This is very upsetting. :(

I am a UK XBOX Live user and I have another gamertag I use to get US content and to browse XBLVM.

If I go to that much trouble, I should be allowed to just get on with it :)

Seriously the UK (and other regions obviously) get shafted with everything like this.

Come on Major, surely something can be done about this???

if that were true, the 360 itself would not be region coded for games.

Ok, thanks. I guess the Swedish Xbox page about Microsoft Points is wrong then.

It is not correctly translated from the US version.

The Swedish page translates to:

"The only exception is the card with 2 100 points available in Europa and can be used wherever Xbox Live is available".

Well I live in the states and since the addition of video's to the marketplace I've been having this problem. I don't think it's only overseas consumers :-\.

The xbox 360 is created for games,and of course for gamers,not movie studios!!!

This sould be the primary objective for you all,and you have to do anything in the future,that never change.But now is going to change to the wrong way....Soo sad....

Darn, Since my country isn't in the Xbox Live list(israel), I chose USA because I had no choice and it worked all good for 5 months till now! can't buy any points :( (can't put my real billing information for obvious reasons...).

Are they going to make that people that thier country is not shown to be able to countine download things that are not region locked(Aka, Movies/demos/events and stuff) or we are going to be blocked forever?

Hi there,

I know this is one very tough month for the Xbox Team so I'm sure the entire team is working hard to iron out all the problems plaguing the XBL service.

Anyway I'm a XBL Gold member from Malaysia (the country between Singapore and Thailand) and we have quite a large community of 360 gamers here. In fact our forum is located here http://forum.lowyat.net/index.php?showforum=109 . As you can see from where I am from, there is no official XBL service here except if we use an address from Singapore or from the United States. My own XBL Gold account is based in Singapore and I currently do not have any secondary Silver account. Might get a US Silver for my brother his exams are over with his e-mail later.

The reason I am writing this is that I honestly believe this is all due to the XBL Video marketplace and the major studioes want to enforce thier region controls. I can relate this to the PSP where the UMD games are region free,but the UMD movies are not.

My suggestion is to remove the XBL Video marketplace service. Otherwise I fear my 360 will end up like the Zune MP3 player. The 360 is good enough being a game machine by itself and does not require any video marketplace. Sure the PS3 may have video marketplace, but that is a different system and it will definetely inherit the same problems or worse.

I to have some extra suggestion:-

1)XBL Gold members can download free gamerpicture and free themes on the condition they played the games the gamerpictures and themes are based.

2)No region restriction for game contents

3)Allow us to upgrade our hard disks like the PS3

4)Allow future games to install a portion into the hard disk for faster loading like the PS3.

I hope the Xbox team and Major will consider my suggestion.

Jack: The European 2100 prepaid point card definitely wont work with the your US account. I'm 100% sure. Only the US 1600 point prepaid card will work.

Can someone confirm if it is still possible for a European to add points to a US live account by buying a "XBOX 360 LIVE 2100 POINTS" card in Europe?

I was about to buy a card to check out the quality of a CSI episode. But I don't want to waste the money if it isn't possible to download.
