This morning we sent out an email to journalists with details about our TGS Announcements.
I thought you’d like to see the highlights first hand:
* * * *
We’re about to enter one of the most exciting holiday seasons for Xbox 360 and Kinect worldwide. And today we kick off the 2011 Tokyo Game Show (TGS) with updates to Forza Motorsport 4, Dance Central 2, Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary and Gears of War 3, among many other titles.
Core gamers who’ve been fans for years – and families who are new to the console – will find the most anticipated titles of the season for Xbox 360 and Kinect on hand and playable at TGS. The show is expected to attract entertainment enthusiasts from around the world, and provide the ultimate gaming experience in Japan this year.
- Some of Xbox’s biggest blockbuster titles including Forza Motorsport 4, Gears of War 3, Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary and two Xbox Live Arcade titles – Diabolical Pitch and Haunt – will be on display for the first time in Japan.• For Forza Motorsport 4, Turn 10 Studios will reveal that the game will include four legendary Japanese tracks – Motegi, Fujimi Kaido, Tsukuba and Suzuka – when it launches on Oct. 11 in North America, Oct. 14 in Europe and Oct. 20 in the rest of the world.
Seven new tracks for Dance Central 2 will be unveiled as a part of the 40+ songs that will be available on-disc:
- Mary J. Blige – Real Love
- Chingy – Right Thurr
- Missy Elliott – Get Ur Freak On
- Kevin Lyttle – Turn Me On
- New Boyz – You’re A Jerk
- Atlantic Connection and Armanni Reign – Reach
- Remy Ma – Conceited (There’s Something About Remy)
• Sports fans will be able to put on some downhill skis or step into the batter’s box as the bestselling franchise on Kinect – Kinect Sports: Season Two – will showcase Baseball, and debut Downhill Skiing and the new Challenge Play mode at TGS.
• Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary will add the classic Halo 2 map ‘Headlong’ to its growing cavalcade of multiplayer arenas. And 343 Industries will reveal new details for the upcoming Halo: Reach title update, including the launch of beta playlists on Oct. 4.
TGS is also about marking the Xbox commitment to Japan, which is home to some of the most legendary games creators in our industry. One of the most important aspects of the Xbox business in Japan is the relationship with our third party development houses, and the news from those creators is plentiful:
- In addition to the five titles from Japanese creators announced at last year’s Tokyo Games Show, Microsoft will announce that Happy Wars, a new title from Toylogic, will be coming to Xbox LIVE Arcade.
- A demo of Project Draco from Grounding will be shown for the first time to media in an exclusive setting.
- Diabolical Pitch (announced at TGS 2010 as codename D) from Grasshopper Manufacture, and Haunt from NanaOn-Sha, will be playable at Microsoft’s booth. Diabolical Pitch will be released on Xbox LIVE Arcade next year.

I wanted to share a cool opportunity to participate in an upcoming Xbox LIVE charity event on October 1, called “Gaming and Giving for Good” (G3) to benefit Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals. G3 encourages Xbox LIVE members to come together and raise money with the help of family and friends for every hour spent gaming online. Anyone interested in participating will need to register at Xbox.com/g3 and will receive a free Xbox LIVE Gold Membership for the weekend to play their favorite games.
Xbox has also partnered with GameStop to help drive participation across the country and host in-store events with celebrities to raise awareness for the effort. GameStop and 2K Games have already raised more than $70,000 USD for Children’s Miracle Network hospitals in advance of the online event, while Hulu, EA, Capcom Entertainment, Square Enix and other partners have also pledged their support.
This is a great excuse to get online and play with your friends, all while contributing to a worthy cause.
We hope to see you there.
Those interested in raising money, donating or learning more about G3 can visit www.xbox.com/g3 to register and find more information.

Earlier today at the open of the Tokyo Game Show in Japan we announced Five Exclusive Titles for Kinect for Xbox 360 coming in 2011. From the press release:
codename D (Grasshopper Manufacture, Microsoft Game Studios). From the famed markers of “killer7” and the “NO MORE HEROES” series comes “codename D” from SUDA 51 for Microsoft Game Studios. You must fight for your life to survive an evil amusement park filled with twisted and eerie creatures. With “codename D” for Kinect for Xbox 360, you are the controller as you unleash devastating effects to destroy enemies and objects.
Project Draco (Grounding, Microsoft Game Studios). The director of the cult hits “Phantom Dust” and “Panzer Dragoon,” game director Yukio Futatsugi, brings you an epic 3-D flying shooter. With the magic of Kinect for Xbox 360, you will be able to nurture and learn to communicate with your dragon as you develop its skills and train it as a partner in combat. Then join friends on Xbox LIVE to feel the rush of flight as you take to the skies together and experience breathtaking vistas and engage in thrilling battles.
Haunt (NanaOn-Sha, Microsoft Game Studios). Gather friends and family to delve deep into a haunted house dripping with mystery — you’ll need every ounce of your wit and cunning if you hope to unravel the veil of rumors that hide its darkest secret. Dodge traps and outwit ghosts, ghouls and frights that lurk with glee around each and every corner. Take a deep breath and immerse yourself in “Haunt,” spooky fun for Kinect for Xbox 360.
Steel Battalion Heavy Armor (Capcom, From Software). This all-new game revives the fan-favorite “Steel Battalion” series. With the support of Microsoft, Capcom and From Software join forces to bring this groundbreaking collaborative project to Xbox 360. Manhattan, 2082: In a world where computers and almost all modern technology have been lost, the greatest nations of the world continue to battle for supremacy. The American army lands in New York to begin its first big offensive of a long ground war. Soldiers fire from the trenches as scorched bunkers belch black smoke. As comrades continually fall to the unrelenting crossfire of bullets, the Vertical Tanks make their relentless advance. Experience the battlefield as never before with Kinect for Xbox 360.
Rise of Nightmares (SEGA). “Rise of Nightmares” offers a spine-tingling horror experience that uses the innovative new controls of Kinect for Xbox 360 to give players the ultimate fright. Using their whole body, players will experience fear and tension as never before in this exclusive Kinect horror adventure.
In addition, we discussed a few more titles including Metal Gear Solid: Rising.

As we head into PAX Prime this weekend in Seattle, I’d like to point out some things to add to your long TO DO list. We’ve got a whole team of people headed to to the event and we have so much stuff for you to see, we needed four booths show it all off:
Booth 412 (in the same area as the Xbox booth from last year) we’ll have Halo: Reach, Fable III and Gears of War 3.
Booth 670 We’ll be showing off new tiles for Xbox LIVE Arcade, Games for Windows and Windows Phone 7
Booth 682 Stop by and try out Kinect. We’ll have Kinect Adventures, Kinect Joyride, Kinect Sports and more
Booth 822 Halo: Reach
While you are planning what sessions to attend over the three-days, allow me to shamelessly plug one that has the potential be slightly entertaining: Join me, e, lollip0p and Stepto Sunday morning at 10:30am as we record the show live in front of a studio audience at the luxurious Benaroya Hall. I know it’s an early session, but we’ll try to make it worth your while; in addition to being able to observe the dysfunction for yourself, we have some cool prizes to give away including a few of the just announced controllers and one lucky attendee will walk away with the very first Xbox 360 Limited Edition Halo: Reach Console.
See you this weekend!
Edit: Let us know if you plan on joining us
