ps3 has clearly more games and better games in general. Now in this generation I think the games are ever, the best game for PS4 has been infamous, followed by Killzone probably, while the best for Xbone is PVZ Garden Warfare followed by probably titanfall. That said the worst game on those consoles is clearly Fighter Within probably followed by the other kinect game.

          • Michael Košut

Actually you are wrong because x360 has more exclusives than ps3. Check out some list.

          • CDMAss

            lol

          • mauszx

Maybe on the indie arcade side, and that’s a maybe, because ps3 has a lot of those. On the retail version ps3 has a lot more. Remember most of the exclusives for 360 were just time exclusives. Maybe with some of the god awful kinect games the 360 had more games, but even at that if we talk about quantity/quality ps3 has a full library while the 360 sadly the last 3 or 4 years were awful to mediocre with the exception of Reach.

          • roozbeh, again

            PS4 vs XO.

        • Michael Košut

          LOL.

        • Xhawk27

          Yeah sure it does! haha

    • Michael Košut

Are you serious? I can’t…. It’s a right direction they made with One, they have EVERYTHING. Oh hell, even when you want exclusives now what’s the best Ng console for them? Right, Xbox One. 10+ exclusives. PS4: 4 exclusives. Go figure out.

  • John Smith

I didn’t have high hopes for the idea of MS TV, but some of these look interesting. I await this with cautious optimism.

  • CDMAss

WOW this company~ totally unbelievable!!! just how many mistake you need to wake yourself up??

    • Does Not Equal

How is adding original programming to their existing divisions a mistake?

    • Xhawk27

      Sony is doing the same.

  • ryder4life22187

Here I thought when I read Xbox originals that MS was actually focusing on games for a change but guess not more tv stuff

    • mauszx

I was thinking the same, then I said “maybe they are announcing games and tv…. NOPE. To be fair, this things have been on production for a long time, so even if now they will be focusing in games they can’t just throw this to the garbage.
That said the fact that the Blacktusk studio or whatever the name of that “new studio” is making a new Gears of wars really disappointed me, I thought they will have some new game, new idea, new color for crying out loud, I know Gears are good games, but I feel games are like songs, maybe is a good song, but if you listen to that song in every place you are, odds are you are going to hate the song.

  • deadbox102

I’m looking forward to these, unless MS tacks on another fee to view them. Please get the external storage support finished soon and don’t let up on bringing digital 360 games to the One.

  • roozbeh, again

Really got to pick up the pace MS, these should have been ready on launch.

  • Legion

These will be free to stream for paying Xbox Live members, right? If MS is really trying to create a better value for those with Xboxes, then I hope that would mean that these shows are available to Gold members paying for the Xbox Live service.

This is a cool opportunity. If it doesn’t go well, MS wasted time it could have used to make better games. If it is a success, then MS will have a great platform to stand on in saying that the Xbox One is a must-own console as this generation of console heads to the future. Time will tell.

    • Beluvius

i highly doubt this wiil be free to stream . Most probably you have to pay for it seperatly…

    • John Smith

I would be really surprised if MS charged extra for this as that would appear to be gouging. I would expect this to be included with Live and be used to help sell the console and Live service.

      • Professor Oak

I hope it will be free w/gold, xbox music should be free w/ gold as well

      • teethintored

        You would be surprised? Really?

  • ElektroDragon

So you decided that the best way to compete in the video game market was by becoming HBO and MTV combined? REALLY?

    • The Yankee

Awesome!! You win for the least original comment…So how high is the bridge you live under? Is there other trolls nearby?

      • ElektroDragon

The correct usage is “are there any trolls near by”. As for your question, underneath the bridge the tarp has sprung a leak and the animals I’ve trapped have all become my pets.

        • roozbeh, again

That is a lot of pet food.

        • The Yankee

Please stop… I don’t want to get reported for picking on the anyone who can’t defend themselves. Your ability to retort on comments come with a rather monosyllabic tone. I bid you good day sir…I hope one day the helmet you wear is just by doctor’s order by rather by fashion sense…

        • http://Www.mylifewithgaming.wordpress.com/ Mitchell Hall

Loved it. best comment ever. It’s okay to eat fish cuz they don’t have any feelings.

  • Miles Taven

All you complaining, go do one. Xbox is NOT just a gaming system, this doesn’t mean that it’s detracting from games ect. You’re all so close minded.

Looking forward to some of this because video games isn’t the only medium I’m interested in funnily enough.

  • Beluvius

ok, and now pls tell us: how much of this will be available outside the USA and how will be available in other languages than english… and don’t forget to mention the price tag…

    • Death Dealer

I’m sure they will be (would like some clarification as well), but I guess they will all be subtitled if they are.

    • Michael Košut

They better have subtitles for every country where One is ( including new countries this September).

  • Michael Shelburne

All I needed to know is that the Halo TV show was coming. Now I know. Love you Xbox. Love you.

  • beardyman3218

I can’t believe people are complaining about this, thinking that by doing this there not focusing on games you do realise the people working on this have nothing to do with the games department of Microsoft, it’s not like programmers are going out recording documentaries. Xbox is an entertainment company just like Sony is. All I want to know is how much it will cost and whether the content is discounted or free for gold members.

    • Some guy

We are not complaining about TV, TV, TV, SPORTS, SPORTS, TELEVISION, SPORTS, TV, SPORTS.
If you want to watch TV and sport it’s fine, grab your xbone and enjoy because it’s great console for that.
We are complaining about is the lack of anything else. I won’t make a list of what we want because we’ve been over this already.

      • beardyman3218

My comment was aimed more toward the people insinuating that by doing this stuff they are not focusing on games. Hopefully though the other stuff such as updates to the system should be coming out soon as i believe the next update is due in june.

        • Some guy

Well, it’s true that it doesn’t mean they are not focusing on games.
But really, every news about xbox is either a joke, a disapointement, an insult or TV and that’s why they say it’s not focusing about games.
I don’t even remember when was the last time MS did something right for games. They made an incredible sale just to put the same games in the GwG a few months later.

          • beardyman3218

“I don’t even remember when was the last time MS did something right for games.” To say that is just ridiculous, so they have never done anything right for gaming I mean its not like they have made online gaming what it is today with the launch of xbox live or put money toward publishing some of the greatest games to hit any platform e.g. Halo, Gear of war. Or the indie program their currently running. Or the tv series mentioned above that without them would have probably never have seen the light of day.

          • Some guy

The 360 was cheap built and died a lot for years.
They started Halo then made 4
They started GoW then made Judgement
They started Forza then made 5
All of them were a huge drop in quality.
They also canceled all of their other IP because who needs them if they don’t sell millions.
            They canceled XNA because something.
They still have problem with hard drives.
They made the GwG and start giving old games that everybody had.
All that(And I’m ignoring a few others) came before the One
Then they annonced the one and oh boy oh boy, it was glorious.
So yea, I don’t remember when they last made something right.

          • Gazza!!!

If they have wronged you for so long then why do you care? Why are you even here for that matter, seems a little odd considering they have done nothing right that you can remember.

          • Some guy

Because I still have my 360, playing every exlcusives that came out before 2010 and playing some multi platforms.
Playing EDF 2025 in co-op beat everything.

          • Gazza!!!

Then you would love DR3 in co-op which is a One exclusive, something MS did right recently.

          • Some guy

Didn’t know DR3 had split screen, then I guess they did someth-
Almost felt for it, nice joke.

          • Gazza!!!

Guess online co-op aint your thing, shame.

          • Some guy

Meh, wouldn’t mind paying 2 games, 2 Gold and 2 consoles for online instead of just playing in split screen if it was a stellar game.
            Like Time Splitters 4.
But I’m still curious, what did they add for co-op over DR2? I heard they added Air raids and more cars but that’s about.

          • Gazza!!!

Crazier weapons, massive area and much, much more zombie hordes to rampage through, pure mindless fun.

          • Some guy

Kinda like the zombies and weapons but I prefer the smaller map of DR1 where everything is memorable. (Seriously, I don’t remember a thing of DR2 while I remember almost everything of DR1)
Did they add Co-op only weapons? Like the human slingshot from MGS Peace Walker

          • http://Www.mylifewithgaming.wordpress.com/ Mitchell Hall

You are such a complaining whining jack off. I hated reading that thread so much and now I hate you. Thanks a lot man.

          • Some guy

Saying I want a small sand box with split screen, co-op weapons, zombies is whining?
The only one whining here is you.

          • beardyman3218

Your post makes no sense forza 5 is great, halo 4 wasn’t as good granted but that’s besides the point Microsoft don’t make the game 343 did so its hardly ms fault, they cancelled xna because unity is now being used for 360 and Xbox one, the hard drive update is being worked on, gwg let’s you actually keep the games and I highly doubt everyone on Xbox live already had them because that would mean every game on xbl sold over 40 million copies and as for dropping IPS did you forget they are working on new IPS such as sunset overdrive and quantum break. Your just over sensationalising everything.

          • Some guy

Forza 5 has less content then 4, didn’t look much of a next gen game and patched everything with a 50$ season pass.
Didn’t know unity worked on 360.
The hard drive update is taking years to finish, at this point it’s a joke.
If people didn’t have Halo 3 on their xbox they didn’t want the game in the first place.
Why would I want to keep forever games such as World of kefling, magic and defense grid?

          • Michael Košut

If you are not ok with Xbox then leave. Simple as that. No one hold you here. Xbox is awesome and so our community which is more mature then on other platforms. My opinion of course.

          • Some guy

Well, I thank you for saying that I’m more mature then anyone else on the planet that don’t own a xbox, I’m not sure I get the point of your post. I love the xbox 1 and the xbox 360 but hate the Xbone and I should leave?

          • slasaru

Depends on what sort of content you mean. Speaking of ASSETS, it has ten to twenty times more and the same for developing efforts. But I agree that next forza will be better

          • Some guy

            Forza 4:
            25 tracks
            500 cars
            30$ Season pass

            Forza 5:
            14 tracks
            200 cars
            50$ Season pass

          • slasaru

You don’t see my point: it takes several times more efforts to create one car and one track for next gen because they contain much more data. Making one car for forza 5 is the same as making twenty cars in forza 4, given you also have autovista for each car.

          • Some guy

That’s true, but that’s not my problem.
Usually the point of sequel is to add more, not remove stuff because graphix.
I bought forza 1 and never bought any after because there’s really nothing worth it.(got 2 with the console, got mad they removed the drivatar)

      • slasaru

everything else requires more tome or else you will get another 720p and will be mocked by sonybots

  • vai_levar_no_cu

hope this is free for Gold users… if not, wont care.

  • http://soundcloud.com/ViRUSfromMARS Jaffa Cake King

    I don’t watch TV.

    • Fearful Symmetry

That’s cool, but your ‘not watching’ tv is definitely not due to limited time, you seem to have plenty of that on your hands judging by the comment

      • Professor Oak

TV is dying out, I hardly watch it anyway. Why pay for a service with that you can get on the internet for free, or if you do pay for it, you usually lose the ads. TV networks are paid for on both sides, both by you and companies that want you to see their ads. Heck if you have ad block for Chrome, not only do you avoid ads, you also don’t have to pay for premium to avoid said ads, its a win win for you.

      • http://soundcloud.com/ViRUSfromMARS Jaffa Cake King

        I don’t watch TV.

  • Fearful Symmetry

YES! I’m excited for all that ‘stuff’, but what I’ve really been waiting for is more news on that Halo joint. It got announced and then Microsoft snatched it up and ran under the couch like a ferret with a piece of chicken. I’ve been gaming for 26 years and Halo is by FAR, my favorite series ever, I love that universe and I soak up anything related to it. Thanks Major Nelson, now I can go off to the gym and be happy as I punch people in the face

  • B00ME

So all MS are allowed to do is talk about games? The TV shows can’t be advertised or talked about or it’s seen as focusing on something else even though the Xbox TV division isn’t the same as the gaming division?
It sounds like Sony has what you are looking for, you want nothing but games you’ll enjoy their product more.

  • John Smith

With MS dedicated to the One being an all-in-one entertainment powerhouse, I really hope we see an update to improve the Kinect. It’s working ok for me, but my family has become too frustrated with just trying to watch TV.

    • MrUgly

How is it possible that its works for you and not for your family?? LOL

      • John Smith

Mostly because i’m ok with repeating myself. I understand that it’s new tech, and I’m pretty tolerant with it and make extra effort to make it work, and still think it’s pretty cool when it responds.

To my wife who’s not a gamer, it’s just an black box that she has to struggle to get a response from – and then gives up and uses the controller.

My 7 year old? Well, that’s just a disaster as one might expect.

  • Professor Oak

“Interactive”? When where you gunna tell us Telltale “Games” (interactive stories) was making the next Halo Title. lol, jk

  • Barry Csonka

    What a silly name

    • Guest

      Your’s is even more silly.

      • Barry Csonka

I couldn’t think of one as cool as Guest

  • Sean Mccoy

Halo” television series before a halo game on xbox one bring the game out for the xbox one then Halo” television series

    • Lucky13X

They should pull a Marvel Agents of Shield or Defiance like strategy.

  • Michael Košut

You are wrong and you know that.

    • Clinton Oxley

I want to be wrong. Im an Xbox guy through and through but that’s all they discuss is the TV entertainment portion of the One. Discuss games and what is on the horizon. Halo 5, Gears, etc. Everyone is getting tired of the “entertainment” portion of the One…

  • digitallife

Any word on gwg or deal of the week?

    • Jeremiah

      Deal of the Week is…
Burger Time World Tour – $4.99
      Halo 4 – $24.99

      • Professor Oak

No, that has been up for a while, aka not advertised deals

        • Jeremiah

          oh thank god.

          • Professor Oak

Noticed that on xbldb last week

          • Professor Oak

Hopefully, there will be a 75% off on all Starwars titles or something, cause, u know, Starwars day is May 4th

    • Sigognac

A little bit “off subject”, but it will be a Star Wars games sale for Gold members.

  • http://people.ign.com/ltsjoemama ltsJoeMama

Dammit. For a second there, the title made me think OG Xbox games were coming to Xbox One.

    • JackPackage

If they did that; with Achievements, it would be awesome.

    • Lucky13X

      I thought that too.

  • Digiadam

Only Halo matters. Nothing else is worth the time or money.

  • James RAW

Hey Major, Are all of these available to watch in Australia or will there be Geo Blocking?

  • Technobeatdown

Hmm…. Sounds really interesting….. but does it come with Gold? Or will it be a monthly video subscription program?

  • Professor Oak

Looks like it is Star Wars titles on sale this week, not gunna post the whole list, unfortunately they are still over priced

    • amnesiac

Where can I see the list please?

      • Professor Oak

        Xbldb . Com

        • amnesiac

          Thanks Professor.

    • Does Not Equal

So what? This article is about upcoming programming on Xbox consoles.

      • digitallife

He’s posting that because several people asked but since we are on the topic of what the article is about..where in the article does it say monitoring other people’s discussions?

      • Disturbed_Court_Jester

So what if people are going off topic, what else is there to say about the topic that hasn’t already been said within the 130+ comments already posted? Do you really feel the need to try to get people to stay on topic on every single blog post, I’m pretty sure people would have stopped doing it already if they were going to.

        • Does Not Equal

Then why bother at all? The new list will be up tomorrow, regardless.

          • Professor Oak

            People like to know early…

          • Does Not Equal

They’re already on the web… it’s a quick click to go look at XBLDB for themselves.

          • Professor Oak

There are noobs on this site, seriously, if u don’t like it, stop comment itmf on my stuff and leave me alone

          • Does Not Equal

People can wait the extra 24-48 hours without knowing things. It’s not a public service to clutter up the comments with redundant lists and speculation.

          • Professor Oak

Seriously, you are acting like a child who cannot have his own way, if you don’t like it, get off the blogs.

          • Does Not Equal

You’ve managed to miss the point and be proud of it. Congratulations.

          • Professor Oak

They are for Discussion, it is fine if we move off topic a bit. It is still xbox we are talking about.

          • Does Not Equal

You’re also good at rationalization, too!

    • Professor Oak

Honestly, I am just gunna wait and see what steam has in store this year for Starwars, missed out last year cause lack on gaming pc or knowledge of steam, May the 4th be with you.

    • Shakeslikecrazy

Don’t forget BurgerTime World Tour as that will be delisted after this week.

      • Professor Oak

Was on sale and not advertised last week

  • Shakeslikecrazy

Looks like a good, even great, list of shows. Keep them coming.
Now for the serious part…You guys have hired some N00B intern, with zero affinity to MS’ products, to do your product naming, haven’t you? I mean, how else could you have come up with Xbox One or Xbox Originals if you had played the Original Xbox and Xbox 360 before the Xbox One?
What are the Games on Demand Original Xbox games now called then as this is another great Wikipedia article messer upper to confuse people? For a minute, most of the gamers out there were thinking you were releasing an original Xbox emulator to play all their old games through a disc check or an On Demand release of every original Xbox game for the Xbox One. And no additional BS costs like Sony is doing, let people verify their legitimate purchases. Now there’s an idea that might please gamers…hmmm.

  • Gazza!!!

In a strange turn of events Spiderman 2 appeared on the US games marketplace to purchase.

  • DToyz

Deal of the Weeks a Cracker as usual

LEGO Star Wars TCS – £9.99
LEGO Star Wars III – £7.49
    LEGO Indiana Jones – £9.99
LEGO Indiana Jones II – £7.49
Star Wars The Force Unleashed – £9.99
Star Wars The Force Unleashed Tatooine Mission Pack – £1.68
Star Wars The Force Unleashed Jedi Temple Mission Pack – £1.68

    • Ross Kemp

Another poor ” Deal of the WEAK ” for me .
Thanks for posting the list tho .

    • JackPackage

Came on here to post this. With deals like this, it’s no wonder Microsoft doesn’t bother to make a Blog post about them.

Saw The Force Unleashed on sale and thought I’d give it a try, went to buy it and the price was £9.99, I almost spat my coffee out.

I’m struggling to think of a company that is as out of touch with their audience as Microsoft.

  • Killz

Still waiting on the next GwG…..

    • Does Not Equal

And you will, until the usual time they announce it.

      • Killz

They have a time? its like they announce them at random times….

        • Does Not Equal

They’ve randomly announced it the day before pretty much every month.

  • Mr&Mrs Ninja

I’m actually looking forward to this!

  • Lucky13X

When I saw the title I totally thought they were bringing back Xbox original box games like Halo: Combat Evolved.

  • Vince

    Microsoft is wasting their money.
