Always wanted to visit the Xbox Campus? Well next week you can. The XNA team is holding an open house next week right here at our offices. They have XNA demos and tutorials planned, plus make sure you bring your own XNA project to show off. If you have not done a project yet, you still have time to download XNA Studio express and spend the weekend whipping up a game. Maybe I need to bring my mic and record all the fun for a upcoming show. See you next week.
[XNA Game Studio Express Launch Event/Open House details]
I just might have to pop over and check it out.
Major are u goin to be on hand if so ill bring some thing to get autographed (if i can go)
Sweetness, too bad I'm in Canada :(
I made this game called Space War with my XNA program. I'm sure everyone will enjoy my presentation on it.
Is the rest of the Xbox campus going to be open? I am not very interested in the XNA stuff, but the rest of the campus I'm sure would be interesting.
Major, seriously now - what on Earth are you talking about?!? Mics??
GET DOWN THERE WITH A VIDEO CAMERA - I'M IN THE UK!! I WANNA SEE *EVERYTHING* THAT GOES ON OVER THERE!!!
wish i lived a little closer. . .
I'll be off work by 6:00 PM, so I'll probably drop in for a while.
LetsKillDave should have bright orange posts too.
Major Nelson,
Please catch someone from the Backwards Compatiblity team in a Bear Trap and get some answers from then about the next update. It has almost been 4 months since the last one :(
^^ stop playing old games.
"^^ stop playing old games."
I'll play what I want thankyou very much!
M-S should do regional launch events for XNA instead of just an open house at one location. I remember having so much fun, and getting free stuff at the various Visual Studio and Windows XP launch events.
thats cool. i like the xbox buidlings and such. i was there for the backstage pass thing for halo 2 it was fun.
Sorry NZ, I gotta agree. Why are you playing old games? I mean retro games are one thing, but last gen games? Come on. I have so many good games on my plate, I never know what to play. If you want to play old crap so bad, use your orig xbox, you obviously have one. I admit I play Halo2 now and then but that's halo. (Double standard) Get with the times my friend. Rent some games if you’re poor. And quit complaining, you sound like Screech. (You know, the talented young-ish actor with dreamy eyes on the hit show 'Saved by the Bell')
Wet Vein, forgive me for being rude, but to denounce a backlog of games on xbox1 just because its "last gen" is just idiocy. Imagine thinking the Wii sucks just because it looks last-gen. Play splinter cell chaos theory (on your 360) and tell me it looks bad.... it looks better then alot of the launch 360 games. Plus nothing beats the fun of games like Deathrow or whatnot...
Personally I don't use BC all that much, but to say that no one should is just dumb.
Maybe you could make the next show a video 'cast!
Hmmmm. Already gonna be there on Saturday for a playtest but is it worth another trip out on Monday night?
Pros:
1. Definitely 'curious' about XNA.
2. I'm always up for learning something new.
3. A good chance to meet other community folks.
Cons:
1. That drive from Seattle sucks from 530-630
2. Will I ever feasibly use XNA? Probably not.
3. Major might try to stab me for mocking that green shirt.
Based on my pros and cons, wonderful MN.com Community, should I make the drive out from Seattle?
would be wicked if some of the major community programmers can make it... I REALLY hope theirs some video footage of how it goes because im out of the country now....
maybe some classes on "the advanced stuff" like shaders etc hehe and how to make community based games look ... well... non communityish hehe
I will be there, I will be going for XBL Radio and covering it and doing some meet and greats. I look forward to seeing what is in store for us and then informing our awesome listeners about it.
I will also be recording this with video for some of you guys if you want
phantam, torque x will be available soon enough, that's a 3d engine designed specifically for XNa. that should cover your advanced stuff, shaders and give the community an avenue for more profesional results.
hopefully it's going to be similar to the torque shader engine used in marble blast but i'm just hoping.
They need to keep working on their BC catalog, I mean, i traded in my xbox in hopes that it would be BC, but the list of 300 plus games...yeah wow, but only 23 of my 128 xbox game collection are on the list. That puts me at 105 and counting that can not be played. I have a grip of fighting games like Marvel vs. Capcom 2 and KOF and what not, but i can't play them anymore.
Major, think you could comment in your next podcast whether or not they are still pushing forward? Just a simple, "Yes we are still pushing forward" or a "No your screwed" would be nice.
This XNA stuff is pretty intriguing, i'm checking it out now, and may need to plan a road trip.

cool, i'll just jump on a plane then. shouldn't take me too long from the UK :-(
Unfortunatelly I can't be there, cause I have to take a plane from Italy! *depressed*
