Believe me, I followed the directions, and the occasional blip in connection still occurs.

On a positive note, the headset sounds great on my end, and the friends I play with were quick to praise it as well. I had the Plantronics 360 headset, and I'm sad to say that it was garbage - especially compared to this thing.

Guess I'll just deal with the minor connection blip problem.. for now.

I'm no PS3 fanboy (I've been pretty disappointed with Sony for the last year) but I read something pretty cool about the PS3 that I want to see on the 360:

Apparently, you can use ANY Bluetooth headset on the PS3 for your wireless headset. As I have a couple of excellent headsets I use for my Bluetooth phone, AND I've had a hard time hearing the voice on both the "stock" 360 headset and the Plantronics X30 headset, the idea of using one of my Bluetooth headsets is really attractive.

Any idea if this might happen, Major? Anyone? Even if a 3rd party (ahem - Logitech??) would make an adapter it would be pretty slick.

Anyone with this new 360 wireless headset have a comment to make on the volume relative to the original XBox headset, 360 headset and/or Plantronics X30? What about the Halo2 special edition headset?

While I'm at it, why doesn't somebody just make a 360 2.5mm adapter with a mute button so we could plug in the Last-Gen headsets but still have mute? The Halo2 special edition headset is excellent but without mute it's frustrating to use.

re: How to check your battery level on your wireless headset

And also of note is that the stutter is resolution dependent, where 1080i runs the Gears video at much below the frame rate of the video, and 720p struggles to decode and keep sync (stuttering when failing to keep 30fps).

Serious decoding problems despite their apparent fixes.

The headset constantly looses sync with the system and when it doesnt it will goto channel 2 and not even goto 1 manually to sync with controller. When i do get it to work it sounds great but it constantly disconnects. Definately software issues, several of these problems have been repeated on the xbox forums.

I could tell that my friend's voice sounded different. It sounded more like a person, and less like a tin-can with a string between them.

That said, picking up more vocal range sounds like it might open us up for additional interference or some kind of feedback. You get a little buzz where before you did not.

For about 10 minutes I was ready to take this thing back, and write an angry letter. I also thought "Plus that doesn't even sound like my friend." But you see, I'd never really heard this friend's actual voice before... and the reason it didn't sound right was that for the first time it really WAS right; or at least closer to right. The buzz either went away or I leaned to ignore it, but it was worth it to hear my buddy's actual voice. So yeah, I'm keeping the thing. Don't get me wrong, I'd love better performance for 60 bucks, but it's pretty sweet.

side note - I only got blips or beeps if I went to my fridge, upstairs.

re: How to check your battery level on your wireless headset

I had the same clipping/disconnect issue when I first used the headset since I only hit the connection button on the headset. Then I decided to follow the directions and hit the connection button on the 360 before hitting the one on the headset and all clipping has disapeared. I geuss they write those instructions for a reason. :P Also, the quality on my end is great and none of my friends noticed a change on their end. I have yet to test the range beyond 15ft so I am extremely satisfied with this product. For everyone complaining about the $60 price tag, it's worth it. If you want it cheaper, like $45, look around, many places like Costco carry it.

re: How to check your battery level on your wireless headset

Yeah, the headset definitely does not have the range of the controller. In addition, it has blips in its connection regardless of distance.
