First Details on Call of Duty: Ghosts Invasion

Today, Activision and Infinity Ward are offering the first look at Invasion, the third DLC Pack available for Call of Duty: Ghosts. Invasion features four Multiplayer maps and the next installment in Extinction’s four-part episodic narrative, Awakening. Have a look at the trailer:

Here’s more on those new Multiplayer maps:

DEPARTED – Set in a rural Mexican town amidst the Dia de los Muertos (the Day of the Dead) celebration, this medium-sized map features a classic three-lane design. The decorative streets, back alleys, and festive cemetery have plenty of cover for run-and-gunners, but still features some long-range engagements.

If you complete the map’s unique Field Order, you will unlock the Death Mariachi killstreak. Armed with dual wielding pistols, the Death Mariachi rampages through the map, turning your kills into your own squad mates. Celebrate the dead, just try not to become one of them!

PHARAOH – In an abandoned archeological site of an ancient Egyptian palace, where the pyramids create a formidable backdrop, this medium sized, complex multi-level map includes a collapsing monument, urns full of flesh-eating scarabs, and other surprises.

Within the Egyptian palace, you will battle through different chambers, a throne room, and temples ideal for close-quarters combat and short-range weapons, all under the watchful eye of Anubis, the half-jackal/half-human, protector of the dead. The more adventurous of you will be handsomely rewarded by exploring the deepest secrets of the site.

MUTINY – In a secretive cove on a remote Caribbean island, this mysterious inlet is not your ideal holiday destination. Harboring an eerie pirate hideout – complete with abandoned trading posts and prison cells – you’ll need to focus on speed and stealth as you find your way through the narrow and intertwining pathways.

Mutiny comes packed with many “treasures” for you to discover, such as the map’s unique killstreak – an escort of ghostly pirates who will happily send your foes down to Davy Jones’ Locker.

FAVELA – Favela is a refreshed version of the fan-favorite Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 map of the same name. Years later, the favela has seen substantial cosmetic changes – buildings once under-construction are now complete, while others have not aged as gracefully as others with the passage of time, and are now in a state of disrepair.

With narrow passageways, multiple housing complexes, and abandoned storefronts, there is also plenty of opportunity for shorter range weapons as you navigate this Brazilian shantytown.

Extinction continues its storyline with Episode 3: Awakening. Descend into an alien underworld and strike at the mysterious puppet-masters behind the Cryptid invasion. Three new Cryptid species await players, along with some familiar enemies and allies.

Call of Duty: Ghosts Invasion arrives first on Xbox – next Tuesday, June 3rd.

Say about CoD what you want, I’m actually liking all the weird multiplayer additions they’ve made for this game.

    • beardyman3218

This is what dlc should do, go off the path of the game. I hope the same wackiness applies to GTA v dlc..whenever that arrives.

      • Mr&Mrs Ninja

They made some dlc for GTA online.

        • beardyman3218

Yes I meant the wackiness this dlc has is what most games should do. Dlc should be used as a chance to offer something different to the game, e.g. I want jetpacks and ufos in GTA :)

      … what?

      • Ross Kemp

Above and beyond your paygrade son .
Don’t worry your pretty head about it .

        • Does Not Equal

“Pay grade?” I’m pretty sure the only ones getting paid here are Jeff and the Major. Thanks for the compliment about my head, though.

  • beardyman3218

Still no word on dnla support, or a system player for videos and one for music so we can listen to music without using snap or Xbox music?

    • todd Wright

the one has dnla now look it up on you tube

      • beardyman3218

No it has play to, but that offers no where near the same level of functionality that dlna offers and is a pain to use.

  • MobileVortex

    Does anyone care about this?

    • Does Not Equal

Judging by how well this series sells, I think the answer to your question would be “yes.”

      • MobileVortex

This game is so bad tho. I got suckered into it for $30 played it for a week and now it collects dust. I have at least 3 friends who have done the same thing. Over 125 people on my friends list, i almost NEVER see anyone playing this. It makes me happy to see this franchise finally starting to die.

  • Mikael Soltaniha

Crikey.. DLC, Micro-DLC, full $69 price, lacks good weapons & maps, story is literally worthless (If you liked the story, you don’t read books and probably haven’t played anything other than COD.. don’t bother replying, please).. what is the appeal of this game? The popularity? This game is barely enjoyable. In a game, a person can have 1 kill and 15 deaths yet still be in a game. How is this fun?!?!?!?

    • Nick Peck

Again, just because you don’t like it doesn’t make it a bad game. Obviously millions upon millons of people that like it will disagree with you. I’m sure I don’t like games that you do and vice versa.

Peoples skills very, there are games when I can go 25 / 2 and then the next game go 7 / 12 (or worse), but that can happen in any FPS in MP.

  • Jedi Dna

To me the last respectfull COD was COD 2….

  • llortretsam

Meh, this game is definitely the worst game of the COD franchise, just horrible and this is coming from someone who enjoyed Black Ops 2 and Modern Warfare 3.

    • llortretsam

      @JR Texx (Jamie)

“You clearly never played CoD 3 and you enjoyed MW3, oh dear.”

Yeah, COD 3 was pretty bad, but Ghost made it look like gold and MW3 is the highest selling COD game to date and has sold over twice as much as Ghost, yeah it’s been out longer, but Ghost is available on more consoles and within a month it was already being put on sale for 50% off, does that not say something XD.

  • baconcheeswhiz89

poopy game, activision wont get any more of my shillings unless they release a new tony hawk.

    • Mr&Mrs Ninja

Mr Ninja: Tony Hawk or we RIOT!

  • Mike

Can it do any worse than ghosts? Ghosts was terrible.

  • Ritchie Martin

Soooo… How bout that live activity? Remember? That thing where we see what games are most played among xbox live users?

  • Derek D

Maybe I’m in a league if my own, but it makes me sad to see so much hate among gamers about COD. Ghosts might not be as good as prior COD games, but I still enjoy it and instill think its a great franchise. My only gripe would be that I’m tired of all the settings be set into some post major future war, but its not going to make me stop playing them.

    • Riddick Snipes

I’m with u. For me cod is still the shiz. Extinction is beyond epic. Smooth as butter gameplay. Haters can hate, but its people like me that they make cod games for. Peace.

    • Nick Peck

Agreed. I don’t play the game a ton, but it’s pretty fun. I just hope the next one has a few fresh ideas as the whole FPS genre has kinda gone stale as of late.

    • J.Rhy@n

I’m loving COD Ghosts – played every single one of them! – as to the whiners / moaners! It’s called Bandwagon and most just follow one another like sheep to be on it!

      • Disturbed_Court_Jester

Yeah that or it’s just a bad game(ill go with the latter). They have literally copied and pasted from previous COD games like the campaign ending and Multiplayer maps that they just changed the textures and added a thing or two, Just lazy development that resulted in a horrible game, even by COD standards.

  • fur low

All these games so far don’t really look better on x1 than on the 360. Why bother paying $400 to downgrade your features and get about the same looks?

    • Nick Peck

How many console launches have you been around for? Pretty much every launch game is marginally better than the previous gen since the newer systems are never fully optimized until months after they are out in the wild. It’s always been like this.

Next year and beyond you will start seeing bigger differences. But then again, you are comparing CoD games that have largely used the same engine (albeit updated for every new game) over the past handful of games. Supposedly Advanced Warfighter is using a brand new next gen built engine, so we will see.

Even though BF4 is still a total mess, look at the next gen vs. last gen and tell me there isn’t much difference lol. Look at Ryse graphically ect.

      • fur low

I’ve been around for console launches since the commodore 64 and building computers for 20 years. Not that I care what you think, your such a hardcore brandfan that you’ll take whatever MS poo’s out. I know xbone is garbage, don’t need you to validate that for me.

  • Ross Kemp

State of Decay Lifeline DLC is now available via in game menu .
    Colour me happy :)

  • Death Dealer

Just a friendly PSA. Tomorrow, the 31st will be the last day to double dip on the Ghosts season pass.
