Make them as long as you want Major. I listen in 30min chunks and it's great if they can last all week. Major got a few things mixed up in this one that were a bit humorous. When Caesar Filori mentioned he was working on Mass Effect from Bioware, Major replied that he had Ken Levine on last week and they had really advanced water effects. I think he mixed of the game Bioshock with the company Bioware. I think it was on this one too that he mentioned he was going to play Gears for Wars. Maybe he was thinking of the old Tears For Fears song in the Gears ad.

re: Show #201 The one about Marketplace

I fully agree with everyone's complaints about the DLC but I wanna remind people of something else that greatly upsets me about the EA and other companies nickle and diming us...of which I haven't bought anything from DLC with the exception of a couple of the early things for Oblivion (no, not the Horse Armor).

We're paying $50 for a year of online service, now add all that nickle and diming and we're shelling out tons of money. Add in the fact that most companies are charging $60 for a game and pulling this crap.

Internet thus far is free for the PS3 yet these companies will likely charge the same amount on those systems. I fully realize M$ needs to keep their servers running but then how does Sony do it with their free stuff? Ad Revenue.....but wait, isn't Microsoft getting that too? It just doesn't make sense to me how these companies are still getting away with this.

Not to be taking a shot at you directly MN but I just don't understand for the life of me how you yourself have noted without outright saying it that these companies are ripping us off with content you know is breaking the rules. Yet has the content been removed or the pricing changed? Of course not.

I realize that companies are out to make money in any way they can but what happened to companies actually looking out for us the gamer? What happened to all those companies who would give the loyal gamers their best effort to give us a fair product at a fair price? It pains me to see so many of our formerly favorite companies succumbing to such elementary greed and putting their wallets and those of the company before the gamers like they always used to.

re: Show #201 The one about Marketplace

BTW Major, volume levels in these podcasts can be horribly inconsistant at times, there's a good freeware volume equalization app out there the guys at TWIT recommended during the podcast expo, the name of which I've forgotten, but it might pay to take a look at it.

re: Show #201 The one about Marketplace

I was going to correct Major on the Blu-Ray speed statement, but someone has beaten me to it partially. DVDs and Blu-Rays have completely different data densities and a 1X speed indicates a completely different amount of data transferred per second. 1X with DVDs is 1.25MB/second whereas with Blu-Ray it's 4.5MB/second. So the Xbox at 12X is doing 15Meg/second versus the 9Meg/second of 2X Blu-Ray. If the Xbox was running at 8X then it'd still be a shade ahead of the PS3 drive but possibly a fair bit quieter. Of course, a higher quality drive would help a lot as well.

re: Show #201 The one about Marketplace

I don't own a 360, but I was planning on getting one for

I, for one, find their ideas distasteful.

Can you pleace do everything you can, so video marketplace comes to Europe (Denmark). It's really one of the most importent things to come the marketplace's lifetime. I know there are a lot of problems with the movie company's and all that, but i know alot of people in Europa who want this feature as fast as humanly possible.

Bye the way, i really think yout podcast is the best one of all. And i also love the new two hour + running time.

Also you talked about getting your podcat availibly on the marketplace, i would also love this great feature, so keep going forward with this. :)

Great show, like always.

I just had to point out and clearify one thing from the aftershow. You are right about the fact that the Xbox360-drive (DVD) and the PS3-drive (Blu-ray Disc) rotating at 12x and 2x respectively.

What I wanted to point out is that the "x" refers to the specified starting point in terms data rate of formats, which are different for DVD and BD. What's also worth pointing out is that the actual spin speed is different at 1x for each format. "1x" for the DVD-format (reading at the inner radius of the disc, where one requires highest rotation speed to achieve a certain data transferrate) is about 1600 RPM, whereas 1x BD (at the inner radius of the disc) is about 2000 RPM.

This means that the DVD-drive would rotatate with 12*1600. This is not the case, as there (normally) is a limiter for the RPM, which is normally set to slightly above 10000 RPM. This means that the Xbox-drive (when reading at max speed) spins the disc at something close to 10000 RPM while the PS3-drive spins the disc at about 4000 RPM. One of the reasons that the PS3-drive can't go higher in RPM's is current limitations in drive technology when it comes to the Blu-ray Disc-format.

Even so, the 12x DVD-drive still transfers about twice amount of data per second than the 2x BD-drive.

Chip Lang spouted his PR BS.
