BTW "Exploring Uranus" Achievement FTW!

The updates were done with a sense of respect to the original game and for purists the orignal graphics and sound are there, even though the original sound sounds somewhat off :/.

The gameplay is as fun as ever, but some of those achievements are going to be *tough*.

re: Arcade: GYRUSS

Ok. I bit the bullet & bought it to get access to the "original" sounds option. DE's version doesn't sound much like the original -- the music is seriously distorted, the bass is almost non-existent, and the sound effects are not the same.

I've spent *many* hours playing Gyruss in the arcades & in MAME, so I know what it's supposed to sound like.

I just fired up Gyruss in MAME for comparison, and there isn't one. DE's sound pales in comparison to the real thing.

DE may be good at adding additional layers (graphics skinning, multiplayer, achievements, etc.) on top of the original ROMs, but their emulation blows.

So, all-in-all it's still a waste of $5 for us "pissy purists" because the sound isn't properly emulated and it just feels wrong. I guess that's why the sound option is only available in the full version...

The only games I gained an "advantage" on were the Pac Man ones and Dig Dug, as it was too awkward to hold playing MK3 or faster games like Time Pilot. The spinner was complete cheap crap, and until Gyruss, there wasn't a game out there to use it on. If you can find one for $20, pick it up...at $60 it is not worth it.

I love the two arcade releases for the day, but we need more Burger Time in the arcade!
