     Unrelated, but is there a chance we’ll ever see some Xbox themes that are just nice pieces of art, photos, or maybe something like default Xbox themes, but without a game or brand logo plastered somewhere on it?

    Furthermore, where is the best place to tell Microsoft what we want to see on the Xbox, whether it be themes, exclusives, game genres, features, etc.?

      Disruptive Publisher made themes that were not game related nor brand related, but most of them were for the old dashboard type. Check them out, they are pretty good.

      RIght here. I need to mention this in a show, but a lot of the Xbox marketing team read this blog and use the comments to help guide them for content decisions. Many of the Deals Of The Week are as a direct result of what some have posted here.

        That’s good to know Major.  Just a thought but it might be nice to have a “Wish” section on your blog where you would list different topics that we could vote and comment on, sort of like how you ask questions for Free Code Fridays.  For example you could ask “What new feature would you like to see added to the dashboard?” or “Which of these options A,B,C,etc. do you like the best?” then allow us to comment and vote/promote on the stuff so that we (and more importantly the Xbox team) could see what is most wished for by the community while giving the community a sense that the most important things to the community as a whole are more likely to be seen and considered.  Call it Genie in a Bottle and let us get to wishin, jk on the name, you could call it whatever you want.

        Also, on the topic of themes, it’d be nice to have the ability to make our own premium themes and even better if we could sell them online, sort of like is done with the Indie Games.  Or at the very least give us a free premium theme that lets us use pictures stored on our console, could even include photos from Kinect games, though that might be embarrassing.  Might be cool if on the friends channel each friend can choose to have some of their photos show up on a screen behind their avatar on their friends console, maybe even allow video clips too.

        Anyway sorry for the long post, thanks for all the work you put into keeping us informed.

        Hey, thanks for the response!

        In that case, I’d like to see a Fable sale or Deal of The Week – covering the available DLC and avatar items. I know Understone was on sale a few months ago, but that’s only a small part of the Fable stuff on the marketplace.

        Or, to take it a step further, an RPG theme for sale/deal of the week. Arcade games like Deathspank and Torchlight, addons for Dragon Age, Fallout, Mass Effect and others. 

        I’d also like to see Contra: Hard Corps and associated DLC on sale or deal of the week. Maybe it could be part of a “what’s old is new” theme and include other games that are remakes or newly polished spins on old arcade games – stuff like Pac-Man CE, Rush’n Attack, Bionic Commando Rearmed, Lode Runner, Contra: Hard Corps, Turtles in Time Reshelled, etc.

         Haha the DotW theme could be games that Tyler wants and it could include The Maw, Eets, Puzzle Quest 1/2, the Toy Soldiers DLC, and then feel free to throw in pretty much any game that has come out in the last 3 months.

        LOL! More lies right there. Another lie – “The reason the FL cap is 100 is because of xbox original servers” Bull S**t And yet you fail to actually increase the cap which you bragged about doing last April.

        You just stay quiet hoping everyone will forget so you don’t have to spend money. You shut them down because you didn’t want to “waste money” Just like how you fill the dashboard with advertisements for gold paying customers. You monetize anything you can get your cheap hands on.

        You don’t care about consumers at all whatsoever. You just care about making as much money as possible. I’d love to be in a meeting with you guys and hear how much talk is about how much money you want to make as quickly as possible vs making consumers happy. 
        Next year we’ll hear that XBL will increase in price again because you’ve made a deal with rockstar and M$ will get timed DLC, days before PS3. Woah, definitely worth the price increase yeah. So you make this deal… and the consumers pay for it – by you increasing the price of XBL. Because that’s why it went up last year. Because of CoD timed DLC, you even said that… wow, ground breaking laziness.

     Brink is broken for me. Did anybody have a nice multiplayer experience post patch with this title? Because the MP matchmaking just doesn’t work for me. I can’t find even a remotely full game locally. Most players I’ve seen in vs is 4 (including myself). Shooting bots is getting old.

       It’s easy for me to find Versus matches for me, once you get in a good group stay there. The lag actually was bad post-patch but the past few days it has been just about perfect, maybe one in ten games I join has lag.

      If you don’t have people on your Friends list that have it, get some while playing. Half the people I join Fireteams with don’t talk, though. I know they are not bots, too, they just try to fool into believing they might be. 

      Great game btw, first game I bought in three years. This Fall is all about Rage and Battlefield 3. Count me psyched.

    Hey Major, how about some 360 exclusives? Where are the Non-Kinect hardcore games? The Gears 3 beta was awesome though

    Larry, any chance that Microsoft will be releasing Halo 3: ODST on Games on Demand?

    Halo: Combat Evolved, Halo 3, Halo Wars, and Halo: Reach are all available on Games on Demand.  In fact, I think Halo 3: ODST is the ONLY MGS published game that hasn’t been published on or doesn’t have a planned publish date for Games on Demand.

    Larry, can you explain in a future show why iTunes Plus (DRM-free) purchases will not play on Xbox 360?  I have the AAC codec on my system, so I’m not sure what the issue is.  These tracks play fine in WMC and Zune, but on the console, I get a circle with a line through it when I select a track (streaming content from my Windows 7 PC).

     Why would Microsoft do that? They can focus on the Kinect shovelware for the casual gamers  and leave the core gaming with the third party developers.
    Besides, the majority of Xbox 360 gamers don’t even care about exclusive games, E3 for them is…

    * Look, we have Kinect games* – Meh, don’t care…

    * And now we have hulu and Skype on the Xbox 360* – Uhm, it’s ok i guess…

    * More Kinect stuff…* – I’m bored…

    *Look, we have the EXCLUSIVE… are you ready… GAMEPLAY TRAILER FOR MODERN WARFARE 3* – WOOOOOOOOOOOWWWWWW, MICROSOFT IS AWESOMEEEEEEE…. OMG, OMG, IT LOOKS AMAZING, DAY 1 FOR ME!!!!

    *And that’s not all… Xbox 360 will be the first to get the map packs* – WOOOOOOOOOTTT?!?!? I WASN’T EXPECTING THAT! YESSSSSS!!!

    *For the big final… Halo Remake trailer – *Nerdgasm*

    They cant just stick with 3rd party forever. Microsoft needs to at least secure 3rd party games for awhile for it to make a difference. The gap between people buying on the 360 instead of PS3 is narrowing down. Microsoft needs to have exclusives. I will buy Mass Effect 3, Battlefield 3, Elder Scrolls 5, etc but their needs to be more exclusives than Gears of War 3 and Forza 4. Give Rare something more to do than just another Kinect Sports. I enjoyed Kinect Sports last year, but Rare is more talented than that.

       Wrong, they only need to keep markting the idea of “Call of Duty is
      better on the Xbox 360″, i doubt that in this point that MS will sell
      more consoles if they show new exclusive games.

      But in the other
      hand, if they show more Kinect games (and more appealing than the
      inicial shovelware) they will sell more Kinect, and that is the
      Microsoft strategy: Leave the core games for the 3rd party
      (multiplataform) and focus on selling Kinect.
      And there’s nothing we can do about it…

      Since i already invested too much in the X360, i’m not going to say the usual “F-U Micro$oft, i’m going to sell my xbox and buy a PS3″ but in the next generation, if in still interested in videogames, eh, i’m sure that i will show my middle to Microsoft and buy another system…

      Whenever anybody has something even remotely positive to say about Rare, I remind them of Perfect Dark Zero with a sort of defeated shrug.

      There’s not much of a game-making studio left in Rare. They did a good job with the avatars and the dashboard, but beyond that they’ve really only expressed interest in the Kinect.

      There are tons of other fantastic, still relevant game developers that Microsoft could potentially win over.
