Xbox Feedback: Tell Us What You Think

Xbox fans are great at letting us know what they like about Xbox, and what they’d like us to do better.  Whether on MajorNelson.com, NeoGAF, Reddit, Twitter, forums, or in person at events, we are always listening to what our fans have to say. Your passionate feedback has been a key factor in many of our decisions over the course of the last year.

That’s why today we’re rolling out a new fan feedback portal: Xbox Feedback. It’s a place where Xbox fans from around the world can submit their ideas for Xbox – any idea – and have people vote on it. Because everything will happen on one site, we’ll be able to get a better idea of which ideas are truly the most important to Xbox fans. The best part: the ideas, comments, and votes will be tallied up and presented to the Xbox design, engineering, and operations teams on a very regular basis.

Ready to contribute? Head over to Feedback.xbox.com to submit your idea, or vote on others. Be sure to read the FAQ and Posting Guidelines before you get started. With your help, we’ll continue to make Xbox the best place to play.

E3, Feedback, Xbox.com By Jeff Rubenstein

  • deadbox102

    Great idea.

  • Some guy

Good idea, hopefully it’ll be more effective then the feedback we give here that result in nothing.

    External HDD’s for xbox 360

    • Hates bad writers.

For more important things to do with the Xbox One right now, you clearly just need to manage your space better. If 320 isn’t enough, you’re wasting too much space. Digital pricing needs fixing long before the 360 gets larger external drives.

  • Anubis316

Great job with the conference! thank you for focusing on games!

  • TwIzTuD

Will the “Master Chief Collection” be available for pre-order digitally and come with the Halo 5 Beta Code and any other pre-order bonuses. Microsoft wanted a digital world but yet they haven’t made any strides to sway people away from discs. Will gamer’s like myself who have adopted the digital way be forced to purchase a disc version just to not be left out of the Halo 5 Beta?

    • bickle2

Yes, well, huge swaths of the country and the world do not have the bandwidth to make such things practical. A 50GB game would take me the better part of two days to download if I did nothing else. The more important thing is re-enabling the family and disc registration plans so that you can okay without the disc in.

      • TwIzTuD

I understand your bandwidth issue but digital pre-ordering should still be an option to all as a choice to go along with in store pre-ordering. Both options should come with same bonuses. I agree with the re-enabling of the family and disc registration plans. I had no real issue with Microsoft’s first vision of Xbox One except for the 24hr check in. That needed to be extended to at least 72 hours, possibly a week.

        • bickle2

The week would have fixed the issue for practical people. If you’re talking about preloads and such, it’s coming by the end of the summer

  • http://Www.mylifewithgaming.wordpress.com/ Mitchell Hall

Let me just be the first to say.. amazing job today at e3 !! you guys absolutely killed it with nonstop games and great new exclusive content. Also I think this is just an absolute amazing idea. I love the direction xbox has been heading in since the xbox one was released.!! Right now I’m away from home working 12 hr night shift 7PM to 7 am and I love xbox so much I stayed awake just so I wouldn’t miss the confrence :) and it didn’t disappoint that’s for sure!! even though I’m pretty tired at work now lol

Thanks Larry, phil and the rest of the xbox crew for making my favorite platform even better!!

    • Alex Forsyth

Wow, somebody here loves kissing the butt of executives. Does your wife do the same when she shows up to post on a comments section or does she just tolerate you being a flatterer and sycophant?

  • Dylan

    Bring 1 vs 100 back!

  • kevgallacher

Why do Microsoft employees use Google Chrome when they are at work? Do they not trust their own product?
    @11s in the vid.

    • ImTheMetalLord

I don’t see what you see. IE looks a lot like chrome if you set it up so there is nothing to distinguish it apart in the video. I use both IE and Chrome as my browsers and Have IE set up where it looks just the same as Chrome this is how I know this.

      • kevgallacher

Do you have the tabs above the address bar like in chrome?
Do your tabs have angled corners?
Does your address bar stretch all the way across the width of the window?
Do you have the Chrome settings icon at the right hand side of the address bar?
Does you version of IE have a google chrome logo on the taskbar?
I wasn’t aware you could customise IE that much, if so how?

  • http://www.kevin-fell.co.uk/ Kevin Fell

Nice idea. It’s already in need of administration. There are duplicates all over the place.

  • abugray

      • BigBernard

        That’s lovely.

          • Professor Oak

            yes.

    • Some guy

      GTA IV & V
      Terraria
Forza Horizon(game is 10$, season pass is 50$)

  • Four Chan² / Side B

I am glad I own both consoles now, PS4 and Xbox One because this E3 made me broke.

  • Realmusik Recordz

Good Show Today! My dislikes about the console is the dashboard. Im not saying bring back the Xbox 360 dashboard but try to build off of it. I dont talk to my friends as much as i did on the xbox 360 becuase of the dashboard and how everything is just spreaded out. The xbox 360 guide button was just one click and everything you need was there. To me now….its just a mess. I still love the console but its not user friendly.
Also that xbox live feeling i use to have when i get on and see my friends and avatars and voice messages and ext…. that feeling is gone. It feels kind of like im just turning on a computer now. The Dashboad needs a update that circulate around community as the 360 did. I also agree with the guy that said bring back 1 vs 100 thats apart of that community feeling im talking about. I use to talk to everyone on my friend list and now its just dead right now on the dashboard..theres no life. Everyone on my friend list seems like bots. Bring back avatars, guide button, even the adds and ext…. all of that stuff kept us in the loop about whats going on. The dashboard is to simple and anti social.

    • disqus_icUCvMAJ5v

The consoles OS is ugly and cumbersome. It’s a real fail, A real pain to navigate and when I have to drop from my game to open the party app it’s all incredibly slow. The guide button on the 360 just brought up every relevant function right away, access to anything I needed to do was almost instant.

I liked the E3 presentation, it’s a good first step back to the right path. MS needs to bring the games if they want to turn Xbox One around.

    • Lucky13X

Your both not giving it a chance. You really need to use the dashboard with Kinect to see how good it is designed. However, my only issue with it is how slow it can become when you have multiple things running at once, and you are constantly going back home to avoid the slow snapping.

  • Msdos Exe

    Xbox always improving!

  • Stuart Triibal Cullinane

still no mention of the ability to play my media files straight off the usb like xbox360, should have been able to do this with my xboxone from launch—– you guys suck

    • bickle2

Well, since DLNA and USB support is mostly used by pirates (yes, I know 5% of you only rip what you own), what is the advantage to them to allow this?
I’ll tell you the same thing I told all the people whining about Netflix and Gold. Buy a Roku or similar device. More formats, more flexibility, no restrictions

      • Some guy

A load of the sales of console come from pirates by the way.
Getting them on their side would help the xbone a litte.

        • Nick Peck

A few thousand wouldn’t matter at all lol.

        • bickle2

A console sold at essentially cost, whose media focus relies on partners selling you digital media and subscriptions. How is this helping them again? You’re confusing big picture. How does it help Cbox to have this? Sony doesn’t either, I think that’s not a coincidence.

          • Some guy

The xbone couldn’t show battery usage at first so it’s hard to say if it’s because they are too lazy to do something about it or because they fear the might of pirates

          • bickle2

Prithee tell us oh wise one, how the battery indicator assists piracy

  • Jared

    GTA IV + DLC
    GTA V
    Forza Horizon
    Terraria
    RESIDENT EVIL REVELATIONS

    • Does Not Equal

Those are all old games. They announced new ones at E3.

      • BigBernard

        That’s fascinating.

        • Does Not Equal

          No.

          • Professor Oak

            yes

        • Liquidfx Xboxdude

          now it’s funny.

      • Hates bad writers.

These are the deals of the week. Or deals of the ‘weak’ as I call them.

  • roozbeh, again

Slim Xbox One that can be placed vertically.

Oh, and some new IP’s are always nice.

    • bickle2

Vertical shortens system life as it interferes with cooling. It is impossible to cool the system properly in the vertical position. You can’t do cool and quiet with so little exhaust space.

    • Liquidfx Xboxdude

i think the slim x1 is the one without kinect.

  • roozbeh, again

And Some Rare IP’s returning would be awesome.

    • Some guy

They are returning!… as DLC for kinect sport and Spark…
Oh well, at least they have it better then Mega Man.

  • Some Person

Feedback: Give us good and competitive sales. 3 totally unrelated games with poor discounts isn’t winning customer appreciation.

  • Riekopo

This is really great. I hope it’s linked to on more official sites so people know about it. Playstation 4 and Planetside 2 have a similar website.

  • bickle2

Build a Kinect mini with just the mic array. That’s the part people like. Don’t let them take the last major standout feature, and give them to all the core system buyers to restore ubiquity. No one likes gesture control. Everyone likes voice control who bothered to calibrate so it works properly.

For the love of god go on the attack. Sony just did a gigantic “numbers and TV” section after carpet bombing you for it. They show strength and confidence, which is the only thing better than humility. Stop listening to Sony fanboys and let them keep you spinning in circles.

Call Amir and some of your old HD DVD people to learn how to fight a war, just without all the scummy things they did. Sony’s been knee deep in their playbook for the last 18 months, except they have the market share to keep it up

    • Michael Burden

That’s a broad statement (“No one likes gesture control”) that is blatantly false. And it makes little sense to further divide your install base by introducing 1/2 a peripheral. Plus the fact the mic array alone is not enough to get all the Kinect features – you would have to also include the IR blaster as well as a receiver (in order to use the Media Remote). Best off keeping it as it is with a possible price reduction down the line and add further support to make it a “must have” item which is lacking at the moment.

      • bickle2

The IR blaster, and even IR camera for controller detection are cheap. It’s the 1080p cameras and depth sonar that are far and away the lions share of the build cost.

If you actually use the gestures to control the dash, you are the first person I’ve ever seen, and I’ve done polls and market research on it, who did so part the honeymoon stage.

  • evilfangs .

Finally we have a voice and will be able to change the things on Xbox one that are horrible and the things which should be in Xbox one.

  • Gazza!!!

I’m expecting the forum to be flooded with ”better deals” feedback every Tuesday from now on.

    • Some guy

Hopefully they’ll do something about it(and by that I mean not banning everyone like they love to do)
What DotW need is obviously more GTA sales.

      • Professor Oak

        You are in luck

    • Liquidfx Xboxdude

yeah but this is a gaming blog. a lot of the times the people are even on here is b/c they have absolutely NOTHING else to do or they are wasted.

  • Mark Easy

I guess i’m missing something. Why doesn’t the kinect have a cortina always on function with the kinect. Like when we say xbox on. Say cortina whats the temp today or use the webcam for security. It already has the always on function or did which i liked if they had these features. It seems to me we need to look beyond just gaming for xb1.

    • bickle2

1- because Cortana is on the phone first. They’re stupid if they don’t bring it to X1, but now with the Kinect not being in every box, I’m sure that motivation is reduced.

2- Low power mode is not designed for that level of processing. It’s listening for one command, and driving basic functions like update checks. Also, the devices 99% of people are using to allow the x1 to play audio are powered down when the system is

  • kevgallacher

Why are people posting their ideas/requests here? this article specifically talks about how they want all these ideas/requests in one place. Specifically the site it links to.

Where is Conker? I think all the community feel disappointed to see Conker on project spark. We want to see a Conker back in action on a new game.If you really listen to your costumers feedback as you say please yours costumers with a new Conker game

    • Eduardo Pereira

      Conker? “all the community”? bleh

    • Liquidfx Xboxdude

dude a lot of us never got around to playing conker because they kept pushing it back in the N64 days and we moved on. i don’t think as many people as you think are wanting a new Conker. being on Spark is prob as good as it is going to get for you.

      • llortretsam

Apparently enough played it for them to re-release it on the original Xbox back in 2005.

    • llortretsam

Microsoft wasted a lot of potential with Rare IP’s, Banjo and Perfect Dark were at one time on top of the video game world and now they just sit rotting, only remembered by the cheap trash games that Microsoft only made to cash in on the license early in the 360′s cycle. I think Microsoft only bought Rare and it’s IP’s just so no one else would have them, it’s a shame.

  • Liquidfx Xboxdude

i am stoked on the D4 game. that is worth price of admission alone. i am one of the ones who loved Deadly Premonition.

    • Liquidfx Xboxdude

in reality, i will play every game that comes out pretty much. gamefly is awesome.

  • Professor Oak

    Deals with Gold Please?

    • Professor Oak

Wow, already 10:00 AM (Central) and still no deals of the week

      • ImTheMetalLord

I was just thinking the same exact thing. I’m in central as well.

        • Professor Oak

Well, I guess the Major is busy at E3, guess we just need to be Patient

          • ImTheMetalLord

Get out of my head. LOL But someone’s got to post it. What is Jeff doing? Bet he’s still sleeping.

    • evilfangs .

Peggle 2 is £5.19 on Xbox one on deals with gold.

    • ImTheMetalLord

They are posted on xbox dot com now and nothing that we didn’t already know about from xbldb dot com accept as evilfangs mentioned Peggle 2 on the X1 is 50% off at $5.99

  • mauszx

You showing Conker in spark and make it say “well you can do the game now” was a big F… Off, we won’t make that game.

  • Some guy

I’m guessing a good idea would be to have regular DotW post instead of leaving that to the userbase. Power the the player doesn’t mean players have to do everything themselves you know.

    • Gazza!!!

      DotW no longer exists.

      • Some guy

        Wait, what? Really?
Its so stupid it could actually be true.

        • Gazza!!!

It is true, its now Deals with Gold.

          • Some guy

Oh, you got me, I really thought they stop having deals.

          • Gazza!!!

            :p

  • Brad

This is GREAT, as long as you actually listen this time and don’t wait for your console to fail before appealing to your shrinking base. Full HD support for the 360 (just like XB1) would be a nice start as that is still the console moving forward until next fall.

  • MossbergShottie

If you could somehow get the RE Remake on XBL I would go drop $400 on an Xbox One right now

    • Some Person

      agreed

  • Bryson Jack

The following quote is from Xbox Support:

“Currently, there is not an extension cable available for the Xbox One
Kinect sensor. If the 9-foot cable that came with your sensor is not
long enough, we recommend that you reconfigure your play space by moving
the sensor and console closer together.”

I have a home theater. I cannot “reconfigure my play space”. How about you guys make an extension cable for it for crying out loud?

There. You say you are listening. I look forward to buying it.

    • http://Www.mylifewithgaming.wordpress.com/ Mitchell Hall

So this article tells us they are now taking all of our feedback on this new website… so you decide to take your feedback and post it here. yes they say they’re listening…. but you obviously are not.

      • Bryson Jack

My comment was posted in the appropriate places and here in case they read this area as well. :)

    • chiron69

They sell them on eBay. ;-)

      • Bryson Jack

You got my hopes up! :) I checked eBay and all I could find were 360 Kinect extension cables which are not compatible with the Xbox One Kinect.

  • http://summified.com/ Ry L

Great news. There is already a lot of good stuff there. Question though, are items actually going to be marked as “in progress”, “completed”, etc?

  • Dave Breadner

External HD support for 360 should be tops. I don’t care if we can’t play original Xbox games on it since i already have an Xbox HD in my 360. I just don’t want to delete the games I’ve downloaded, and it’s insane to pay for Xbox HD’s when I can get 3TB for the same price.

    • chris

Not only that but it is worse that they stop at 320GB and there are not any bigger Hard Drives available for the Xbox 360.

  • chris

    Let me try this again.
On the feedback page on the Xbox website, there is an idea called -
Unlimited external storage for Xbox 360.
Everybody that owns an Xbox 360 should vote on that and let us see if this feedback thing will actually work.
It is already at 230 votes, we need this to get big.
Hope this does not get deleted again.

    • chris

278 votes now. Slowly getting there.

  • chris

Would it be possible for them to use the same external hard drive update on the Xbox One on the Xbox 360?

  • Jon Matus

I have been a dedicated xbox gamer since the original console. I own hundreds of xbox, 360, and one games, all of which I purchased new. I also buy every dlc for every game I own. I’m not claiming to be the only one, I’m simply stating a fact. I was extremely satisfied with what Microsoft announced at E3. On that note I was even more dissatisfied with what they did not. I can’t remember ever hearing about having console exclusive content in the past, and I am not talking about sony gets this gun Microsoft gets this one, I’m talking about people who buy Destiny on Sony systems get tons of exclusive content, and people who buy it for a Microsoft systems get nothing.

Bungie has said Destiny I s going to be updated and expanded, through dlc, expansions, and updates, for the next ten years. So I am led to believe that in the long run if I purchase the game for the Xbox One I might only have 90% of the maps, missions, and other content if I had bought it for the PS4. This generation I have already concluded I will be spending almost entirely on Destiny once it has released. How is it justified to spend the same amount of money for a game that is not complete on one console? I could care less about playing the beta or alpha first. Don’t get me wrong that would have been nice, but the real concern is the exclusive content. I am giving you the benefit of the doubt Microsoft, but please don’t let me down. I personally don’t care how much the game costs, I would pay any price to play this game on the Xbox One with a special edition console, and copy of the game, maybe a statue, and all the content. This game really is a determining factor whether or not I get a PS4. I don’t really care about the conflict between Microsoft and Bungie, keep your problems to yourselves, because you are allowing this squabble to interfere with what matters most, your fans.

Everyone please reply and let me know your thoughts

    • CXK

I normally don’t say things like this, but, isn’t kind of a slap in the face to MS for Bungie to make deals with Sony? I know its business, but they wouldn’t have that big of a business if it weren’t for Microsoft. Microsoft could have been uncool and said “Nope, you have to stay with us and keep making Halo games”. Instead they let them move on and do their own thing. It just seems like Bungie forgot a bit of where they came from, whether they have fond memories of Microsoft’s reign or not.

OT: I highly doubt the Sony exclusive stuff will be anything major to make you feel “left out”. The exclusive DLC’s have mainly been pretty boring and I never let it sway my preference no matter which console gets it.

      • Dylan

That’s exactly what Microsoft did. They only wanted Bungie to make Halo games and were notoriously against funding a new IP.

So Bungie aggressively pursued a split.

“Apparently MS just wants Bungie to make Halo for the rest of their natural days, and Bungie doesn’t like how MS is constantly trying to “handle” everything they do; the way they market their games, the way they interact with their fans (basically the fact that they do appreciate their fans), and how stingie they are with the profits (comparable to the rest of the industry). So as of today they are their own independent entity.”

      • llortretsam

And I don’t think the Xbox would be where it is without Bungie, Halo is by far the biggest exclusives Microsoft has had and was pretty much the only reason for buying an original Xbox back in the day, If Halo had started on the PS2 instead of the Xbox, there probably wouldn’t had been a Xbox 360 or Xbox One, if in any thing i think Microsoft owes Bungie.

        • chiron69

Also true. ;-) Although “PGR” and “That fighting game” (forgot the title) was also contributors to the first Xbox… But nothing compared to Halo of course..

      • StormRaging

Sorry I’m a bit late to reply on this but Activision made the deal with Sony, not Bungie. Publishers make these deals not the Devs. Just like EA was the one who gave Titanfall exclusivity not Respawn. Also so far all of the exclusive PS4 stuff is timed exclusive from what I’ve been reading.

  • DeAtH

Support this idea please… -Offline Boxart for Xbox 360 … is annoying see the games stored on hdd without box art.

  • chiron69

Great idea! And not too late, or early. ;-)
