This week, we take a look how how some games will use Avatars when the New Xbox Experience is available on November 19th. More words about it over at the Gamerscore blog, or you can sit back and watch the video:
awsome can't wait
LOL @ the guys outside the window..... nice editing :)
Oh my gosh that looks AMAZING, really looking forward to the NXE
cool, i cant wait to figure out how they integrate them in some of the current titles that are out or even if they will. it would still be nice if the developers open up gear for your avatar for doing stuff in game.
Looking forward to the NXE also but I'm just wondering how much developers are seriously going to use the avatars in games. Hopefully it'll will be a fair amount.
Looks pretty cool, though I think I wanna see it more to get a better understanding and appreciation for them. One comment though, was it me or was there a bit of a glare whenever the camera was on Major?
Cant wait till the 19th!!
Video proof of that guy denting someones car, hehahah!
This is gonna be so much fun. I for one and many of my friends love this feature. I know if you go into the forums there are haters. I am so excited for the future of XBL. I hope the Avatar store will be available soon after or at launch of the NXE. I have to make sure I look good for my fans...lol
Can't Wait til the 19th
That *actually* looks pretty cool - when it was first announced, I was dubious, thinking it would dilute the experience somehow, but the more I see of it, the more I'm liking it!
I'm afraid I may HAVE to wait till after the 19th. That next day I'm opening a show, so I'm going to be doing very little gaming, though I may (MAY) get at least *some* NXE time in before I open.
BJ
Can we say Mii's? At least try and make em not look like nintendo.
Few weeks to go, its nearly there, next friday my copy of GOW2 Limited Edition gonna keep my mind off NXE for a lil while.
Peace...
there must be another way to get the nxe early hardly any one got in. if its finished why isnt it just released early, i dont see the point in waiting
Nice, but still once it's there then we can really say what we like about it or don't
So far they look better then de Wii versions LOL!
And no Nintendo was not the first to start use Avatars maybe the first for console use yes but not in general.
Chop!!
JUST got my NXE 'preview' on my Xbox.. I have to admit, I don't hate the avatars as much as I thought I would, but they are still kinda fruity. The selection options for the avatars is somewhat limited.. some parts have pages of options while other stuff (like the clothing) is kinda limited. Ultimately I think what will make or break the avatars is going to be the options we have in creating them, and if it's going to cost MS POINTS to get new stuff for them. I hope that doesn't happen, but wouldn't be shocked if it did. But the rest of NXE so far is really awesome, I REALLY like the new layout, the way that they handled the 'old style' themes actually looks nice (I have my Fallout 3 theme up right now, and it looks good!) So, I admit it, I was wrong, this update isn't bad at all. I'm installing my games to the hard drive now, the process doesn't take very long, Fallout 3 took about 5 minutes to put on my 120gig drive. If anyone cares I'll post some more of what I've experienced in the NXE later on. Cheers all! Thanks for the preview Major!
The whole point of waiting is to draw more and more anticipation from xbox users/and potential xbox holiday shoppers for the nxe, with all the videos out there people are like "wow I can't wait" and as time gets closer you get more and more anxious to see what it's like for yourself. It's all a marketing scheme. Especially with the holiday season right around the corner. They want to ensure that nearly everybody knows about the new experience, before they throw it out there for use. Including potential ps3 or wii shoppers.
when i first heard Bomberman mentioned i thought they were going to say you could use your avatar as your bomber. Thats probably a bit much to hope for though in a already finished game.
Forgot to add, but as I see more and more videos of the nxe, I just keep getting more and more anxious! I honestly can't wait, everyhting about it seems awesome. NETFLIX support right around the corner, no more playon messing up on me!
Seems like Mii's to me. . .
I forgot to mention, they finally added a feature that I've been waiting for.. the option to turn off 'auto-play' for when you insert game disks. I'm not talking about the existing setup where it won't play the disk when you turn the console on, I'm talking about when the xbox is on and you put in a new disk.. now you have the option for it to not go directly into the game. It's not an earth shattering 'new feature' just something I personally wanted to thank them for adding. Thanks again Major for the chance to take an advanced look!
Can participants of the Preview Program (like me) use the avatars in the mentioned games right now?
Don't mean to spam, but it's also interesting that my 'new' gamer picture doesn't show up here on the site (at least for me)... when you're setting up the NXE it asks you to take a picture of your avatar to set as your gamer pic (which is shown to 'everyone', as opposed to the personal one that is only shown to your friends). I also just noticed that the 'last played games' list that it shows is all outta wack, I haven't played those games in a while! I'm sure it's just little bits and pieces that they'll start to get on top of as the 'REAL' release of NXE goes live. If anyone has any questions for me to check, please feel free to ask, or message me on XBL! Cheers! :)
