ID@Xbox Week in Review

While Summer typically sees a lull in high-profile game releases, there’s been a torrent of new games to play on Xbox One. In addition to EA Sports UFC, a new Transformers title, and Valiant Hearts, the past 10 days have seen a half-dozen new titles come to Xbox One via the ID@Xbox program. Here’s a recap:

  • Sixty Second Shooter Prime – You have one minute – and one life – with which to deal as much destruction as possible. (more on Sixty Second Shooter Prime developer Happion Laboratories over on Xbox Wire)
  • Outlast -  In the remote mountains of Colorado, horrors wait inside Mount Massive Asylum.
  • Zombie Driver Ultimate Edition – Cars, speed, explosions, blood and zombies. A new and specially improved version, exclusively for the Xbox One .
  • R.B.I. Baseball 14 – Retro baseball gameplay updated with modern graphics, 2014 players and all 30 MLB teams.
  • Another World 20th Anniversary Edition – Another World (aka Out of This World) is back in its 20th Anniversary Edition with HD graphics faithful to the original design.
  • Contrast – Experience and explore a surreal 1920s dreamscape in a vaudevillian, film noir-inspired almost-reality.

Seeing as how today is #FreeCodeFriday, we’re celebrating by giving away these new releases to lucky MajorNelson.com readers. To enter, leave a comment below and tell me which new ID@Xbox game you are most interested in.
I’ll pull ten random winners next week to win a code to download one of the above titles. Good luck!

Update: All winners have been emailed codes to the email associated with their Disqus account. Check those inboxes/spam filters!

The rules: Deadline to enter is 11:59am PT on Sunday June 29th. 10 randomly selected winners will be notified by the e-mail address associated with your Disqus account. One entry per person. Contest is open to residents of current Xbox One territories only.

Note: If you do not have a current e-mail address associated with your Disqus login, you can update it here.

Major Nelson’s Pre-E3 Event at Century City: Know Before You Go

Last week, we detailed all of the ways that you can join us at E3. Today, we want to follow up with some more details about the Microsoft Store event this coming Sunday where we’ll be raffling off access to the Xbox E3 2014 Media Briefing.

Xbox E3

By utilizing a raffle system, we’ve optimized the event to minimize waiting for fans – there’s no reason to spend your whole weekend camping out. Everyone who arrives by 11am will have an equal chance of gaining entry to Monday’s big event. Additionally, we’ll have a number of ID@Xbox titles for attendees to play at the Microsoft Store, including the innovative Fru and #IDARB’s 8-player madness. Of course, it wouldn’t be a fan event if we didn’t raffle off some other goodies as well. OK, here are all the relevant details:

What: Major Nelson’s Pre-E3 Event at Century City

Where: Microsoft retail store at Century City – 10250 Santa Monica Blvd, Los Angeles, CA 90067

When: Sunday, June 8th – Raffle starts at 11am, in-Store event from 1 to 3pm.

Xbox E3 Media Briefing ticket raffle details (read carefully!):

The line for the Xbox E3 Media Briefing ticket raffle opens at 11am in the courtyard on the side of LensCrafters near the Microsoft store at Century City mall (there will be signs directing you from the Microsoft Store). Camping is not allowed (or necessary!). Every person who enters the line beginning at 11am will receive one raffle ticket for a chance to win an Xbox E3 Media Briefing pass.

100 winners will be selected via raffle for a pass to the E3 Media Briefing:

  • We will have a raffle drawings every 15 minutes after the line opens at 11am until 12:45pm.
  • First raffle: 11:15am
  • Last raffle: 12:45pm

IMPORTANT NOTE: You must be 18 to attend the press briefing. No exceptions – ID will be checked!

What happens if I do not win an E3 Media Briefing pass, may I still attend the event?

Customers who do not win the E3 briefing passes will be encouraged to come to the store for the event from 1-3pm with Major Nelson. We will have new and unreleased ID@Xbox titles to play, and other fun giveaways in the store for customers to participate in.

More details on the Facebook event page here. Any questions? Ask away in the comments.

We look forward to meeting you on Sunday!

Enter the squirrel! Defy the kitsune samurai who stole your clan’s sacred acorns. Sneak through beautifully hand-painted landscapes, avoid capture by the guards, and snatch victory (and acorns) from your enemies. The vigilant foxes track your silent steps by scent. Keep ahead of them or use your ninja arsenal to escape. Use smoke bombs, ninja speed, shadow clones, freeze bombs, and flame cloaks to defeat your enemies. Hone your skills with Ninja Missions or train for endurance in Survival mode. Baffle your foes across 15 maps, attain 25 ranks, and conquer 5 difficulty levels. Master the way of Nutjitsu!

We asked developer Ninjabee to tell us a bit more about Nutjitsu, including the fact that you can play it while, for instance, you’re waiting for a multiplayer game to place you in a match. From Producer Ben Bascom:

The early days of a console are always exciting. We are thrilled to be an early participant in Xbox One history. Thanks to the ID@Xbox team for helping to get Nutjitsu out there! Nutjitsu is undoubtedly a throwback to addictive, retro game designs updated with great new art and an awesome theme.

In terms of production, it proves that a great game can be developed on Xbox One in a short time frame. Technologically, we are the first to release an Xbox One game that can run like an app. This means you can watch a movie or play another game, then switch over to Nutjitsu for a few minutes without closing your other activity. On top of all that, a ninja squirrel stealing nuts is awesomeness that can’t be denied!
