Woot! Beat Major and Microsoft itself to this story on my CAG blog. Guess it pays to still play Halo 2 (PC).

Seems slick enough, reminds me of the whole Windows LIVE stuff and MSN.

I just got it all downloaded and installed on my PC. I like it! It looks really cool plus those in my friends list with avatars as their gamerpics I can see those avatar gamerpics via the new GFW LIVE dashboard even though I can't on the xbox or xbox.com yet.

I got this as I was playing Fallout 3 last night (making my way through the Capitol Building at the time). My game happened to crash (perhaps I was kicked? I don't know...I was getting a lot of crashes last night) right as the update went live. I got it installed and looked around in it for a bit. I love the update and the news I read on Shacknews today about Microsoft making it more of a platform for digital distribution makes me happy. While I love Steam...there's certain games that just don't make it there...and to me they feel like they are left out and floundering by themselves with some lame Games for Windows label on it (and only a label...right now it just doesn't feel like anything). I love the idea that it will now represent a platform on the PC. I think that is an excellent move on Microsoft's part. I can't wait to see what it will mean for the PC. I hope this means a tighter integration of the 360 and the PC. While I don't want to see PC games get dumbed down to work alongside their Console counterparts...I do want to see the integration that is starting to happen between the 360 and PC. Fallout 3 was my first experience with GFWL...and so far I like it. I like that my games on my PC can be combined with my games on my 360 in one single account. I'm looking forward to what Microsoft can do with the Live Platform (the combination of XBL and GFWL).

Hey Major, when is Games for Windows going to get casual games like Uno and a standalone program like Steam? My PC can't run anything that released after 2004 so all GFW titles are absolutely out.

Oh... man, this update comes along and I've lost my copy of Universe at War... gah!  I've gotta find that...

I like it, but what would really push GFW Live is a standalone app that allows us PC users to chat and IM with our Xbox Live friends from the PC. This is good timing, too, with the Fallout 3 as a GFW Live title.

Hmm . . . still waiting for that stand alone application for Windows LIVE.  Microsoft you have me worried with all the promises you made for PC gamers.

I don't have any Games for Windows Live titles yet currently. Still hoping for an eventual release of a standalone Games for Windows Live client.

I also hope for a standalone app.

Just tried it with my copy of Gears of War (Windows). Works great and looks great. I like it a lot although the color scene is kind of bright. I wish I could make it a little less vibrant.

It's nice.  The feature set isn't anything new, for us, though the layout and graphics really improve on the old design.  I'd say that it looks far better than the 360's guide, though I haven't quite scene what's in store with the NXE.  Overall, good job.

It looks too cold to me though I don't care, I don't use Games for Windows Live.

Microsoft seems obsessed with cold designs. Are they working in overheated environment?
