With E3 less than two weeks away, the Xbox team is hard at work getting ready to show the world what we’ve got in store for the future. We can’t wait to share more with those of you watching from home or the office, but we also realize that some fans might want to do more than just watch. Although many E3 events are closed to the public, we know that a lot of our fans live in the greater Los Angeles area and would love to take part in celebrating all things Xbox. To that end, we’ve put together a number of great events taking place throughout the week of E3, both in LA and online. We hope to see you there!

We’ll also be taking many other titles over to the Twitch E3 booth throughout the week, so keep an eye on the main Twitch channel as well. The full broadcast schedule will be revealed at the beginning of E3 week.
Xbox.com/E3 is also a great place to catch up on the latest news.
Another May is upon us, which can mean only one thing: E3 is just a few short weeks away. Today we’re confirming that Xbox: Game On, the Xbox E3 2014 Media Briefing, will take place Monday, June 9 beginning at 9:30 AM PDT.
During the briefing, you’ll be treated to everything from in-depth looks at previously announced games to trailers for our unannounced games coming in 2014 and beyond. You can also watch Xbox: Game On on Spike TV in the U.S. and Canada at 9:30 AM PDT.

Three decades after it was rumored that thousands of unsold Atari 2600 games and accessories, highlighted by E.T. The Extra Terrestrial, were secretly dumped in a New Mexico landfill, the urban legend has been confirmed. Hundreds of fans and media attendees gathered in Alamogordo as a loader dug deep into the earth in search of evidence. After just a couple of hours and 30 feet of debris passed by, E.T. once again saw daylight.
For those of you who couldn’t make it out to New Mexico, Xbox Wire has full coverage of all the goings-on. Cameras were rolling for the filming a documentary on the event that will be airing soon, but I brought my own crew to bring you this inside look at a once-in-a-lifetime event. Enjoy:
As it turned out, folks around the world were following along with the dig via Twitter. Here are a few of our favorite moments as the first cartridges were brought to the surface in real time:
This weekend, you’re invited to join us in digging into the greatest mystery in videogame history: are there really millions of E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial Atari cartridges buried in the New Mexico desert?
While the dig (and resulting Xbox Entertainment Studios documentary) is the focal point of the weekend, it’s also a fine time to celebrate the last 30 years of gaming. To that end, we’d like for you to join us this coming Friday in Alamogordo, New Mexico for a retro fan meetup. The details:
What’s going on: Prep for the big dig by playing classic Atari games, courtesy of Gamers Anonymous. Enjoy complementary food and soft drinks, and we’ll be raffling off prizes, including Xbox One games and an Xbox One system.

Today at the Tokyo Game Show, Microsoft showcased a first look at “Crimson Dragon,” the flight-based shooter from the creator of the critically acclaimed “Panzer Dragoon” series, and unveiled new gameplay for “Dead Rising 3,” the next blockbuster installment of Capcom’s award-winning zombie action series, coming exclusively to Xbox One on Nov. 22.
“Crimson Dragon” Takes To New Heights in Tokyo

Created and directed by acclaimed developer Yukio Futatsugi (creator of “Panzer Dragoon”), the flight-based shooter features action-packed gameplay and a vibrant new user interface.
Launching exclusively for Xbox One for $19.99 (USD) on Nov. 22, “Crimson Dragon” enables you to harness a powerful dragon and take to the skies in this thrilling shooter where humanity has been driven to the brink of extinction on a planet ruled by dragons. Capcom Showcases Co-op Multiplayer and Super-combo Weapons for “Dead Rising 3”
Microsoft and Capcom Vancouver enticed fans with a first look at co-op multiplayer and Super-combo weapons, a brand-new addition to the celebrated franchise.
In “Dead Rising 3’s” online co-op mode, you can take on the zombie horde with a friend over Xbox Live, with the ability to hop in or out of each other’s game at any time. When playing in a friend’s game, you’ll not only help them advance, but also contribute to your story progression and earn experience points that carry back into your own game. Any mission you finish in a friend’s game will also register as “complete” in yours, so you’ll never have to go back and replay a co-op mission to advance your single-player story, unless you want to experience it again.
Co-op players will assume the role of Dick, a wise-cracking trucker who sees the main character Nick Ramos as his best chance at getting out of the overrun city of Los Perdidos, and plays a key role in the “Dead Rising 3” story.
In addition to showcasing co-op, Capcom revealed Super-combo Weapons – a new tier of Combo Weapons that requires at least three components (and oftentimes multiple steps and blueprints) to craft, and features unique abilities that let you decimate crowds of zombies with devastating effect. Examples include the Ultimate Powershout, a deadly concussive horn made of traffic cones; the Ultimate Grim Reaper, a flaming scythe made of a katana sword, a scythe, a gas canister and a mask; and the Massive Bomb, a mini-nuke that obliterates every zombie in your vicinity – along with your clothes.
Not only are Super-combo Weapons ultra-powerful, but they can also be customized into a wide range of different variants with unique abilities. For example, the fan-favorite “Freedom Bear” from “Dead Rising 2,” a life-size stuffed bear turret armed with twin machine guns, can be customized into eight different variants in “Dead Rising 3” with modifications like grenade launchers, a push cart and a boombox lure to confuse the zombies. With hundreds of Combo and Super-combo Weapons, “Dead Rising 3” takes customization to the next level in the ultimate zombie sandbox and gives you and your friends a virtually limitless number of ways to fight back against the undead horde.
