    Phils doing a great job

    Apps no longer need gold
Game for gold on xbox one
Actual sales on xbox one games

  • donnyskillz

yes larry and phil …great job keep up the good work

  • Roger B

Interesting. He mentioned that Bungie is picking up the June SDK to take advantage of the GPU reservation change and will be using it to increase the resolution of Destiny. I hope they were able to increase it all the way to parity with PS4 otherwise we’ll really hear it later…

    • Rocco-117

Screw resolution, boost framerate or better lock it.

    • Guest

Parity won’t happen, the hardware is different.

  • iwontell

Frankly, I am very happy with how XOne is evolving. The constant updates improving the whole experience, the games with gold now, the quality of the exclusive tittles (Titanfall and Forza 5 are perfection!)…I mean, it feels to me like we’re always moving forward, which is a great thing. I hope Phil keeps up the good work and focus on new games at E3, because that’s the only thing that’s still missing in this generation: more games for us to choose from and play (and that is also an issue with my PS4, specially now that they’ve postponed The Order and Drive Club :/ Seriously, don’t ever let XOne exclusives be delayed, cuz it’s such a disappointing feeling…).

  • Yards

Props to not just Phil but the XBOX TEAM for being awesome.

  • FatMarshall

Man, Phil is awesome. So glad he took control of Xbox. Every little thing he’s done has been great, and I’m so hyped for E3.

    • ImTheMetalLord

Yes he is and I can’t wait till the morning either.

  • deadbox102

After last year’s E3, the gamers I know really hated Don Mattrick and Phil Spencer. They were viewed as Satan and the Ani-Christ. Yes Don, you are and forever will be Satan. Don Mattrick will never be forgiven for the Buy-a-360-if-you-don’t-have-internet comment. Phil Spencer’s rep with the gamers I know has improved, but we all will be holding our breath in the morning. A big concern among us is the Family Plan. We want to be able to share our digital copies among our family of profiles on a set number of consoles. As many of us are heads of our families, this is a very large issue when it comes to going all digital. Anyway, given the effort Phil has put forth since he has taken over Xbox, we are looking for a great E3 this year. We are still bracing for disappointment though.

    • Jack Joyce

Are you high, no one hated Phil…He didn’t make a fool of himself. he was straight with everyone last year.

Don’t throw Phil in the same boat as Don…

Literally NO ONE viewed Phil as “The Anti Christ”. You’re retarded…Get out kid.

Incase you didn’t understand, Phil was the only one actually pushing and explaining the “Family Plan”. He made it look great, the rest sucked at their jobs.

Dear god I’ve never seen so much stupid in one comment.

      • deadbox102

Yeah, many people did view Phil that way. Simply because was pushing a bad system. Phil never made a comment like Don, but he was still pushing the design. I understood the family plan, but many people still needed a flow chart to keep up with it. Your average parent who doesn’t care about gaming, but is in charge of purchasing it, didn’t understand it. Phil may have been a victim of circumstance, but he was still a high-profile figure during the whole X1 debacle. He may not have been responsible for it, but he was still trying to sell it.

        • Jack Joyce

Like I said before, when you say “Many people” the only people who did that were trolls looking for something to poke fun at.

You do realize Phil was in charge of First party games, that’s all. Not funding, not core designs…Just First party studio management, and as you can see that they weren’t throwing enough funds towards first party.

He was the only one that was selling the X1 with DRM. The rest couldn’t sell it to save their live.s

          • deadbox102

It was not only trolls, I’m sorry to say. I know the position he held, but trying to sell any part of the plan for the X1 last year was like trying to pick up t3rd by the clean end. Regardless you were going to get the stink on you. The ones I spoke with were in kill-the-messenger mode and I’m sure they weren’t the only ones. What Phil has been doing since taking control is changing their (my friends) view of him, but E3 will be the deciding factor.

There is no such thing as an ‘average parent’ and how do you know they didn’t understand it

          • deadbox102

Average as in not a gamer. Many of the parents who have kids that played Xbox with my kids didn’t understand it. I’m sure the ones I spoke with weren’t the only ones.

          • https://twitter.com/Ganon255 Ganon255

If they’re not gamers, then they wouldn’t be watching E3 anyway. Kids let their parents know what they want. The average age of a gamer is in their 30’s, which is plenty old enough to have children.

          • deadbox102

I’m relying on first hand experience. I am in a very small minority of parents who play video games in my area. Out of all my kids friends parents only a few care anything about gaming. The others, because of the price of the systems, often come to us that do play to get info on the systems. I have always pointed them towards Xbox. :) However, many of them watched E3 last year because of their kids excitement over the new consoles. As soon as the parents heard the check-in requirement and the price they went def to everything else. Just because someone is in their 30’s doesn’t mean they will have children. Most of my gaming buddies are dating or single.

Phil Spencer defended the initial DRM policies.

Phil Spencer: “I felt like we could have talked about some of the parts of the program more completely, to put some of these people at ease,” he said. “I think people went to a place where they thought that [our] motivations maybe were wrong. That’s the part where I was probably most disappointed with us, that loss of trust with some of those consumers. I will take away from that a desire for us to make sure that we’re telling the complete story.”

“I look at last summer and that wasn’t a highpoint for me, coming out of the announcement of Xbox One and E3, where I thought our messaging around what we believed in was confused,”

PR translation = “Consumers just didn’t understand our glorious 24 hour DRM check-in future! We just got the messaging wrong!”

The “family plan” was never this magical “give 10 games to your friends/family for free with no limits” thing described.

$0N¥ paupers like schizophrenic multiaccount Derp, who’s the other “Guest” and should be banned are the only people that made him a black sheep. Phil Spencer is awesome.

    • Michal

      You are retarded.

  • DaeJim

Seriously, Phil Spencer has been doing a pretty damn good job! Congratz for the hard work!

  • skunkslayer

Your Zune link is kinda broke

  • Riekopo

Phil needs to do a /r/XboxOne AMA!

  • ilovegoogleglass

    I’m so hyped!

  • ilovegoogleglass

I think the new tools is the addition of Cloudgine….

  • Charles

Great interview! I think the whole team has the Xbox One headed in a great direction. They have been doing a lot of great things with the updates over the past few months, and I think there will be a great conference tomorrow.

  • Guest

I hope Destiny is at least close to 1080p. I’ve seen all five leaked parts (six if you count the other separate video) so right now that game is on my mind. Looking forward to it.

    • evilfangs .

I doubt Destiny will be 1080p on both X1 and PS4.

The new SDK isn’t going to help that much, maybe 10FPS more but thats it.

      • Guest

        A 10% GPU boost would mean ~30 FPS to ~33 FPS, or 921,600 pixels (1280x720p) to ~1,013,760 pixels (~1342x755p).

        Not exactly earth shattering.

  • Aussiesloth

Great interview good to see you acknowledged the other company its that attitube is one of the reasons i have stayed with the Xbox brand.

    • http://danielbogni.wordpress.com/ Daniel Bogni

      That is really amazing!

  • Please Clarify

I’m a little worried about what we will see today. Fortunately the latest Microsoft announcements have been great, so there certainly is hope that Phil Spencer is able to bring Xbox back as a serious contender.

  • Dave

Lot of faith placed in your phil. I hope you do good with it.

  • Michal

Phil is brilliant. I always liked Jack Trenton at Sony, but Phil is even better, he’s really trying to do his best at Xbox and I really appreciate this. Way to go Xbox Team, Game on!

  • Nikki Mond

I like the new direction Xbox has turned these past 3 months. It has greatly improved the product. Unfortunately these steps were not done earlier so some of the early adopters may feel a bit disappointed.

  • roozbeh, again

    Another year, another E3.

I should be so used to it by now, but I’m still super excited.

Pro tip for Phil: Don’t forget to turn off the mic at the end. A lot of people misheard you last year.

    Bring on the games.

  • jase

New gold sale on the x1. Forza 5 and crimson dragon on sale

  • jase

I’d like to see more pc style games like dayz and elite dangerous on my x1 rather than the same old sequels. Bored of halo, gears, borderlands and cod.

    • slasaru

Gosh, why don’t you just play PC then?

      • maxy

        Great answer.

      • jase

Cos i prefer my x1. i just want to see new experences on it instead of the usual games that roll out every year.and i do play on my pc but dont like sitting at it for long. u must be boring person to come out With a boring fanboy comment, and not want some great new games for the x1.

      • jase

Also seems a strange comment u urself want new new games instead of just cod. a very negative person.

Warning: Phil Spencer’s voice may cause deafness and hot flashes. Use only as directed.

    • roozbeh, again

I’m getting a seizure just reading about him.

  • CDMAss

Please no more dancing on the stage PLEASEEEE

    • roozbeh, again

But that’s the best of E3, people humiliating themselves in front of millions.

  • deadbox102

Is there a way I can watch E3 in my phone?
