The Halo Journey

Minutes ago on Xbox Wire, 343 Industries General Manager Bonnie Ross revealed Halo 5: Guardians- and more. Find her entire post below:

Halo 5

Any time you transition to a new platform, there is the opportunity to look at things with a new perspective. For us at 343 Industries, the launch of the Xbox One was an opportunity to think about what stories we wanted to tell, how to tell them, and how best to push the Halo franchise to showcase the platform. And, most importantly, combining our passion for Halo with the vocal and informative input from our fans.

Halo isn’t simply a perennial game franchise, it’s a part of the Xbox platform itself. In terms of innovation and ideation, it’s sometimes important to people who might not even play Halo. And of course it’s a passion and an essential experience for two generations of gamers.  So we asked ourselves, how do we begin and where do we go with Halo on Xbox One?

In the past, Halo games have pushed the Xbox forward, showcasing the console and its ecosystem in entertaining and innovative ways. Making a Halo game that runs at 60 frames per second, on dedicated servers, with the scope, features and scale we’ve been dreaming of for more than a decade, is non-trivial.  It’s a task that we, at 343 Industries, are taking very seriously to ensure we deliver the Halo game that fans deserve, and a game that is built from the ground up for Xbox One.

I’m happy to reveal that Halo 5: Guardians, the next installment in the legendary saga of the Master Chief, will launch on Xbox One in fall of 2015.  In the tradition of every Halo game since its debut in 2001, it is a massive and exciting project.

Halo 5: Guardians is a bigger effort than Halo 4.  That applies to the content and scope of the game, as well as the technology in what’s now a brand new and more powerful engine.  Certainly there are some core elements carried over from prior games, but we’ve invested a huge effort in retooling our tech to take full advantage of the Xbox One’s hardware and ecosystem to create worlds and experiences worthy of next-gen.

It’s a game that will hopefully demonstrate the talent, learnings and abilities of the 343 Industries team. A game that will incorporate the things we learned from Halo 4 about technology, aesthetics, performance and scale – and perhaps more importantly, understanding and embracing a community of gamers who love what lies at the heart of this game, and the limitless potential of the Halo universe.

And 2015 won’t simply be the year of Halo 5: Guardians, it will also be a year that offers us a unique opportunity. The opportunity to invite old friends and new audiences into that universe through the Halo television series, launched as a unique collaboration with Steven Spielberg and some of the finest creative minds in the business.  A series that will stand alone, as well as complement and enrich the game experience.  We’ll have more to share on the Halo television series as we near its projected fall 2015 release.

Your Journey Begins in 2014

Many fans noted that I was very deliberate with my phrasing on stage at E3 last year. I spoke about a “journey,” rather than a destination – and that journey definitely begins in 2014 with a giant leap, rather than one small step. We’ll give you much more information about our plans for this year at the Xbox E3 2014 Media Briefing on June 9, and we’re confident that Halo fans will be pretty excited the special plans we have in store.

So until E3, I’d like to express my gratitude to our massive and varied Halo community, whose energy, enthusiasm, criticism and kindness are the driving force behind what we do and what we hope to achieve in Halo 5: Guardians.

Halo, Xbox One By Jeff Rubenstein

  • Logan Simmons

Sounds awesome!. Halo 2 Annv this year?? :)

    • Mr&Mrs Ninja

      Hopefully Yes! Yes! Yes!

      • Senses Failed

        Hopefully!? Come on now!

        • Mr&Mrs Ninja

          lol

    • Gabrielsp85

I think this announcement pretty much confirms it

    • Death Dealer

      Yes.

  • Mr&Mrs Ninja

Mr Ninja: Halo 5: Guardians? That sounds like you’ll play as other Spartans also… any who, detective mode aside…This sounds pretty sweet. Hope they improve some of the weapons or add some more to the arsenal. Maybe even add a melee system! E3 can’t get here fast enough!

  • Gazza!!!

Not only this but an X1 dev has posted a pic on reddit confirming X1 external hd support!

    • evilfangs .

      Anyone good at Maths?

On that image it say’s 29.4% used 585.9 GB free. I’m sure someone who is good at Maths can work out how much external hard drive is being used which might give a hint on if there’s a limit again.

      • Senses Failed

I would guess 1tb, but that’s only going by the games seen

      • beardyman3218

There is no limit from what I have been reading, well the only limit being the biggest size your HDD manufacturer makes.

      • DrToker

585,9 GB is 70,6%, which means it totals 830 GB. MS uses binaries when calculating the size, so it’s somewhere around 900 decimal TB.

        • Arcona

          GB*

          • DrToker

            Haha…oops

  • A. J.

343, take as long as you want with Halo 5.

  • Nicholas VandeKieft

I am so excited. I love the sound of things! Thanks for the relay of information! This was the news I was waiting for.

  • roozbeh, again

So, if they’ve announced this now, think what they have in store for E3.

    Can’t… contain… excitement…

  • evilfangs .

Microsoft must think they have something very special for E3 to announce Halo 5 official before E3.

You would think something like Halo would be the key focus for E3. Just imagine what Microsoft has in store for us at E3 if Halo 5 is announced on some random Friday.

    • Gabrielsp85

Halo 2 anniversary will be definitely there, this basically confirms it

    • beardyman3218

They announced the new console choice now halo 5, there is no doubt in my mind that e3 is all about games, demos are going to be at the forefront of the show. New IPs are surely going to be announced. I cannot wait any longer. I just wish they would announce how we can watch the conference through x1.

    • usrev

companies have been announcing games before e3 lately.

    • Dylan

Halo 1-4 HD collection , called the Master Chief Collection coming out for Xbox One this year, according to a leak.

The title might confirm what the Halo 5 box art suggests…Master Chief may not be front and center for the next game.

  • roozbeh, again

That looks like Pallmer on top, Chief on the bottom.

    Awkward choice.

    • Logan Simmons

Def not Palmer on top. I happen to think it is the chief in his new armor. And that the pic below is a reflection of his previous self/suit. Or that during the campaign he will get the new duds.

      • Dylan

        Could be Cortana.

        • Digiadam

Very true. The body type is not that of a spartan male.

  • Jay

It has been an interesting week Microsoft. I am not sure where we are headed but am enjoying the ride.

  • Nathaniel Aune

What I want to see so bad in Halo 5: Guardians is dual-wielding. I also want the gameplay to be a lot less like Halo: Reach because that’s what I didn’t like about Halo 4. I enjoyed Halo 4, but the gameplay needs improvement in Halo 5: Guardians. How many of you agree with me?

    • Mr&Mrs Ninja

Yes, YES! Put all that in there!

    • Cthulhu

I hated how it was CoDish

    • Professor Oak

      I miss the Arbiter

  • Some guy

I’m not sure I get why you annonce a game just to say you’ll reveal it at E3 but hurray for video games.
This E3 might be interesting after all.

    • Nick Peck

They announced this game last year and are just tossing out some new info on it now.

  • Kimikaro

I will believe it when I see it but considering halo 4 still to this day, has multiple black screens during mp matches and lag spikes consistently. Along with people who are very clearly cheating, this will probably happen to halo 5.

    • kevgallacher

Black screens? I have never seen this.
Lag is a problem that affects any online game. So far on X1 though lag sends to be very minimal so I don’t see that being an issue.

      • Kimikaro

gettin lucky then. If I recal the black screen is happening as halo 4 is trying to find a better host. As for lag, yes it affects every game but only in halo 4 do I get lag regularly and in high doses lol. Time will tell but given halo 4 current issues, dont see it going as well as they hope it will.

        • Nick Peck

Something on your end perhaps? Halo 4 is the least laggy FPS I have played in years. hmmmmm. Never seen the black screen thing either but I have run into the host switching a bunch of times (as you do in every fps).

          • Kimikaro

Doubt its on my end as no other game does anything like this. The black screen I am talking about is a black screen, with the current scores showing. Which if I recall is when its trying to find a new host. I get that screen enough to be annoying, dont know of another game that interrupts ur playingto find a host like halo does.

          • Nick Peck

BF4 is the worst and half the time when you were on a black screen the game would hang and you had to close it and start it up again lol. But then again BF4 is still a bug fest of a game. I never had any real issues with Halo 4 when I played so I’m not sure :(

          • Kimikaro

lol ya bf4 is kust bad at times. as for halo 4, dunno what can be done except hope they actually do some good amd have stanle mp.

        • Digiadam

I have been to countless Halo parties and have never ever ever seen this happen. Sry but the issue here has to be on your end.

          • Kimikaro

define parties, is it via lan or over the net?

          • Digiadam

Both lan and net. Could it be your isp or router perhaps?

          • Kimikaro

Thought it was but I have 30 down, 5 up and a ping time of 34ms so doubt its me. No other game or app shows signs of lag ever, even when im streaming netflix/hulu in the background. it is just halo 4 doing alot of host migration

          • Digiadam

That’s very odd indeed then. I will research this more.

          • Kimikaro

Good luck, but im betting you will find that is uust halo doing host migration alot >_>

  • Cthulhu

Can NOT wait for a new Halo. The campaigns to these games are some of the most fun I ever played thru. My only thing is they better put the multiplayer back. Stop making it like CoD. CoD is overrated.

  • Disturbed_Court_Jester

Hoping this ones MP turns out better than Halo 4, which imo was horrible.

    • Cthulhu

      Way too CoDish

      • Jedi Dna

        Agreed!
        Halo should be Halo.
If we wanted COD we would just buy it!

        • Professor Oak

Halo 4 was not CoDish, last I checked melee isn’t a 1 hit kill, you generally don’t die buy 2 bullets, and you can drive vehicles and use turrets. Wtf it was not CoD

          • Jedi Dna

I never said it was a perfect COD clone, but they added some COD elements in the MP allright. Winning points to buy abilities, extra power and specializations is clearlly CODish, and IMO not a good thing!
Ps: You can kill with 1 melle hit in all halo games.

          • Professor Oak

No you cannot! Are you stop, they only way 1 melee will kill is if there shields are down. 2 melee is a kill

          • Jedi Dna

            Yes you can. Try harder!
You just have to melee when in the other guys back, then 1 melee hit kills. Otherwhise you’ll need 2 hits.
            This works since halo 1.

          • Professor Oak

that is assassination, I am refering to a melee attack, not an assassination, big difference

          • Jedi Dna

It just became an assassination on halo 4. In all other halo games that is just a regular 1 hit kill melee attack.

          • Professor Oak

The point is it is not 1 hit like CoD, knife in the toe or finger will kill you in CoD, same in halo does not happen, God, you are stupid

          • Jedi Dna

I’m not keep arguing with a brainless kid who never played another halo game besides halo 4.
think whatever you want. I don’t care!

          • Professor Oak

I own and have played all of them. I still call it an assassination even if it has no animation. Halo is the reason I play Xbox rather than PlayStation, besides the Xbox controller is better. 1 hit kill under conditional circumstances doesn’t make it a definite 1 hit KO. Noob get a life

    • usrev

the entire game was horrible. halo 4 was a disgrace.

      • roozbeh, again

The single player and graphics were pretty nice. Hopefully they will improve MP.

        • Jedi Dna

Single player was awesome! As for the MP I like better Reach.

    • Digiadam

      Incorrect. halo 4 was awesome.

      • Jacob Rael

        No it wasnt

        • Digiadam

Yes it was. You just don’t know a good game from a bad game.

      • Arcona

he said mp. not the game. I love halo 4 but if I’m playing multiplayer I’d rather do it on one of the bungie ones.. just better

  • ungeheier

No amount of hype (for any game) is going to get me excited about the X1. You guys have lied to the base X1 users and now I find myself not really caring anymore about your products. Thanks Phil! You’ve really turned me off to your company, products and gaming in general.

    • Nick King

Is it really his fault he’s only just taken over and all the changes I’ve seen so far are for the good.

    • Nick Peck

Good since you don’t like it, LEAVE. We don’t need annoying crybabies around here please.

      • fur low

Nick Peck is a Microsoft representative, Microsoft’s message is clear, get boned or get out. “Do we have a product for you, its called xbox 360 and stfu”… “Or wait, we changed our mind”

        • Does Not Equal

Or he’s just tired of people coming to a Microsoft blog to tell everyone how much they’re not going to buy Microsoft products.

          • Liquidfx Xboxdude

NO! it is true as long a a crazy person says it.

    • Liquidfx Xboxdude

Phil Spencer supports your decision no matter what it is.

  • Professor Oak

Finally! A real reason to get an Xbox One, been waiting for this announcement.

    • Professor Oak

I’m a gunna wait to see if they announce a limited edition Console :D

    • Dylan

They announced this game a year ago.

      • Professor Oak

Waiting for an announcement with a relevant release day. Will wait to get Xbox One till it comes out

  • Bush

is Marty on board for the OST?

    • roozbeh, again

      Surprise E3 announcement I suspect.

    • beardyman3218

The halo 3 soundtrack still gives me chills. I believe bungie sacked him for unknown reasons, he said “I’m saddened to say that Bungie’s board of directors terminated me without cause on April 11, 2014,”

    • Arcona

that would be epic! Him and Neil Davidge doing the H5 OST together would be amazing!

  • Liquidfx Xboxdude

Halo 5 is cool and all but when will they release Vampire Rain 2? That is what everyone is waiting on.

    • roozbeh, again

Yeah… not really. I would like something a bit easier to control.

    • evilfangs .

      You mean BattleToads.

      • Shakeslikecrazy

Oh, that would be SO awesome.

    • Some guy

Everyone that played Vampire Rain remember about it, it was that memorable!

  • Liquidfx Xboxdude

anyone else see an ad for Yung Joc to the right? long time no listen.

  • Nathanzz

You guys saving any news for E3? This is either going to be the most exciting conference ever or the most boring.

    • Nick Peck

They had to much news / games / game trailers for their 90 minutes on stage so they are giving us a bunch before the show! There will be plenty of great stuff I’m sure.

    • Some guy

If they reveal a new Bomberman/Timesplitters/Rareware sequel/Mechassault It’ll be worth the time.
Even if I doubt it’ll be anything else but Halo/Gears/Forza/Sunset

  • Robert Goodman

Am I the only one that thinks Guardians is an odd name choice in that Bungie calls its Spartan equivalents that in Destiny…

    • Greg Fellmer

Great observation. I hadn’t considered the oddity until your post. That is very strange.

    • Professor Oak

Halo has used Gaurdians since the beginning. Ex: killed by the gaurdians when trying to go out of bounds, or that train…

  • Satsumo

Was the Xbox One released two years too early?

    • ElektroDragon

Sure was. Maybe they’ll release a new version of the X1 by then that can actually run a good looking next gen Halo game at 60FPS in 2015 and not have it be lower res than Killzone SF in 2013.

      • Nick Peck

But then again while KZ was in 1080p it could hardly hit 60fps when nothing was on screen lol. If the game is fun play it. If resolution and fps is such a big deal, leave and play on the pc only.

        • Some guy

KZ wasn’t even 1080p it was half of that and they filled the rest with an average of the last few images(resulting in a terrible mess on foliage)

      • Some guy

What will they call it? Xbox one HD?
But yea, they need to upgrade they console if they want my money.
I bought a 360 because it was better and cheaper then a ps3 + a ton of exclusives

      • Jacob Rael

The xbox one can already run good looking games

    • Jedi Dna

Halo 3 was released two years after the 360 too.

  • Jedi Dna

“60 frames per second, on dedicated servers”
PLEASE! DON’T MAKE IT ALLWAYS ONLINE LIKE TITANFALL AND DESTINY!

    • Professor Oak

Again, this is becoming the Norm… nothing wrong with it…

      • Jedi Dna

Nothing wrong if its OPTIONAL like Watchdogs or Dead Island!
If its mandatory like Titanfall it will kill Halo.
I HATE playing games with strangers, specially the “story” mode.

      • Dylan

I’d say almost the majority of Halo players play the single-player campaign, so that’d be alienating a huge market.

        • Professor Oak

I would hate if they decided to do no campaign, they wouldn’t do it, when I as referring to the norm, I was referring to Titanfall and others. I could see cod using this model

    • Swat

Adapt, a lot of games are going to be like that one day.

      • Jedi Dna

        No way!
Like I said I won’t mind if its optional. I would only disable it.
But if its mandatory then thats a deal breaker to me since I really don`t like to play the story mode with strangers.
That`s why I didn`t buy Titanfall and won’t buy Destiny.

        • Swat

You can still play in private but you have to be connected. That’s what always online means.

          • Jedi Dna

I don”t think you actually can play Titanfall alone.
Either way that is just ridiculous and sucks BIGTIME!

          • Arcona

Destiny you can. dunno about titanfall

          • Jedi Dna

Really? if you actually can Destiny alone then its even worse!
That unecessary forced online (like diblo 3 on pc) is the worst tipe ever!

      • Jacob Rael

        No they wont

    • beardyman3218

I think he meant the multi player has always been on dedicated servers and this will continue to do so.

  • Greg Fellmer

The implication from last year’s E3 was a new Halo game for 2014. Master Chief shown in a new setting, along with comments about a new journey in 2014, were unmistaken. However, let’s put semantics aside. If the “journey” is a retooling of all previous Halo Chapters to run on Xbox One, then I will completely forgive the faux pas. Ok, ok…if they offer only a retooled Halo 2 for the Xbox One, I’m still in. :)

  • fur low

Announcing a game that’s a year and a half away? You desperate for any kind of attention aint ya microshaft?

    • Professor Oak

This is the norm…. Smash Bros, Destiny, and way to many to mention have been announced as such

      • fur low

Well Nintendo is desperate for hype too so…

        • Professor Oak

Still doesn’t explain Destiny. Again, it is a norm to announce games as early as possible

          • Guest

…especially in Sony’s case. Agent, The Last Guardian and MANY others ring a bell.

          • Shakeslikecrazy

Indeed. Sony’s got a knack for announcing way to early and overhyping, so that it never lives up to it.

          • roozbeh, again

Yes, their overhyping is reaching uncharted territory.

          • Dylan

Like when Microsoft announced the Black Tusk game last year at E3, with an entire CG trailer, then cancelling it 3 months later for yet another Gears of War game? Or Alan Wake (which I loved anyway)?

            They all do it.

      • Some guy

On the 360 MS was actually a lot more reserved about that stuff.
That said the 360 wasn’t a unsalvageable trainwreck so they didn’t need to hype the console that much.

  • digitallife

Woo hoo…always love the single player story of Halo. Haven’t cared much for MP since Halo 3. Very excited.

  • Death Dealer

Soooo, multiple playable characters and Master Chief not the primary one, gathering from the artwork. If, H2A wasn’t coming out, I’d swear this was a copy…
Can’t wait for E3 now that you’re already releasing all this news, it’s bound to be great!

    • Shakeslikecrazy

TBH, I liked the Arbiter. Now this isn’t the Arbiter but another Spartan, probably one that hasn’t been introduced yet, unless it’s the ONI guy that was interviewing Halsey at the beginning of Halo 4. If it’s him, the storyline could indeed go like Halo 2. Two antagonizing forces joining in the end.

  • numpty

“Halo isn’t simply a perennial game franchise”.

It is, y’know. No more, no less.

    • Liquidfx Xboxdude

i don’t know. i don’t like halo much but i will never forget playing it at the then Babbages with a friend and it was the campaign. that amazed me back then being the computer gamer snob i was.

  • Nathaniel Aune

I will be disappointed if they make the gameplay look like Halo: Reach again.

  • ElektroDragon

Shouldn’t all these reveals be saved for E3? I swear this year no company can keep any secrets!

    • Does Not Equal

Microsoft’s has a pretty notable leak lately, so maybe they’re just trying to head it off and announce everything themselves.

      • Liquidfx Xboxdude

that sounds about right. they are just doing the right thing this time around and laying out their whole stack where as last year everything was leaked before and ms denied it when it was really true. i think they played it smart this time around.

  • fur low

Halo 4 was a damn love story with the same mechanics as the original halo. No wonder the multiplayer scene there is dead an people went back to play reach. 343 isn’t cranking out their heart in soul in masterpieces of work, they are just doing what they are told.

    • Jedi Dna

IMO people went back to play Reach because: (At least thats why I did it)

      1) The framerate and image quality really suffers in the MP, specially in forge stages and when splitting screen.

      1) CODish points system to get advantage to win easier. That really sucks in COD, thankfully in Halo 4 most of then are just visual (which I don’t mind), but some actually give extra firepower to someone just because he is playing for a longer time then others. Thats just unfair. The best should win, not the one that plays the game for a longer time.

    • Lucas Sanches Cestari

i gone back to halo:reach because of the game modes and more modified maps for big team slayer, well… basically, it was more fun to play

    • Jacob Rael

      Halo 4 sucked

    • Generalkidd

I went back to Halo 3 actually, I just couldn’t stand any Halo multiplayer post-Halo 3. Back in the classic Halo games, you were rewarded for actually winning, not for spending more time playing.

  • Some Person

Now see, if this was being released on what the Xbox One was originally supposed to be I’d be psyched but now it’s just a PS4 clone and I’m sad.

    • Liquidfx Xboxdude

do you even have an x1? it is a great machine but just needs stuff which is what they are doing. the majority of gamers wanted the things they are changing. sorry. but majority rules.

    • Jacob Rael

So you wanted an anti consumer machine?

      • Jan Václavík

        Is, say, Steam anti-consumer?

        • Jedi Dna

          YES! IT IS!

          • Jan Václavík

Indeed, but for some reason most people crying about the original DRM do not share our opinion on Steam.

          • Jedi Dna

very true. Steam fanboys are the only one even more blind than apple ones.

          • Some Person

Yes, clearly Steam is anti-consumer. Fantastic sales all the time, entire game catalog available at a moments notice, ability to share that catalog with your friends, an offline mode… evil, evil capitalists.

          • Jedi Dna

You forgot to mention the DRM that treats every legit customer as a criminal.

          • Some Person

The DRM? Yeah, you have to have steam installed and you need to go online once in a blue moon to verify licenses. The horrors of needing to go online on occasion, especially in a multi-player focused game. In case you have been living under a rock the past five years or so the line between online and offline games is blurring and it’s not about treating “legit customer(s) as criminal(s)” but because it provides a better experience all around.

Video games create these fantastic worlds filled with lore, plot, visuals, audio, and the actual game play but up until games like “Dark Souls” came out that integrated the entire player base into the world it was lacking a certain “liveliness” to the environment. Developers have understood that for a while now and the PC adopted it because it wasn’t constrained by hardware limitations. Consoles are now going the same route with this generation.

The internet is almost everywhere these days and you are clearly able to connect long enough to do a license check since you spend so much time trolling this blog. Get over yourself because it’s pretty pathetic and obvious what you are doing.

          • Jedi Dna

Since you clearlly aren’t smart enough to figure out by yourself I’m going to explain to you. Multiplayer ONLY games obviously aren’t the ones in question here. Digital distribution gives no benefit at all to the customer on single player or optional mp games. All you can do with digital you can do with physical. There are sales for physical games too in case you never did actually went out of your internet connected cave. Digial distribution takes the control over your games from you. Alright, with steam you can share, play offline and bla bla bla… nevertheless you still need a server and their blessing to do anything, so you actually do not own nothing. If they ever go out of bussines or change their strategy you”ll loose everything.
Taking away the control from the customer over the games he owns is as anti-consumer as it gets!
And as I said before, steam fanboys are as blind as they can get! Arest my case.

          • Some Person

I’m sorry, could you re-write that in English with proper grammar? Your argument failed based on the simple fact that a lot of Games for Windows Live titles were released on Steam and when Microsoft pulled the plug they were patched. Wow, no servers and the game can still be played. It’s amazing! Go away troll.

          • Jedi Dna

No I can’t. English is not my primary language but anyone capable of basic thinking can understand me allright.
And good luck patching a console game to use a third party server.
Anyway all of these people that get their games on MS store won’t be able to transfer it to another computer unless they crack it or buy again. So sooner or later they will loose all their games.
            Brainless troll!

          • Jason Owens

            there both as blind :)

      • Some Person

Cheaper digital pricing, sharing your entire catalog on the fly with 8 people, a simple, voice-driven UI that quite literally a child (or in my case, a technologically ignorant significant other) could use, finally doing away with antiquated physical media that just ends up being chucked in a landfill and will remain there for 500 years… yeah, totally anti-consumer.

        • Jacob Rael

Always online, Forced Kinect, only owning a license to your games and not the games themselves, cheaper pricing but not for several years.

          • Blastergamer

are you living under a rock? Always-online was never there since Xbox One launch, Kinect as well, and disc-based games are not tied to one account, which was removed before launch as well.

          • Generalkidd

It wasn’t always online to begin with. There was a once every 24 hour check in required at first, but beyond that no internet connection was necessary. The Kinect could also be disabled and the system with owning games would pretty much be the same as Steam, which we all know is hugely successful and does not bother anyone in PC gamer land. PC gamers and even mobile gamers all accept just owning a license to their games. And technically, you’ve never actually owned the game anyways, if you ever read the end-user license agreement with all games since the 1980’s, you’re licensed to use the game, but you do not legally own the game itself.

My Halo knowledge is just a little above “I only have played the video games.”
    that being said…
What is the likeliness that the Spartan on top (hey oh) is Sarah Palmer? I feel like in H4, 343 was trying to make characters that had back-story and personalities. It worked insofar as I recognized the faces this time around. Before, I just shot things. So it would make sense for them to use Lasky and Palmer more in this game as they try to drive story.
Really, this new trilogy is its own thing. I’m trying to enjoy it for what it is, and not keep holding it up to and comparing it with the initial trilogy. It’s hard when it has the word HALO in the title.
Stoked for E3. The reveals in both titles and gameplay are always a ton of fun.

  • Clattus

Looks like the dead space guy is helping out in this one.

  • Liquidfx Xboxdude

we could all be dead by fall 2015. let us beta test the campaign while they are making it.

  • Jason Renfro

If I can’t get it this year can you at least get Cortana up and running on my phone so I can talk to her about it?

    • PANDA PUNISHER

Just join the developer preview program. It’s free and I can talk to Cortana on WP 8.1 just fine.

  • kvfive

We’d have all got a PS4 by the time this game arrives ;)

    • Guest

hahaha i could buy a car with the money from ps4 here in brazil, so nope.

      • Liquidfx Xboxdude

you guys do have cardboard cars over there don’t you?

        • Jedi Dna

No we just have companys like Sony that don’t respect their fans.
          PS4 costs 2x x1 round here.

        • Lucas Sanches Cestari

ps4 costs 2000$ Dollars here in brazil, it’s just insane to buy a ps4 here, xbox one already won here in brazil

    • Jacob Rael

      Lol why would I want a ps4

      • kvfive

lol…. Where do you want me to start ;-)

        • Jan Václavík

          You tell us.
I can think of “it can run call of duty at higher resolution”…

          • kvfive

            You’re easily pleased dude !

          • Jedi Dna

No you’re easily pleased! Every decent game released for the ps4 until now can be played on every platform avaliable. And you can’t even play a decent racer! The most important thing about a video game is games!

          • kvfive

You not making sense… Random poster :-(

          • Jedi Dna

I didn’t expect that you could actually understand anything, after all you do have a ps4 and keep posting on a xbox forum

          • Jedi Dna

actually, I’m suprised that you can even write!

          • kvfive

Conversation over ! I’m not arguing with a 12 yr old kid.

          • Jedi Dna

So you just disclosure your age pony boy!

          • paul rolland

            Really now?

          • llortretsam

Neither console have many decent exclusives out yet, they have only been out for 6 months what do you expect? The only games that on average have scored higher than an 8 from critic reviews on PS4 has been Infamous second son and MLB 14: The Show and the only ones on Xbox One are TitanFall and dead rising 3.

“The most important thing about a video game is games!”Totally makes sense…

          • Jedi Dna

You are forgeting about Forza 5. Despite Ryse didn’t reach a 8 it’s a pretty good game too.
So far: Forza 5 + Titanfall + Deacrising 3 + Ryse is MUCH better than Infamous SS + MLB 14 + knack.
I don’t see that changing anytime soon to since Driveclub clearly is no match for Forza and likelly will be a Halo for x1 this year, so when it comes to games, its pretty clear to me that MS has the lead.

          • Mark Jones

While Infamous is a good game.. I rather play DR3, KI, Forza, Titanfall.. All with more replay value than Infamous SS.. Never liked playing, watching, or care about Baseball..

        • Jacob Rael

Im not one of those idiots who cares about resolution, and I like microsoft exclusives better.

          • kvfive

Then why did you purchase a next gen if improved graphics is of no concern to you ?

          • beardyman3218

Because the upgrade in hardware means better gameplay improvements not just graphics.

          • paul rolland

Let me know when Microsoft first party studios start, then I might buy the one

          • beardyman3218

I’m not trying to get anyone to buy x1 make your own decision on that, I was simply stating new hardware isn’t just about graphics.

          • paul rolland

99% of of people are not fan boys, they buy what ever system they want at the time and will swap and change throughout the life cycle. I just want to see Microsoft invest money into the studios and not just buy out games from 3rd party’s

          • http://people.ign.com/ltsjoemama ltsJoeMama

Uhh because he wanted Xbox One exclusives?

          • Jacob Rael

            I didnt, I won one.

    • Michal

For what? Multiplatforms? No thank you.

    • beardyman3218

We were? Wow….tell me what else I’m going to do.

    • Guest

Man, you paupers are so desperate. It’s way too funny.

  • http://people.ign.com/ltsjoemama ltsJoeMama

So I’ve been looking at the recent leaks, and I don’t see Halo 2 anniversary. I’ll be disappointed if it doesn’t come out. :(

  • Arcona

Love me some Halo. Looking forward to E3. Really hope they announce Crackdown 3. The crackdown games are so fun. especially with keys to the city once you finish the main game. a big explosive physics playground!

  • Brad

I’ll reserve judgement until after E3… but’s It’s hard to get excited for games that are almost 2 years away from release and if the rumor is true that Quantum Break will also be delayed until next year (Neo Gaf) … it’s pointless to even bother. Something tells me you are going to be directly tying in the TV show version of Halo to the game… Hopefully that works out well and it doesn’t translate into a bad game.

  • Mark Merriman

    It’s a guy

  • fur low

Halo 2 was the last great Halo game. This would be much better on ps4 where all my old halo friends now play.

    • Professor Oak

      Keep dreaming
