E3 is a lot like a theme park ride – a long buildup of anticipation followed by a non-stop, exhilarating rush excitement. Then, before you know it, it’s all over; though there’s plenty to talk about for months to come.
As we look back on everything E3 2014 one last time, we thought we’d take it a step further, sharing an inside look on how the whole show comes together, from the press conference, fan events, and the experience of being on the show floor with hundreds of unreleased games. Take a look:
Our friends at Xbox Wire (follow them on Twitter!) spent the week of E3 checking out dozens of great games that will be coming to Xbox in 2014 and beyond. Here’s an exhaustive list of stories you’re going to want to catch up on:
Hey folks…we’re here in Los Angeles at E3 2014, and it has been a packed house all week long. We filled the Galen Center on Monday for our annual E3 show and rolled out an incredible line-up of blockbuster exclusives for this holiday and next year. And directly after our show, we held a great panel discussion with Phil, Yusuf and others – for 200 of our biggest Xbox fans. This was the first event of its kind for us… and we loved it. You can also read Phil’s thoughts on the past week at E3 here.
As we pack up our booth, we end E3 just as we started: Our focus is on you. You’ve shaped Xbox into what it is today, and we can’t thank you enough. We look forward to hearing more from you over the coming weeks – now, officially on Xbox Feedback – a dedicated channel for all your thoughts and recommendations. From what we’ve seen this week, your feedback continues to be amazing. As of today, more than 65,000 fans like you have suggested more than 4300 ideas and contributed over 180,000 votes.
We can’t wait to dig into your ideas and explore what may be possible for the future of Xbox. What better way to keep this momentum going than to share what’s coming in July? Here’s a shortlist of features rolling out in the next few days to folks getting early access to the Xbox One system update.
Snap Mode for Achievements. As we showed at our E3 Green Carpet event before the show, we’re offering an easier way to track and view your achievements in the moment. With Achievement Snap, you can track your achievement progress in real time without ever leaving the game. You can also ‘Get Help’ on any Achievements you’re struggling with. Xbox will scan the web for you and deliver relevant tips and strategy content right to your TV.
Double-tap to Snap. Double-tap the Xbox button on your controller to bring up Snap Center, where you can launch Achievements or any other snap-able app, without leaving your game. Already have an app snapped? Double-tap quickly switches between your game and the snapped app.
Choice of Spoken Language. Folks in New Zealand, Ireland and Austria, with this update in July, will be able to select voice control using the English or German voice models from other countries. And if you’re an expat in an English-speaking country, you, too, can choose any of the other English language models that fit you.
Future Digital Bundles and Compilation Discs. We’re doing some work now so that publishers will have options for great digital bundle and disc compilation offerings in the future. As we test this feature, we’ll be seeing more flexible combinations of game titles and game content.
‘Like’ Game DVR clips. We’re adding the ability to ‘Like’ all your favorite Game DVR clips as well as activity feed items in SmartGlass.
Once again, thank you for your incredible support. You’ve helped us make E3 2014 a memorable one. But we have no intention of letting our foot off the gas. We can’t wait to roll out these new features in July as we pave the way for an amazing line-up of blockbusters and exclusives this holiday.
Unless you managed to win your way in, E3 is closed to the general public. That’s why Insomniac Games is taking the Sunset Overdrive E3 show floor experience outside of the LA Convention Center for tonight only! Join us at the Century City Microsoft store to be among the first gamers to go hands on with this upcoming Xbox One exclusive’s newly revealed Chaos Squad. Attendees will also have the chance to meet the Insomniacs that make Sunset Overdrive as well as Xbox Live’s Major Nelson.
As with any Xbox event, we’ll be raffling off Xbox One consoles and other fun giveaways in the store, including cans of ice cold Overcharge Delirium XT! (Yes, seriously)
What: Sunset Overdrive Event at Century City Microsoft Store hosted by Major Nelson
When: Wednesday, June 11th – 6 to 9pm (this means TONIGHT)
Bonus: Pre-order Sunset Overdrive at the Microsoft Store Century City Event and get a limited edition poster you can get the Insomniac devs to sign! Plus, get a $10 Microsoft Store gift card, 2 exclusive melee weapons and secure your copy of the Day One Edition, which includes a bonus gun, outfit and the Hardcore Hammer.
Oh, and because we know the only thing worse than a town full of violent, Overcharge-powered mutants is LA traffic, we’re setting up a ride on the baddest bus ever to hit Santa Monica Boulevard.
The Sunset Overdrive bus will make a visit to the West Hollywood Gamestop location (7100 Santa Monica Blvd #115, West Hollywood, CA 90046) today from 4-5pm, then roll over to the Century City event (return drop-offs at 730pm and 9pm). It only seats 40 people, so you’ll want to be at Gamestop early enough to grab a spot.
Xbox fans are great at letting us know what they like about Xbox, and what they’d like us to do better. Whether on MajorNelson.com, NeoGAF, Reddit, Twitter, forums, or in person at events, we are always listening to what our fans have to say. Your passionate feedback has been a key factor in many of our decisions over the course of the last year.
That’s why today we’re rolling out a new fan feedback portal: Xbox Feedback. It’s a place where Xbox fans from around the world can submit their ideas for Xbox – any idea – and have people vote on it. Because everything will happen on one site, we’ll be able to get a better idea of which ideas are truly the most important to Xbox fans. The best part: the ideas, comments, and votes will be tallied up and presented to the Xbox design, engineering, and operations teams on a very regular basis.
The first day of E3 is always a big one for everyone here at Xbox, as it’s our chance to finally show off some of the great games we’ve got in our development pipeline. This year was no different, as our Xbox: Game On media briefing (watch it again here!) was chock full of great games coming in 2014 and beyond. Naturally, we thought you’d appreciate being able to check out all of our announcement in one place:
Crackdown Returns With Even More Mayhem on Xbox One – That’s right, Crackdown is back in a big way! Original creator Dave Jones has returned to bring a brand-new Crackdown experience to Xbox One and it looks like this one will be crazier than ever. Also, orbs!
Today is the day – in a few short hours, Xbox: Game On will show you why Xbox is the best place to play in 2014 and beyond. As E3 kicks off from the Galen Center in Los Angeles, we want you watch along with us – and to tell us what you think as it unfolds.
First things first – the Xbox E3 Media Briefing launches with our Green Carpet Pre-Show at 9am Pacific on Xbox.com and Xbox Live. Then stick around for Xbox: Game On at 9:30 AM Pacific (also viewable on Spike TV in the U.S. and Canada).
When the lights come up, the show rolls on. New this year, Xbox will broadcast a fan-centric “post-game show” exclusively on Twitch. The Xbox: E3 Briefing Post Show will feature Xbox leaders and developers answering questions from Twitter and the live studio audience. Submitting questions is easy – just Tweet at one of our panelists and include the #XboxE3 hashtag:
Last week, we detailed all of the ways that you can join us at E3. Today, we want to follow up with some more details about the Microsoft Store event this coming Sunday where we’ll be raffling off access to the Xbox E3 2014 Media Briefing.
By utilizing a raffle system, we’ve optimized the event to minimize waiting for fans – there’s no reason to spend your whole weekend camping out. Everyone who arrives by 11am will have an equal chance of gaining entry to Monday’s big event. Additionally, we’ll have a number of ID@Xbox titles for attendees to play at the Microsoft Store, including the innovative Fru and #IDARB’s 8-player madness. Of course, it wouldn’t be a fan event if we didn’t raffle off some other goodies as well. OK, here are all the relevant details:
What: Major Nelson’s Pre-E3 Event at Century City
Where: Microsoft retail store at Century City – 10250 Santa Monica Blvd, Los Angeles, CA 90067
When: Sunday, June 8th – Raffle starts at 11am, in-Store event from 1 to 3pm.
Xbox E3 Media Briefing ticket raffle details (read carefully!):

Camping is not allowed (or necessary!). Every person who enters the line beginning at 11am will receive one raffle ticket for a chance to win an Xbox E3 Media Briefing pass.
100 winners will be selected via raffle for a pass to the E3 Media Briefing:
We will have a raffle drawings every 15 minutes after the line opens at 11am until 12:45pm.
First raffle: 11:15am
Last raffle: 12:45pm

What happens if I do not win an E3 Media Briefing pass, may I still attend the event?
Customers who do not win the E3 briefing passes will be encouraged to come to the store for the event from 1-3pm with Major Nelson. We will have new and unreleased ID@Xbox titles to play, and other fun giveaways in the store for customers to participate in.
More details on the Facebook event page here. Any questions? Ask away in the comments.
With E3 less than two weeks away, the Xbox team is hard at work getting ready to show the world what we’ve got in store for the future. We can’t wait to share more with those of you watching from home or the office, but we also realize that some fans might want to do more than just watch. Although many E3 events are closed to the public, we know that a lot of our fans live in the greater Los Angeles area and would love to take part in celebrating all things Xbox. To that end, we’ve put together a number of great events taking place throughout the week of E3, both in LA and online. We hope to see you there!
Microsoft Store Pre-E3 Event (Sunday, June 8 from 1-3pm, line opens at 11am) Have you always wanted to attend the Xbox E3 Media Briefing? This is your chance! One hundred people who attend this event at the Century City Microsoft Store will be granted access (via raffle) to Monday’s Xbox E3 Media Briefing event and Xbox: E3 Briefing Post Show. While you’re at the Microsoft Store, go hands on with ID@Xbox titles as a sneak peek of what’s on the E3 show floor – before E3 even gets underway. We’ll share more specifics next week.

Xbox: E3 Briefing Post Show (Monday, June 9 at 11:15am PT) Tune over to Twitch.tv/xbox immediately following Xbox: Game On for a live, fan-centric “post-game show.” Xbox leaders and developers seen on the Media Briefing stage will talk more about what was just shown and will answer questions from Twitter and the live studio audience. Guests include Phil Spencer (Head of Xbox), Chris Charla (ID@Xbox), Yusuf Mehdi (Microsoft Devices & Studios), Ted Price (Insomniac Games), and Bonnie Ross (343 Industries). Details on how to submit questions for the Post Show will be revealed soon.

Attendees will also have the chance to meet the Insomniacs that make Sunset Overdrive and Xbox Live’s Major Nelson. Ice cold Overcharge Delirium XT awaits! (Yes, seriously)
ID@Xbox on Twitch (Tuesday through Thursday during E3 show hours) While the Xbox E3 booth is open, we’ll be broadcasting what you want – straight gameplay. Every day, we’ll focus on two different ID@Xbox titles, with many of the developers stopping by to chat with viewers. We’ll also be taking many other titles over to the Twitch E3 booth throughout the week, so keep an eye on the main Twitch channel as well. The full broadcast schedule will be revealed at the beginning of E3 week.
Xbox.com/E3 is also a great place to catch up on the latest news.
Another May is upon us, which can mean only one thing: E3 is just a few short weeks away. Today we’re confirming that Xbox: Game On, the Xbox E3 2014 Media Briefing, will take place Monday, June 9 beginning at 9:30 AM PDT.
During the briefing, you’ll be treated to everything from in-depth looks at previously announced games to trailers for our unannounced games coming in 2014 and beyond. You can stream Xbox: Game On live beginning on June 9 at 9:00 AM PDT with our pre-show coverage on Xbox.com, Xbox Live, and Windows Phone globally. You can also watch Xbox: Game On on Spike TV in the U.S. and Canada at 9:30 AM PDT.
We’re also planning a number of fan-centric events both before and after Xbox: Game On for those fans that are in LA and for those who are watching around the world. Stay tuned for more details on those activities as we get closer to E3!
To celebrate the Titanfall launch, Microsoft Stores want to send you to the next huge event in the industry: E3.
From today through March 16, all Microsoft retail stores will host an online and in-store contest where fans can enter for a chance to receive a trip to the most exciting event in the gaming industry, the Electronic Entertainment Expo in Los Angeles June 10-12, where I’ll show you some of the highlights.
A total of five winners will receive a VIP prize package including round trip airfare for them and a friend to LA, two nights’ hotel stay, a $3,000 Microsoft store gift card, admission to the Xbox press briefing where all the latest Xbox news is announced and new trailers are revealed.
Here’s the fine print: Rules and eligibility. Customers in the U.S., Canada and Puerto Rico can enter for their chance to win on MicrosoftStore.com, in-person at Microsoft retail store locations, or via mail. More information on the E3 Sweepstakes can be found here, including official rules and eligibility.
At E3 I had the chance to spend some time with Conan O’Brien and tell him about Xbox One when he dropped by the show to check out the new consoles and games at the show. Sadly, they cut most of our conversation out and focused on Games which is really what E3 is all about…right?
We’ve rounded up some familiar faces in the gaming industry to join me for our "Xbox @ E3" Live Coverage that will happen this week. Sign into Xbox LIVE on your console and join us Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday of this week for a live one-hour show each day from the show floor. During each hour we’ll take a closer look at some of the announcements, interviews with developers, game play and more.
Update: Today we announced “Killer Instinct” is coming to Xbox One. We will have it to play tonight at this meet up!
Also: The first 300 people there tonight will get a limited edition “Sunset Overdrive” t-shirt
If you are in the Southern California area, we’ve got a special Xbox Community meet up scheduled for Monday, June 10th at the Microsoft Store in Century City.
