code at the end of the show gone already, wow.
Sorry Shane86 :),
I got it. Finally I win something from Major Nelson. You truly are the best! I am glad I did not sell GTA IV yet!
Thanks for posting the show Major.
ya those codes fly so fast.
People are amazingly quick! can major tell who wins these codes so fast?
I may not give out codes anymore in the show. It seems people are more interested in codes than the interviews .
Hi Major Nelson, I would like to know how or when we can get the deal of the weak for Braid (800 MP instead of 1200 MP) you talk about in your show. Is this only for US? Thank you.
@ IconicSoul, I have lost and damned already, so enjoy it
@Major, I listen to the show too, you just have to be insanely quick to get a code.
hey major you should add the codes to name the game winners so more people have a chance to win.
Major Nelson: you don't think that's also why people watch this blog or your twitter?
Major, I recommend you still post codes but do it like you did the last one. I actually listen to your podcasts for information. The codes make it a little more interactive. I subscribe on the Zune software as well. You provide great information. I feel the Xbox 101 could be a little more advanced. Otherwise, I love the interviews. Especially Felicia Day. It was cool hearing her out of character.
It's just weird that there seem to be multiple codes in your hour 15 minute show, and all were gone within 1 minute... We know it's not your "obligation" to give out codes, and it's nice that you do, but it sucks that people who actually listen to your show in it's entirety don't get a chance, but people who just jump on your website and skip through your podcast just for codes do get them.
Maybe instead of getting rid of codes altogether, you could try to come up with some system where you dont say codes in your show, but instead sort of a name the game thing (as someone mentioned) where it's more by chance and actual participation... Maybe 1st place gets the Turtle Beach, 2 runners up get codes, etc...?
How about a LIVE show already major, you can still do your interview bits throughout but imagine given the response to your shows. Whether or not it is codes some users are looking for, you could interact with your loyal followers via your chat room or call-in formats. I think then you get people actively participating and you could throw some users codes based on there participation or for various other reasons.
GREAT idea there... I would definitely be interested in a live show; I was listening to another podcast yesterday where they were talking about how live shows also benefit the hosts because users can pitch in things to talk about, that the host(s) might find interesting. Maybe you and e could just record it live, without interviews, on whichever day/time you normally record, and later you could edit together a full version of the show WITH interviews to post up on Sunday?
Larry, I'd applaud a decision to stop codes in the middle of the show. I listen to the show mid-week (since I am east coast, it doesn't make my Sunday iPod update), so the codes are just a bit of very tedious audio...especially when you & Eric give them out back-to-back like you did last week.
Yeah, I agree with VS VeNoM SHOT. I think some kind of fair system to getting codes would be much better than the speed and total lack of regard for content that is caused by the current system. I've always listened to your shows because of your and Eric's conversations, and of course the interviews, and not for the codes, but I would enjoy the chance at actually getting them (I have a horrifically slow connection for downloads).
Still, if you feel the need to ditch the codes, feel free. Just keep the rest of the show as close to what we've come to know and love as possible. I've been listening since your appearance on the Bungie Podcast, and I've come to love the much more regular updates (weekly, not every six months).
Random request: if at all possible, get Frank O'Connor on your show. I'd love to hear from Frankie again, and I have a feeling you'd get quite a few new listeners from Bungie.net.
I totally agree with the idea of giving the codes away as additional prizes for Name the Game. One person wins the headset/main prize per usual, and then one additional name draw from the correct entries for each code you have on hand.
In fact, if you did that rather than dropping the codes in Twitter posts and 12seconds videos, I think it'd benefit far more people, and you might experience less of a frenzy from people who want free codes more than content. You could still drop beta invites and early demo access codes like you always do through Twitter/12secs, and create interest/appreciation that way.
Just my thoughts.
I recommend that you distribute the codes through the show or just have some shows with codes at the end in the after show. I don't know how else you can do it other than give people codes for Name the Game as was said. You could also secretly or publicly email people who win Name the Game but don't win the 1st place prize. Do like two more drawings and send them codes.
Otherwise you're at a Lost and possibly Damned.
Oh, nothing really important, but you never closed the parentheses around the explanation of the link dump.
I use my ASUS EEE 1000H for school. I love it :). I put Windows 7 on mine. Works great :D. Works better than XP IMHO!
How is it possible you went through the whole podcast, bringing up Halo Wars, GTA4 L&D, Capcom, RE5, even Oneechanbara and you didn't even mention what is one of the biggest games of 2009, just released STREET FIGHTER 4?
By the way, Oneechanbara is pronounced a bit like this : Oh-nayy-chan-bara, say that quickly and it'll sound pretty right. Chan is pronounced like you'd say 'Cha' but with the 'n' on the end, the a's in bara are also pronounced the same.
The codes are cool and all, but I never even ever bother to try because I know someone scanned through the MP3 really quick and found it before me, I like to put the file on my MP3 player, and just relax and listen to it through at a slow pace.
nice show.
btw, Braid is a must buy.
Hmmm, no link dump for Sports Illustrated? Whyforenot? :)
I kind of like VS Venom Shot's idea of multiple prizes. But again, I would still agree with you on not giving out prizes because of the basis of the show (interviews, keep it up!).
I would agree...I will listen to the show regardless of codes...must be frustrating to have people who don't give two shinys about the show, still nabbing free stuff...Maybe you should give codes for people who will put you up in the Bahamas :) (or even sunny England ;)
