I think all the doubters are the same people that were saying that Pacman C.E. couldn't possibly be worth $10 when it was released. And it totally was.

I don't know, but aren't there enough shooters on XBLA??? I'm actually surprised at the lack of SPORTS games.
I would KILL for a modern update to a game like Baseball Stars, or NHL '94.
When I say modern update, I mean, make a sports game with the fast, and fun, arcadey play of those games, but update them graphically for this generation...like Bionic Commando did.

I'm thinking the need for sports games on XBLA is kind of dampered by the unending, giant wave of retail sports games we get every year. That said, I think there are a handful of sports arcade games from the 90s that'd work well on XBLA (that people would be interested in). NBA Jam with 4-player online play on XBLA would be heaven.
What XBLA is in dire need of, imo, is more fighting games. We're getting Samurai Shodown II and Street Fighter 2 DHRemix sometime this year, but after that theres nothing else in the pipes.
A lot of people here are discouting this title saying it may be one of the weakest games of the 'Summer of Arcade'. Honestly, it's been a great month already and Bionic Commando is probably the weakest game so far and I LOVE IT. Galaga is going to be kickass no doubt, a day one purchase for me. Geometry Wars is kick ass and Braid has been universally acclaimed. Galaga will be right up there with BC and GW2, another great title for XBLA. To top it all off Castle Crashers looks like another stellar title and now Duke Nukem has passed certification and should be out soon and I would hope we also see SSF2T HD soon. What a great time for arcade.
I really want Galaga Legions to be a great game. I have been playing the original Galaga since it was a new arcade game and have been eagerly waiting for a second game. If Legions moves too far away from what the original game was it will be a sad day for me. everybody should at least try the demo before deciding about this game.
I will play the trial, and then decide from there.
I still do not understand what is so 'amazing' about Pacman C.E. Actually, I never even understood what was so great about the original Pacman. Its just blip-blip-blip-blip-blip. Very pointless. I see nothing fun in it at all.
Galaga is one of my favorite old school arcade games, probably my favorite actually. However, I'm not sure I like what I've seen so far from this title but I will certainly play it before I pass judgment on it.
I agree with anon 31. Were not getting the type of games we ask for. Too many shooters and ahem original games. Yes we need more Fighting games, speaking of which has anyone any news on Samurai Shodown 2?

This is by the team that made PacMan CE, so anyone writing it off already is an idiot. This may well turn out to be the best XBLA game this summer.
I'm glad to see Galaga legions... I expect to like it somewhat more than GeoWars 2... I think it's cool the game has a "retro mode" for it's graphics, as well as the new updated look.
This game takes the Galaga concept (time your shots well, in order to take out an approaching armada of enemies) and ramps it up to 11. The Sattelites are a nice additon, since they allow the old ship to keep its "I only shoot forward!" motif, yet also give access to the more modern "I can cover all corners!" gameplay at the same time.
If you bypass this game, thinking "it's just another shooter!", you're cheating yourself on what COULD be a very fun experience!
Shooters where a genre that defined the arcade, so I have NO problem with them being on XBL (C'mon, give us more!) I hope some company comes up with an original fighter, or some more beat-em-up/brawlers soon, as those genres are lacking on XBLA. (Guardian Heroes HD/3, Please!)

Braid is Amazing!
I'm surprised so many people are simply shrugging of this Galaga like nothing... not only was galaga amazing but Galaga Legions here actually LOOKS EVEN BETTER... I am buying this soo hard... This and Castle Crashers.. So far I have purchased every summer arcade game except for Bionic Commando, didn't like it but Galaga and Castle Crashers will rock. Again, I was surprised by the first page.. figured a lot of people would be hyped for this.

I wonder what makes them so sure Castle CASHers (1200 LOL) will be any good, Alien Homonid was average at best afterall.

The game looks good but to me it looks like they just needed to make some money and threw together a crappy version of the game by adding tons of ships in funky patterns instead of making it a real challenge. Oh and they added that weapon/ship thing so you can change which way it aims from the side or whatever.
Its not worth it. And I didn't even see the price but I don't even need to scroll up to use my extremely big brain to guess its...oh....800? lol. As if MS charges anything else for games that are small or crappy or have no replayability. Take your pick. 90% of the games are one of those options.
And BTW it MS that makes the price NOT anyone else. They said so in multiple interviews. Because they don't want developers giving stuff away for cheap/free. Even though its the developers game not MS's. LAME. I'd buy Braid if it wasn't 800. The game is so short. No end level makes any game worth that much. Not when theres no replayability and its really short.
Speed run in 45 minutes? lol. Full game isn't that long then.

- You're right, Pac-Man C.E. was worth the purchase price. Who knew that a simple revamp and some cool techno music could breathe new life into that game!?!!?
But with Galaga Legions, I'm doubting it is going to be on my 'Buy Soon' list. Galaga Legions look awesome - I'm a fool for 'dazzling neon colours' and scifi space-alien killing. This Christmas I'm giving just about everybody Microsoft Point Cards and recommmending games I have.
If I truly had to complain, I really wanted a 2 Player Competition on Pac-Man C.E. -i.e. who can eat the most power pellets or who can survive the longest. Two player craziness.
I need to see it before I buy it as usual. Looking at the photos on xbox.com, I might end up buying it on Sunday. I love Frogger, Missile command and Centipede (though I wish I had the track ball for the Xbox360 to play it correctly).

Now if CARNAGE RULES can get me a 120GB HD for my Xbox360 for $100, buying XBLA Games would not be an issue. Price is not the only thing that deters me from buying a game. Storage Space and How Many Times I play it does play a role.
Galaga Legions will not be the weakest game of summer Arcade. Galaga is a legend, so it can never suck. (until your battery dies or your power goes out.)

- Hmmmm... If you do not get or like Pacman, you know that that means.... "YOU'RE AN ALIEN!". Just kidd'in. It means that game is not for you. Like Nascar for me - I just don't get why guys like going around and around and around in a loop - dangerously in steel caged cars? Why would I want to play a video game of it? That's me. Now pop in a racer such as Burnout or Ridge Racer series (sorry, I'm not into Project Gotham Racing either) and I'm IN! Each his own, sir. Each his own.
I'm looking forward to this as a big Galaga fan, although i have heard it doesn't play like an original Galaga game, i'm a little disapointed its a twin stick game as it means i can't use my arcade stick. I'm not sure why so many people are whining about this being the worst game this summer, Braid was disapointing, the emperors new clothes, and Geometry Wars 2 was just like the first but twice as expensive with a couple more modes.
Also i'm sick of people complaining about there being too many shooters. Shmups are the ultimate games, and fans of this genre have suffered for years with a lack of releases so its great to have some coming out. Microsoft need to pull their finger out and get Ketsui and Do Don Pachi Dai Ou Jou out in the US and Europe when they come out, enough with the rubbishy indy games.
I think it's probably an age thing. Those of us who grew up in the 80s playing these kind of games are really excited. Kids who grew up on Nintendo 64 and Pokemon probably don't care so much.
