At the #XboxE3 briefing we announced an exciting new pilot program called Xbox Game Preview – a feature that allows players the opportunity to download and evaluate a selection of games under active development. Every game in the program has a free trial, allowing the community to get involved and provide feedback during the development process.

The first two titles in the Xbox Game Preview program are now available in the Xbox store.

Elite Dangerous is the definitive massively multiplayer space epic, bringing gaming’s original open world adventure to the modern generation with a connected galaxy, evolving narrative and the entirety of the Milky Way re-created at its full galactic proportions. Starting with only a small starship and a few credits, players do whatever it takes to earn the skill, knowledge, wealth and power to survive in a futuristic cutthroat galaxy and to stand among the ranks of the iconic Elite.

Game Description: Game Preview Note: This game is a work in progress. It may or may not change over time and may not release as a final product. Please purchase only if you are comfortable with the current state of the unfinished game.

The Long Dark is a thoughtful, exploration-survival experience that challenges solo players to think for themselves as they explore an expansive frozen wilderness. Monitor your condition, search for life-saving supplies, and master survival skills like fire-building, maintaining your gear, hunting, fishing, and landmark-based navigation. There are no zombies — only you, the cold, and everything Mother Nature can throw at you.

More games will be added to the Xbox Game Preview and we look forward to seeing how the community feels about this new program.

Looking Toward E3 And Beyond

Coming off his big press conference announcing a partnership with Oculus, Xbox’s Phil Spencer shares his thoughts about the future of gaming and how he truly believes 2015 is our biggest year yet.

“This has been a great year for gaming at Microsoft, and it’s only going to get better in the coming weeks and months.  With the best games lineup in Xbox history coming to Xbox One this year, and Windows 10 being the best operating system for gaming we’ve ever released, this is going to be an exceptional year for gamers. No matter where or how you play, I truly believe 2015 will be our biggest year yet.

PreE32015PhilPost_HERO

E3 is just the beginning. Over the next few weeks and months, we’ll be sharing many more of our plans for 2015 and beyond. Having a jam-packed lineup of games to show at E3 means that there simply isn’t enough time to give each of our upcoming titles its well-deserved time in the spotlight. We’ve decided to save some of our most eagerly-awaited future titles for gamescom in August. Rest assured that titles like Crackdown, Quantum Break and Scalebound will be front and center at gamescom along with new game reveals for both Xbox One and Windows 10.”
