Halo 3 #1 YEAAAHH!

Very interesting to see MW2 only make third place.

Congrats to Battlefield 1943 for being top XBLA game. Very well deserved.

My only issue with Battlefield 1943 is the lack of maps... Playing those 3 maps gets a wee-bit tedious sometimes! But it's still an awesome game. :)

Great list! Just a couple of nitpick items. In the Xbox 360 list did the American and Japanese versions of RE5/Biohazard5 need to be listed seperately? And did we need to have the demos for Halo Wars, UFC, and L4D2. That took away spots that reveal all sorts of interesting info.

For instance, Guitar Hero World Tour and GH3 beat out Rock Band 1&2, Beatles Rock Band, and even Guitar Hero 5? Crazy.

Can we get 20 top lists from now on :p

Too bad that there wasn't more love for Leave Home. I was a bit surprised that the indie game didn't make to the top 20.

People are strange...saying, in any way, that Halo 3 is "better" than Modern Warfare 2 because it is higher on this list is insane. MW2 was out for 51 DAYS in 2009 (launched 11/10) and ranked as the third most played game for the YEAR. Halo 3 was a good game when it launched, as most big-budget games are, and it remains popular (especially with the younger demographics, as parents are a little more forgiving on "cartoon" violence and killing aliens than the realistic stuff in the COD series), but I think if you extended it to the "fiscal" year, there would be a much different picture.

And I am a bit surprised as well...I do understand that a free demo will always be more popular than the $60 game, but I can't believe that Borderlands didn't make the list! But with 5 of the 20 being free, and three more being games that are around $20 (and have been for most of the year), I guess it makes some sense. Also a little shocked at the lack of RB titles, since to play the DLC and downloaded songs from track packs you are technically playing RB1 or RB2.

This should prove the point that BFBC:2 holds no chance to knock off the CoD series of games...

CoD4 and CoD5 are both top 5, MW2 is top 5 with only 51 days... meanwhile, BFBC is not on the list.  I really enjoyed BFBC, but I do not expect that the sequel will blow me away...

Anyways, good job Major.  It's always interesting to look at these statistics.  I'm assuming that they are MS only, and not for public consumption?  I'd be interested to see the actual numbers associated with the games, just to get a general feel for the vitality of XBL.

Congrats to both Halo 3 and FIFA 09 for making the list truly great games. Battlefield 1943 also made a good stand as the best selling arcade game

Sorry, but I cant believe that Halo is on the first place. I think there were a lot more people playing CoD4(now MW2) than Halo.

But its important for MS, to see their own nr.1 franchise at the top of the list.

It's awesome that a two year old game is still #1. Not surprising though. Halo sets the standard for FPSs. I always go back to Halo's flawlessly balanced multiplayer when I want kick some virtual ass. Halo 3 will return to its usual #1 weekly position until Reach is released because mature gamers prefer the best.

Good to see that Taito's attempt to rip people off with their bug-ridden XBLA crap didn't work.

A 2+ year old game beats a brand new game for highest unique users.
