Too little too late.
I traded this game a long time ago and for them to be raving about a free update that just incorporates features that are already in the single player campaign is just... well.. EA to a tee... CHEAP!
Cool
EA = Cheap? First of all it's Criterion not EA and secondly, what's cheap about a company giving something away for free?
Does this include an additional area to drive in, or is it only an extension of the gameplay types?
why a gold account to get this?
@T360UK Chief: If you played enough of Road Rage, or Marked Man in Paradise you would have known why they originally chose to leave them offline. They are listening to their fans here and probably had to alter the games significantly to make them online in a huge open city. Can you also please show me where the "70 Timed Online Challenges" are in the single player game?
Any other dev/pub relationship would be charging an arm and a leg for this.
Well personally any free update to a good game is welcome in my book. Can't wait for the new island. Now that will be something to shout about.
Gotta say T360UK CHIEF, it may be the same game modes but opens up a whole level when marked man is chase by real drivers and not AI.
Wish I'd have called in sick today
STFU and GTHO
T360UK CHIEF, KEYWORDS of YOURS "SINGLE PLAYER"! It's NOW multiplayer. And I must say "Shame, SHAME ON YOU for trading in an AWESOME game!" Well, if it does not matter to you, then do not worry. I'm psyched about it myself!
COMMERCIAL: FaceBreaker is AWESOME! Finally played it last night. I like it! Some parts are cheap, but it is funny as heck - lose or win "POW!. . . Dannnnnnnnnnnng!". Check it!.
Burnout Paradise Cagney Update - sounds good. And you KNOW EA is going to put some extra extra cool stuffs in there. Its free, nice, but HOW large is the update going to be (under 350MB, please)?
Wow, can't even give it away for free without people complaining.
This is great news!
I think you need a gold membership as most of the features are online features.
Love it, but how do we get the new cars?
I am gonna have to play this update when I get back next week. Finally they have online marked man.
The point I am making is that it brings NOTHING new to the game that people haven't already done before.
And in my opinion it is stuff that should have been in the multiplayer on release.
The way Microsoft has been running the Market Place is just plain stupid.
Not only are silver members barred from accessing demos when they are released (which is their idea of making the gold subscription more desirable, I remind you all a couple of years ago Silver members could download demos at the same time as gold members, the objective of a demo is to evaluate a game, and good demos will drive us to buy a game we'd never consider buying otherwise - for example Crackdown, why make silver members wait for a demo, if a demo IS just a marketing tool, which might help sell a game, or otherwise hype it under word of mouth), but now we are also DENYED access to FREE UPDATES to our games, updates which were released a month late, in comparison to the PS3 update which was released in July (where everyone got the update, not just gold members). That's just too damn stupid. (I'm ocasionally a gold member, right now, I don't have any reason to pay 60 euros because there is no game I want to play online). If I had a PS3 and Burnout Paradise, not only was I enjoying the update for over a month now, but I could also play online free of charge.
I see this going one of two ways. We'll either have free Xbox Live in some time, or we'll end up paying for patches and fixes, which isn't so far off, right now, we have to pay a Gold subscription to access the 1 month late FREE (did I mention it's FREE!) update for Burnout...
I mean the "service" fee, was never much justifiable. I always saw it as a premium club, where you were paying mostly for "matchmaking". MS didn't host games, they didn't eliminate the problems of host avantage, etc by hosting games themselves, that's still up to the players, and the host still has the avantage (not to mention cheating was rampant in some games like Halo 2, due to this - why would I bother paying for a service that in the important part of it (gaming) is as good as a free service). XBox Live Gold, is what GameSpy Arcade was a great deal of years ago. A payed service to list a bunch of online games being played right now.
I never liked Sony tactics, but as of now, MS is milking their online service so much I'm starting to look at it with very bad eyes. I know I won't boycott it, because if there is something I want to play, I will.
But maybe next gen I (and other people) will start taking this into consideration when choosing a console brand. Most people end up siding with a console, because honestly, we don't have money to buy both. Exclusive games are nice, but I look back, and the last 3 or 4 games I played hardcore were multiplatform (CoD4, SC4, Burnout Paradise). And there will always be desirable exclusives for every platform no matter which one you choose...
-A very annoyed XBox gamer
Come on t360uk, i swear ever since message boards became popular all anyone ever does is complain about EVERYTHING. So what if burnout put out an update, it's a free upgrade to a game that's already great. They are going to be putting a lot more updates out as well, they could have just put any new features they've been working on in a new game, like say Madden. But they didn't, it's free, STOP COMPLAINING
It doesn't really matter that they are adding new modes like Marked Man online, because nobody ever does anything in Paradise except the stupid challenges. Nobody ever races, and I'm sure nobody will ever do Road Rage or Marked Man in multiplayer.
Chief - being able to play these modes online is new. It's also a lot of fun. Yes, it should have been in the game at first, but it's here now, and for free.
And nothing new? There are new cars and community-created skins for some of the existing ones. There are 70 new multiplayer challenges as well. I don't see how you could possibly complain about this unless it was sour grapes for getting rid of your copy too early.
Oh and pacart, this update is only for Gold users because it is all multiplayer-only. There is an Auto-Update available that you'll get next time you put the game in that will give you all the single-player benefits like retuning the takedown physics and such.
I'm not complaining about it at all, but what you have to realise is that it is all down to a marketing strategy from EA to hold back on a few things, then release it later for free to make people think they care.
And you have all fallen for it in some way or another.
Are you telling me that EA and Criterion never considered putting these modes in at launch and did no work in the background to that effect?
I just want people to think about things from a different perspective and see the bigger picture.
I am not here to quash anybodys love for the game and if you do, then good for you, but please don't succumb to the "if it's free then they care about their community", especially where EA is involved.
Just been playing it for the last 2 hours and i love the new online marked man. 2 new cars in multi-play to use are good. nice change to the airfield make it easyer to do the jumping. so all in all not bad for free.
oh man, i've been waiting for this for a while!!
Ooh, it's all orange and stuff. =D
this game is great and it is going to get even better
WOW. Just WOW. Holding back A FREE BUG FIXING GAME UPDATE FROM SILVER? Outside of any future Rock Band interations as long as this keeps up I AM NEVER EVER BUYING OR EVEN RENTING ANOTHER MULTIPLATFORM GAME ON THE 360. I already bought this game on the PS3 because you held the demo back so had the update weeks ago but this is WAY TOO FAR. 100% UNACCEPTABLE.
