Those Flickr links in the linkdump...
Wow.
That is one nice set up he has there.
woo
MAJOR...Its not up on the ZUNE mp
My first game was either tetris or super mario bros. Can't remember. I prefer FPS though, Halo was the game that really opened my eyes to what games could be. Therefore I can say that e's theory kinda works seeing as I'm good at first person shooters.
Love the new theme music, especially at the end. I can just picture you and e sitting at a newsdesk talking to each other, inaudible, with the camera pulling out slowly.
Great interview with Sig. Thanks for the blogcast.
Congrats major on passing 17k. I just passed 18k...WINNER!
e makes an interesting observation...
I basicly started off playing RPGs (Kings Quest) and flight sims (X-wing baby! Remember boot disks folks??)...
And honestly, while I don't play a lot of RPGs, I did LOVE KotOR and Mass Effect, and I love air-combat games (Crimson Skies and Combat Ace)...
I tend to be pretty good at those too, though FPS and such tend to hold my attention more, just because they have pretty explosions...
New show intro sounds like SimCity musicback from SNES
Does "e" have a flickr account?
I started with the best FPS ever made HALO Combat Evolved. So I do play lots of FPS. I do play other kinds of games, not so much driving, flying or sports though.
The arcade game Moon Race on the Commodore 64 (cartridge no less!) was one of the very first "commerical" games I ever played. Questron by SSI was another. A lot of my early games were typed in from BASIC on the Commodore 64. Compute!, Compute's Gazette, Ahoy!, Run, even Family Computing! I got an Atari 2600 shortly thereafter, and that had Combat, Asteroids, and Adventure. Later Yars Revenge (remember when this one was a possible XBLA title?). At school there was the Apple IIc and IIe and that is where I was introduced to text parser adventure games. Arcade Games were the classics, from Space Invaders to Pacman and most cabinets in-between. Crystal Castles and Congo Bongo were other early personal favorites.
I have been playing video games for a long time. And I have no regrets about that.
XBox 360 - Life is one big game. One life, no continues. Hit Enter/Start to begin.
In Auburn, WA (the town I grew up in) there is still a six screen drive-in theatre. It is really between Kent and Auburn and should take you about a half hour from the Eastside to get there. http://valleydriveins.com/
I was trying to think of a place that had good burgers and also beer for Sig for a meet and eat. I came up with the Deluxe Bar & Grill on Capitol Hill. Their burgers have won awards and they have a solid happy hour. It is no Red Mill. (www.zagat.com/.../PropertyDetails.aspx). People's Pub in Ballard would be close to the docks if that matters and they have a solid burger. (http://www.peoplespub.com/). If you wanted somewhere where under 21'ers could go then while the burgers are OK but not great but you would have a lot of choices, you could do a Red Robin. Red Robin restaurants were started in Seattle (www.redrobin.com/.../history.aspx).
I was a Pong (Radio Shack TV Scoreboard -- without the gun version -- www.old-computers.com/.../computer.asp), Atari 2600/Colecovision guy. I tend to do well on platform games. I am not good a fighting games. I am not sure there is a correlation.
hey Major the portion of the show where you were talking about the drive-thru in Connecticut on the Berlin Turnpike im sad to say but they just torw down the last one to put some condos up... but i definately wish they had brought it back up but oh well... there all gone just like arcades
Finally, a real interviewee on the show! Everyone, including Major and e, is really fake. The only real person was Sig Hansen. He's not a rehearsed marketer. He is selling his game, but he still sounds like a real personality. Best part of the show by far.
Hey e
I started out on the adventures and rts games (indiana jones, day og the tentacle, dune, dune II). And since one of those genres is nearly extinct, I pretty much suck at everything, although I'm really good at collecting stuff achievements ;)
No, I'm just kidding, I do think it helped me, because I've got some pretty decent tactical skills, which are usanle in most FPS / RTS games nowadays.
Where's my comment? I was saying that the interview with Sig was the best because he is the only real guy on the show.
What's a Poojo?
Ooooh! A Peugeot! Silly me. :P
Good show!
