Bueno por Barcelona

I am (finally) headed home today. It's been a helluva two weeks. So allow me to hit just a few of the highlights:

• We produced 11 videos in three days from the Tokyo Game Show and 8 videos in two days from X'06.
• Traveled over 17,000 thousand miles in less 12-days. I circled the globe completely (a first for me.) Another first: Part of the trip was in a Cargo plane.
• You can buy almost anything at a vending machine in Tokyo (yes, those are Uno cards)
• X'06 was packed with announcements, including:
  • Halo Wars
  • DOOM has come to the Xbox Live Arcade (Download it now !)
    • See the complete Holiday '06 (Christmas) list here
• We announced the HD-DVD Pricing and bundle
• I now know the best way to spend 200 yen at Narita Airport.
• The Xbox 360 will have an update that will allow it to support 1080p
• The Japanese are getting a the core system and Blue Dragon which could bring a lot of Japanese comnsumers onto the Xbox 360 platform
• I made a mental note to get Peter Jackson on a future podcast
• Everything taste better with an egg on top
• I need to bring my DS to the next time I am invited to a Sony briefing
• I need to let my hair grow when Guitar Hero for the Xbox 360 is released
• When I travel, I like to shoot photos that would make good desktop images on my computer.  
  This one was taken from the window of my 747 as it rolled into position for take off at Narita airport.

I am sure I'll think of more, so listen for a full recap on my next show, including my comments on some of the games I saw/played with over the past two-weeks. Speaking of shows, I am not sure if I'll do one this week since I really need to catch up on sleep Sunday. Also, I will get some of the videos we did for Xbox.com transcoded into iPod-ready formats and post those next week. BTW: I created a video iPod RSS feed for any future iPod videos I produce. Gotta run...boarding time.

Guitar Hero for Xbox 360

Today at the second day of X'06 I got my hands on the Xbox 360 version of 'Guitar Hero.' We also shot some video that will be on Xbox.com..so keep any eye out for that as well.





Edit: To be clear, the guitar I am wearing DOES have a wire...it's just not showing up well in this photo. Not sure what the plans are for wireless and the people from Guitar Hero were not talking.

Peter Jackson is onstage

He just walked by me and is on stage now...announcing a partnership to establish Wingnut Interactive, a studio dedicated to creating world-class interactive entertainment. Peter talked about a Halo project...not Halo 3...but something different.

Marvel MMO

Peter just announced a partnership between Microsoft Game Studios, Marvel, and Cryptic Studios, developer of the acclaimed City of Heroes. "Together we will create a truly epic game, Marvel Universe Online." It's a massively multiplayer online exclusive for both Xbox 360 and Games for Windows.

Splinter Cell and Forza 2

We just saw a Splinter Cell:Double Agent trailer, and mentioned Forza 2. Peter announced there will be 300 Cars on disc :)

Also: The next Splinter Cell has been announced as exclusive to Xbox 360 and Games for Windows.

HD-DVD Price

It will be an estimated retail price of €199 euros £129 pounds and $199 dollars. Available mid-November. Plus...it is being bundled with an Xbox 360 Universal Media Remote, and for a limited time, an HD-DVD copy of Peter Jackson's King Kong.

Bioschock and Lost Odyssey

The AC demo looked amazing. Wait until you see SOCIAL STEALTH. We also just saw a trailer for Bioshock...which looks just as good. Underwater New York scenes. Now on screen is a Lost Odyssey, which is coming to the rest of the world.
