Thomas Was Alone is Now Available for Xbox One

Thomas Was AloneContent:Thomas Was Alone
Check price and availability in your Xbox LIVE region

Game Description: Thomas Was Alone is the critically acclaimed indie platformer about friendship and jumping. Guide a group of sentient rectangles through a series of environments, combining their skills to reach the end of each level. Listen to awesome music by David Housden, negotiate obstacles meticulously placed by Mike Bithell and immerse yourself in the characters’ journey with a voiceover read wistfully and amusingly by Danny Wallace. Discover the story of the world’s first sentient AIs, and how they worked together to, well… “escape” is a strong word. “Emerge” might be better. “Emerge” has an air of importance about it, while keeping a plethora of plot twists and origin stories under wraps. We didn’t even mention the bouncing. That’d be overkill.

Never Alone is Now Available for Xbox One

Never AloneContent: Never Alone
Check price and availability in your Xbox LIVE region

Game Description: Gather close and I will tell you an unipkaaq, a story that has been passed to me from generations past. I learned this tale from Nasruk many years ago. He told me that there is great wisdom in listening for those who are willing to hear. Remember, when you are part of the Iñupiat people, you are never alone. This is a story inspired by Kunuuksaayuka. The story of an endless blizzard that threatens the survival of our people. A story of a dangerous and cold journey at the top of the world. A story of bravery and true friendship. Come play my story. You are Girl and Fox, crossing dangerous lands, facing icy peril. Meet fantastic creatures and visit lost villages. Discover the mysteries and beauty of the helping spirits that are hidden in the world around us. Work together to overcome the challenges and obstacles that Nature will throw against you. Alone you cannot survive. But together you just might – if you can use each other’s strengths wisely and you refuse to surrender to the wind and snow and dangers that stalk the frozen North. Succeed and you will restore balance to the land. Fail and all will be lost. Never Alone is an atmospheric puzzle platformer for 1- or 2-players built in partnership with the Alaska Native community. It delves deeply into the traditional lore of the Iñupiat people of the Arctic to present a game experience like no other.

KickBeat Special Edition Now Available for Xbox One

Kickbeat Special EditionContent:Kickbeat Special Edition

Check price and availability in your Xbox LIVE region
Game Description:From indie pioneers Zen Studios (makers of Pinball FX2 and CastleStorm) comes KickBeat Special Edition, an innovative rhythm game with a Kung Fu theme, featuring fully 3D characters and high-energy music! The KickBeat Special Edition Soundtrack features tracks from a diverse lineup of artists from well known bands such as Pendulum and Marilyn Manson, to indie musicians Celldweller and Blue Stahli, to hidden talents like electronic music producer Voicians and Taiwanese rapper Shen Yi.

We got rid of the bars, arrows, button icons, etc. that other music games rely on as action cues and replaced them with fully 3D animated characters. Instead of just seeing characters in the background moving to a preset script as eye candy while the actual gameplay takes place in an abstract 2D interface, you actually control and react to those 3D characters. That means you actually get to focus your attention on what those characters are doing! As you play the game, you’re creating your own fight sequence with your button presses. We also let you get rid of all the other interface parts (such as score) if you like, so that there are no distractions from the action. KickBeat features a full length single player campaign with beautifully hand drawn animations and a unique art style.

Take a Look Inside our Pre-PAX ID@Xbox Open House

As Xbox is headquartered in the Seattle area, PAX Prime is a special event for us. This year, we were thrilled to invite the Xbox faithful over to our house to play some games. Hundreds of you took us up on the offer; take a look:

At the event, we showcased 29 new and upcoming ID@Xbox titles, including Volgarr the Viking, Lovers in a Dangerous Spacetime, and the just-released Warframe. Couch co-op and competitive multiplayer was on full display, with titles like #IDARB, Chariot, Knight Squad, and SlashDash drawing crowds (and lots of shouting).

So we’d like to offer a sincere thank you to those who made the trip out to Redmond, including those who braved a rush hour ride on the Sunset Overdrive bus. Your enthusiasm and sheer numbers are strong encouragement for us to go big next year as well.

And, of course, we’ll keep all of you updated on when these games hit the Xbox Games Store.

Pinball FX2 Xbox One Update

Earlier this month, Zen Studios announced that Pinball FX2 is coming to Xbox One. Here’s an update on the title from Zen, including news on a much-requested feature:

First of all, we’d like to thank the Zen Studios community for their feedback on our announcement of the Xbox One version of Pinball FX2. We cannot underestimate the importance of your support, insight, and yes, even criticism regarding our projects. Zen Studios has a few announcements to make affecting Pinball FX2 fans and particularly the Xbox One version of the game.

Microsoft and Zen Studios have taken your feedback to heart, and seeing that many of you were very upset with the news that table transfers between Xbox 360 and Xbox One would not be happening, we have some good news for you! We will be able to implement table transfers on Xbox One starting from Pinball FX2’s launch. Any available table on Xbox One that was previously purchased for Xbox 360 can be imported to the new version free of charge.

However, as this process will take a bit more development time for the game, Pinball FX2 version of Xbox One will see a slight delay from its original release date this week to next month. We apologize to any fans affected by this delay, but we pledge to make it up to you by incorporating this highly desired feature.

Once again, we cannot thank you enough for your support through this process, as well as Microsoft’s, who took your feedback very seriously and worked with us to implement this feature. And again, we do apologize for the delay while we create the Pinball FX2 experience that our fans both want and deserve. We’re excited to bring Pinball FX2 to Xbox One owners, to have their previous purchases honored and transferred, and we can’t wait to share with you what we’ve got coming in the future.

We thank you for your continued support!

For more on Pinball FX2 on Xbox One, including the list of tables, click on over to the Zen FAQ/Message Board.

ID@Xbox Week in Review

While Summer typically sees a lull in high-profile game releases, there’s been a torrent of new games to play on Xbox One. In addition to EA Sports UFC, a new Transformers title, and Valiant Hearts, the past 10 days have seen a half-dozen new titles come to Xbox One via the ID@Xbox program. Here’s a recap:

  • Sixty Second Shooter Prime – You have one minute – and one life – with which to deal as much destruction as possible. (more on Sixty Second Shooter Prime developer Happion Laboratories over on Xbox Wire)
  • Outlast –  In the remote mountains of Colorado, horrors wait inside Mount Massive Asylum.
  • Zombie Driver Ultimate Edition – Cars, speed, explosions, blood and zombies. A new and specially improved version, exclusively for the Xbox One .
  • R.B.I. Baseball 14 – Retro baseball gameplay updated with modern graphics, 2014 players and all 30 MLB teams.
  • Another World 20th Anniversary Edition – Another World (aka Out of This World) is back in its 20th Anniversary Edition with HD graphics faithful to the original design.
  • Contrast – Experience and explore a surreal 1920s dreamscape in a vaudevillian, film noir-inspired almost-reality.

Seeing as how today is #FreeCodeFriday, we’re celebrating by giving away these new releases to lucky readers. To enter, leave a comment below and tell me which new ID@Xbox game you are most interested in.
I’ll pull ten random winners next week to win a code to download one of the above titles. Good luck!

Update: All winners have been emailed codes to the email associated with their Disqus account. Check those inboxes/spam filters!

The rules: Deadline to enter is 11:59am PT on Sunday June 29th. 10 randomly selected winners will be notified by the e-mail address associated with your Disqus account. One entry per person. Contest is open to residents of current Xbox One territories only.
