Check out the Xbox 360 section of the Orb site for all the info. This may be just the think if you don’t want to go the whole Media Center route. I have not tested this software

re: Stream Orb content to your Xbox 360

Just the think??

This works well with Mpeg, WMV and AVI. Does anyone know of something that would work with Quicktime Video? I don't want monkey around converting 4gb of quicktime files to avi or wmv. I had experimented last year with converting WMV and AVI to MP4 to organize in Itunes and play on my Ipod. (I don't want to even talk about the time it took to convert) . As an example It took me 13 hours to convert Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom to MP4 (320x240) from a 8X DVD ROM.I don't want to go through that to veiw those videos on my xbox360.

Orb is better in pretty much every aspect, namely:

1. Video thumbnail previews

2. 5.1 support (unless my ears are tricking me)

3. Auto refresh of updated content

My only problem is some videos tend to suffer from framerate (stutter) issues. Perhaps an update will fix this?

Recommended if you already dont have media center or anything else. Plus you can have your playlist and have it posted on your blog or myspace for others to access.

Bottom Line: If you just want to be able to play ALL of your media files (divX, Xvid, Mpeg, avi, etc) it works great but the quality (resolution) of the video is severly reduced.

Not worth the effort.

They want 360 to be capable of it, but perhaps they dont want to make it capable themselves for obvious reasons. Easier to let a third party do it, leaves them in the clear and it's less work for them. 360 owners win, regardless!

ORB can transcode divx, xvid and all the formats the 360 wont do by itself, so why isnt this labeled as kinda pirate software?

If microsoft wanted the 360 to play .avi files I guess they could do an easy update?

(and they would for sure sell more consoles just with this 5 cents update trick)
