Fallout 4 Launch Interview With Pete Hines

Fallout 4 is set for its worldwide release on 10 November and is already receiving some great review scores. As many of you know, I am a huge fan of the series, so it was a real treat to travel to the Wasteland to interview Pete Hines, the VP of PR and Marketing at Bethesda Softworks, to talk about the launch of one of the year’s most anticipated titles.

For more details about Fallout 4 including pre-ordering information, check out this post. If you’re a Fallout fan and in the market for an Xbox One, you might be interested in the Xbox One Fallout 4 Bundle, also available on 10 November. Or maybe you want to try your luck at winning a free copy of the game and other cool prizes? You can do that to, with the Fallout 4 Pip-Boy Edition And Pip-Box (Custom Fallout 4 Inspired Xbox One) Giveaway. But you better act fast, that contest ends in a few hours.

The wait is almost over. Welcome to the Wasteland.

Ever since we announced Backward Compatibility was coming to Xbox One the number one question I get asked is, “What games are going to be available?” That question has finally been answered.

Today Mike Ybarra, Director of Program Management for Xbox, announced the first 104 titles coming to Xbox One Backward Compatibility when the feature launches as part of the New Xbox One Experience on 12 Nov.

At Xbox, we believe that gaming is universal and should be enjoyed by everyone, everywhere. Our philosophy since launching Xbox One two years ago has been to put gamers at the center of everything we do and create the best, most seamless gaming experience possible. We’re taking a major step forward in that journey on November 12 when we start rolling out the New Xbox One Experience with Xbox One Backward Compatibility.

Today, I’m happy to unveil to you the first 104 Xbox One Backward Compatibly games. Some of my favorites are included, like the complete Gears of War catalog, Assassin’s Creed II, Fallout 3, Borderlands, and Castle Crashers. The full list of the first 104 games is below and can be found at the Backward Compatibility page at And, as I said at gamescom, going forward, all Xbox 360 games available through Games With Gold after Nov. 12 will be playable on Xbox One.

Our launch of 104 titles on Nov. 12 is just the beginning. You can expect new Xbox One Backward Compatible games to be announced on a regular basis, starting in December. More titles are on the way, including fan favorites like Halo Reach, Halo Wars, Call of Duty: Black Ops, Bioshock, Bioshock 2, Bioshock Infinite and Skate 3. Stay tuned because this just the beginning of a long list of Xbox 360 games that will run on Xbox One.

Read the full announcement over at Xbox Wire. And for more information about Xbox One Backward Compatibility check out this video where FLitz from Smosh Games asks me questions about the feature, and this post where I discuss what you need to know in preparation for Backward Compatibility.

If you don’t see your favorite Xbox 360 title on the list and you want  to try and get it added, visit the Xbox Feedback website and vote on the existing nominations or submit your own.

I’m also providing a handy list of Xbox One Backward Compatibly titles for your reference:

This Week On Xbox – November 06, 2015

Here we go…the latest episode of This Week On Xbox.

Remember, you can watch the interactive version of This Week on Xbox from the “What’s On” tab of the Xbox dashboard in Canada, the UK and the US or at the Xbox YouTube channel (This Week on Xbox Playlist).

Leave a comment below or hit me up on Twitter and let me know what you think of the show.

The New Xbox One Experience launches on November 12 – and today, we have a couple of new sneak peeks at some of the updated features you’ll be getting your hands on when the update goes live: introducing Xbox One Avatars and the new-and-improved OneGuide!

Bringing Avatars to Xbox One should be music to any Xbox 360 fan’s ears – and Avatars on Xbox One come with the same visual fidelity improvements that gamers on Windows 10 have already gotten a taste of. That means improved anti-aliasing, lighting, shading, and an altogether more modern feel.

Of course, the core Avatar experience on your Xbox One is exactly what you’d expect. You can create an Avatar, change his or her look and clothing style, and browse all of the items you’ve already earned or purchased. If you choose, your new and awesome Avatar will show up in multiple locations across the New Xbox One Experience, including your Profile, your Activity Feed, the Compare Achievements section in Game Hubs, and more.

Xbox One is also getting a totally revamped OneGuide. With the rapidly expanding selection of video content from apps on Xbox, OneGuide makes it easier than ever to find something to watch, quickly. The new and improved OneGuide gets you to all of the content that you own and have access to watch via apps while providing access to featured and recommended content that you may not already know about.

The real star of the new OneGuide is app channels which enables you to see, at a glance, what’s new in your favorite video apps, like YouTube, Hulu, and FXNOW, without having to go in and open the apps themselves. In other words, you’ll spend less time finding something to watch and more time actually watching!

We’ve also made improvements to the live TV experience you already know in OneGuide. You can now enjoy a picture-in-picture of what you’re watching while you check TV listings or browse for something else to watch. If you watch live TV, you’ll also notice that TV listings now come up instantly and in full screen, letting you see what’s on more channels at once.

Coming soon, live TV listings from the Sling TV app including AMC, TNT, HBO, and more will be integrated into OneGuide, for Xbox One owners in the U.S. This will allow you to be able to see all your favorite channels including Sling TV channels side by side in OneGuide.

Check out the videos above for the full rundown on Avatars and OneGuide on Xbox One, with me and Partner Group Program Manager for Xbox One, Richard Irving. And stay tuned to Xbox Wire for more details on what you can expect when the New Xbox One Experience launches on 12 Nov.

Game Description: Call of Duty: Black Ops III combines three unique game modes: Campaign, Multiplayer and Zombies, providing fans with the deepest and most ambitious Call of Duty ever. The Campaign has been designed as a co-op game that can be played with up to 4 players online or as a solo cinematic thrill-ride. Multiplayer will be the franchise’s deepest, most rewarding and most engaging to date, with new ways to rank up, customize, and gear up for battle. And Zombies delivers an all-new mind-blowing experience with its own dedicated narrative. The title ushers in an unprecedented level of innovation, including jaw-dropping environments, never before experienced weaponry and abilities, and the introduction of a new, improved fluid movement system.

The New Xbox One Experience is almost here – and we’ve got an exciting video of the improved Xbox One Store to share with you! As you’ll see in the video clip above, I recently sat down with Partner Group Program Manager for Xbox One, Richard Irving to talk about a few of the changes and updates we’ve got in store for… well, the Store!

There’s a ton to discover in the New Xbox One Experience, and all of the games you already own will be ready and waiting for you. But when you’re ready for more, quickly find the games and content you want in the optimized Store. As you land on the Store from Home, you’ll notice it expands into four easy to explore areas – Games, Apps, Movies & TV, and Music. A new vertical gallery view inside the Store brings you more listings at a glance. You can browse through categories like Featured, New Releases, Most Played, Top Rated, Coming Soon, and Recommendations to help you find new things to play, interact with, watch, or listen to.

You’ll also notice that the Store has gotten a big quality-of-life upgrade: It’s much faster and easier to navigate, and requires fewer clicks to get to the stuff you care about. The new Store menu for each section is streamlined, allowing you to get to add-on content quickly, plus redeem any codes you may have.

On each game’s page within the Store, we’ve reorganized everything to focus on the information that our fans want when making their purchasing decisions. All of the content for all of the games in the Store is front-and-center, from add-on content to videos and bundle items. Browse some more and you’ll be able to see active Twitch broadcasts for a game, popular screenshots and videos that players have created, and – of course – access each title’s Game Hub, so that you can check out the latest updates on your favorite games directly from the game developers, and see which of your friends play the game. You can also compare Gamerscore, Achievements, and other game stats with your friends.

Like the rest of the New Xbox One Experience, the revamped Store is coming on Nov. 12. Check out the video above for the full rundown, and stay tuned – we’ve got a lot more to share with you between now and launch!
