      no need to ask that by now everyone should know it is because the free games.

      However it is also important to note that the free games are the only selling point of PSN+ and without it there would be no reason to pay for PSN+

      Xbox Live gold don’t need to offer free games because there already is a selling point to Xbox Live gold.

      I do prefer how Sony makes you pay for their service but I am always will be a Xbox gamer in the end

        there is no selling point to xbox gold though, people are paying to play online which PC, Ps3, wii and wii-u offers for free. if next gen they don’t have playing online for free they won’t survive.

          the selling point of Xbox Live Gold is being able to play with other people online….

    Farming Simulator 2013. Literally one of my favourite games of last year, and yes, it sounded as ridiculous to me as it does to you. I have put a STUPID amount of time into that game though.

    I do remember reading that a PS3 and Xbox 360 release is planned, but I don’t know how wide a release that’ll be, if it does happen.

    Fun tidbit: At some point, by some metric, it had sold more copies than Medal of Honor Warfighter.

      Growing up in farming country and being on a tractor by age 10. Not my idea of fun. That said driving farm equip in real life is fun. So I get it.

    I don’t want to start a confrontation here, but, what exactly is the problem with games that have you kill animals in a combat context?

    I’m not talking about hunting games, which are another issue entirely. I’m talking about something like, say, Call of Duty 4, which had attack dogs and such. It’s not as though you’re hunting these animals for pleasure or sport. They are a very clear, mortal threat, and you’re acting in defense.

    It’s not that I think that’s ok in the real world, but in a game, what makes it WORSE than shooting other humans?

      IT could because e got his dog from a rescue centre( if I remember correct) so he dislikes cruelty to all animals which is fair

        Absolutely! It’s not my intention to appear to be in favour of animal cruelty. I’m not in favour of human cruelty either.

        What I’m trying to figure out is the thinking that depicting one is more objectionable than depicting the other, particularly when the violence is occurring in a clear life-or-death context.

        I have incredible respect for e and his animals, and I understand his personal sensitivities here. I just think there’s a good discussion to be had on the subject as well.

          You nailed it with “personal sensitivities”. It really bothers *me* to play games where I have to kill animals, especially dogs.

          That doesn’t mean that I don’t think there should be games where that happens. I just might not play them because of it.

      I see your point. I do however have a hard time killing dogs in game. Just something inside me that does not want to kill a dog. I do think that e is going to far. Everyone goes into hush mode when he brings it up. On the other hand he got the game for his son. So he does not seem to be forcing his view. However rating a game on that basis is not fair. Games are supposed to be about what we do not do in the real world. Lets also talk how e tries to make lolli rethink her position on a game.

      there is no issue, there is no issue with doing ANYTHING in a video game because it’s a video game.

      Exactly. Shooters typically involve killing people – and I think games this year went a bit too far. Black Ops II had some killing animations that were simply uncalled for. It added nothing to the game. But no one is saying a word. Yet in Far Cry 3 there are many people up in arms about killing endangered species. Very hypocritical, methinks.

      People still don’t understand that a video game is just that, a game. They see some blood, an animal being treated bad, a woman being treated bad, an alien being treated bad, whatever the case may be and they go off as though it’s being done in real life. How about we go off on anyone who plays monopoly for evicting the others from the game when they can’t pay the rent! Or how about people who play Risk and kill everyone else in the world so they can dominate! lol

      I never liked him. Never liked his reviews. I think he was part of the fall of leo leport. So many other at tech tv could have made G4 the greatest thing ever. I am sad to see him here. How did major get snowed by this guy. So many others so much more qualified for this.

    How about a whole show on girl gamers and how far girl gaming has come. Bring in some of the biggest girl gamers out there and let lolli interview with you. I still think it has a way to go. Even lolli gets her view on fav games dissected way more than it should by her male counterparts.

    you can download the game and play it for free as long as you are a PSN+ subscriber so don’t pay for the games you pay for the PSN+ service. I don’t think I said anything about owning the game themselves and I’m aware of the limitations

    you don’t own anything on xbox either because you have to pay to play online which is an important part of many games, you can’t access half of most games for 360 without spending $60 a year.

    Curtis, you seem to spend a lot of time complaining about paying for XBox live. Is that your hobby? I thought you were in love with your PS3? Why don’t you go play it.
    It’s very tiresome reading your comments over and over and over about the same thing when you really make a lame point. The whole “you lose your game if you’re not on xbox live” debate is dumb. You can still play your game. Which is something that your “free” psn games won’t let you do once your sub runs out.
    So you can pay to be on the PSN and keep your games and play them online, or you can pay to be on XBox live and keep your games and play them online. Not much difference other than XBox has a superior matchmaking setup and superior connection when compared to PSN. So just.. hush.

    Any news on the upcoming deals of the week? I miss those post. The irony is, last 2 weeks they had games at 200 pts which is amazing and yet no post on them. Last year had horrible deals and those got posted

    I’m amazed at how we are not getting official info on upcoming deals of the week this year. Fortunatedly, others do microsoft’s job better.

    This week it seems to be Axel & pixel and Misadventures of P. Winterbottom down to 200 msp each (75% off) leedmees at 400 msp (50% off) and bioshock 2 DLC / borderlands 1 DLC at 50% off. + 50% off on Ghost recon FS DLC (those last ones being the only gold exclusive deals)

    Looks like microsoft is eager to piss off users again (at least not letting them know what to expect (but cr@p) from them.

      PSN+ already gave borderlands 1 free and DLC for like half off a few months ago :| and they just got megaman 8 and 9 ( or it’s 9 and 10 i forget) for free… Gold membership is such a cr@p deal in light of PSN+, the free Wii-u online, and how cheap games are on PC.

    I love listening to Adam Sessler. I always get the feeling that his brain is working about 5x faster than his mouth, which is why he talks so quickly and will sometimes stutter/trip over his words. Plus he’s incredibly intelligent. He’s the kind of person that would say “malevolence” when most others (including myself) would just say “evil”.

    Yes. Heaven forbid he express his OPINION on his favorite piece of interactive entertainment (read: GAME) from last year. Clearly anybody who doesn’t think that the latest “Call of Battle: Space Marine part 40: Shoot More Shit” is deserving of the lowest status of humanity and deserves to be put out of their misery for the benefit of themselves and the rest of mankind.

    In other words: Grow up.
