new demos are always a cool thing :)
Cool new demo's.
But why sports games?
In reply to FlyLikeAMouse:
NCAA = National Collegiate Athletic Association
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/NCAA
Anybody know what teams are in it? I read somewhere it was Florida and Kansas.
NCAA is the National Collegiate Athletics Association. It's the governing body for inter-collegiate sports in the US. Generally, when you see it on a title, it means the school names are in the game, but of course not player names (can't have players profiting from their hard work until they leave school, right?).
March Madness is the exciting time at the end of the basketball season when 65 teams (it used to be 64) compete for the national title. Since it's a single-elimination tournament, it's a huge media event. In the early rounds, games are on all day and into the night. In college basketball hotspots, work pretty much shuts down as people watch the games.
So... the game is a college basketball game. There you go.
The game play is terrible and there is only 2 camera views (broadcast & overhead). Why can't EA publish any good B-ball games? :(
A sports game demo for free? Guess $5 demos aren't until next year, lol.
Thumbs up.
@FlyLikeAMouse
Im the same as you, but i think its college basketball? I could be totally wrong.
@troyBORG & KevKalEl
Thanks for clearing that up for me.
Just downloading it now
Still if it's anything like EA's usual standard it'll be cack.
KineticOnline and FlyLikeAMouse.......Its American college basketball
In response to SneakySoulJAH:
NCAA isn't just Basketball. It's every collegiate sport, American Football, Baseball, Hockey, Volleyball, etc. However, NCAA March Madness is a Basketball game.
It's not a bad demo. I like what EA does with loading screens and whatnot. The physics still feel strange, with players moving as if they're wading in cement one moment, and then lightly gladly about the court the next. For now, I'll stick with 2k (it's a shame EA took the ESPN license from them).
Dang 4 demos in 1 week! Plus an arcade game. This is awesome!
why sports?
cus honestly theyre the best multiplayer videogames around
lookin forward to the download
ps defender is gettin some terrible reviews, and causin guys to call out arcade
is ms hearin this? cant be good publicity, ign killed the whole arcade almost in the review
no thanks, I love College Bball, but if its a game from ea, not interested. Im boycotting ea. 2k for me.
bob, why dont you download the demo and then judge? It doesn't cost you anything. I haven't been able to download it, as my 360 is making its way back to me from the repair centre, and I'm sure that the game will be quite bad compared to college hoops 2k7, but you may as well try it first.
Come on, Chip. You know you're missing out on 'choice' if you don't charge us for it. How can we have "CHOICE" with out paying for it? You made it clear in the interview that "Choice = Cost".
Maybe MS is saving us from EA-Holes by not allowing pay demos. I sure hope that's a policy, but I doubt it. Anyone have a PS3 yet? I've heard Sony is going for pay demos. I'd like to know if that's true, and are EA-Holes screwing the PS3 owners as hard as they're screwing us?
Sweet, I'll check it out. Anxiously waiting for College Hoops 2K7, though. 2K basketball r0xxors j00r s0xxorz off.
Don't ask. I'm not sure what I just said, either.
I have no problem with some of EA's online strategy. If I'm too lazy to build up my character in Tiger Woods, bam, I can do it for two bucks. [NOTE: Hey Chip - I'll pay $5 for Bethpage Black any day of the week.] I think it was a little disingenuous the way Chip danced around the code issues for other consoles. Yes, some codes were removed from the 360 and PS3 versions to allow charging for said cheats (cheats - not content). At the same time, I don't view a cheat as an entitlement. You have the choice to play the game to build up your golfer. Or, if you want to use a cheat code from the internet, you have the option to buy the xbox or ps2 version. I think Chip could have done a better job with some of the softballs Major lobbed out there for him. Just give people the truth.
I like Bungie's strategy with content downloads in the past - charge for them if you want them early (I bought them) while releasing them for a few months later. I fully expect to pony up a few bucks for the new multiplayer maps, although it would be cool if they were free (given the squirrely nature of Halo 2 play on the 360).
Is there era of paying for demos coming down the pike? I doubt it. I wouldn't have paid for the demo of Lost Planet. Who knows ahead of time if the game (or demo) is worth a crap. But because it was free, I downloaded it, played it, played it some more, and played it again. I will now buy that game on launch day. I'd say they would rather have my $60 than gamble on getting my $5 and no more. For what it's worth, I bought FEAR based on the demo.
Wow. Way off topic. Thinking Chip might read this, I had to make my case for Bethpage's Black course. Regarding this demo, I'll give it a try. I guess I just don't understand the full nature of the EA backlash.
"All Xbox Live members can now download the following content"
"Available in: Canada and the U.S."
So, not ALL then....
This is getting ridiculous. Why not just release everything in America and not bother with the rest of us. The excuses don't cut it any more. Some "worldwide" system this is!
Thankfully this is not available in Europe! Yes!
The PS3 has been destroyed:

Go Heels!
Also do not go EA I hate you guys
I would think that there are licensing issues and the like which restricts EA and MS from releasing demos in all regions. What benefit would it be to leave out certain areas? None that I can see. I think the world wide strategy has been pretty good so far. At least MS tried for a world wide release of their system. When does Europe get the PS3? Sometime next year?
