Good interview Major, but that EA guy was spinning like LT against the Bengals today.

He justifies EA selling cheat codes on the marketplace as being no different from a Web site that posts cheat codes because the Web site has advertising? To paraphrase Shakespeare: Givest thou me a break! I might be a little bit sympathetic if it wasn't for all of the product placement within the EA games themselves (can you Say "Burger King"?) They should give out the cheat codes for free so people stay looking at the in-game ads longer rather than just hanging it up.

He also lamely claims that they're not selling anything for the 360 version of the games that's available for free in the PS2 or original Xbox versions. (He says he doesn't "think" so, but you'd think that with all of the brouhaha in recent weeks that he'd check to be sure.) Well, that may be technically correct, but it's not the whole story either.

In Godfather for the original Xbox, there exists the following cheat code:

Cheat: $5000

X,Y,X,X,Y, click LEFT ANALOG STICK.

Now, technically they aren't selling this on marketplace, but that code doesn't appear to be in the 360 version (if I'm wrong, please correct me, I don't have the game). Instead, to get almost the same functionality, they are selling various sums of in-game cash for Microsoft Points, which, as Yogi Berra might say, are just as good as money. (Frankly, if the $5k cheat is in the 360 version of the Godfather game, then EA's preying on the uninformed with their marketplace money is even more despicable.)

I'm also more than a little disgusted about the (Brain) Dedhead's talk about unlocking golf courses in Tiger Woods. I miss Links on my PC where you could just play whatever course you wanted whenever you wanted.

Major, here's one vote for bringing Links back to the 360.
