Ah, OK. The title of the thread is "NEW GEARS MAPS COMING THIS THURSDAY" The box says "Leave A Comment."

It does not say "post a rant about ridiculous pricing of maps, etc."

I have left a comment. I have given an opinion on the other side of the argument. What is wrong with that? Why are you so against two opinions? Why are you so close minded? Is Microsoft hearing you? If you are boycotting Microsoft, then I hope you are

A) going to drop your Xbox Live Account and

join the PS3 or Wii crowd.

B) going to stop using Internet Explorer.

C) Going to be in the streets with signs that say "DOWN WITH MICROSOFT!"

Because, if you are boycotting the company, then that is what you have to do. And, my opinion DOES COUNT. Don't think they haven't been watching this banter going back and forth.

come on people,its time to get over the whole epic/M$ battle,it was supposed to be free,now its 800 points(about £7),big deal,i earn more than that in an hour,you could spend more on goin to watch a film which don't get to keep,but map packs on your hard drive will be there as long as you want them to be,why wait and miss out on what you know will be hours and hours of fun just to prove a point??

i'll be playin gears till the cows come home,or at least until HALO3!!

I want to hear what M$ has to say; not your ramblings. You think the pricing is fair - very good, I accept that, now give it a rest. The rest of us (and by that I mean the people posting on this page) have a problem. You don’t work for M$ so your opinion doesn't matter.

Our comments are posted here so that Major and his team can get some feedback from the community and that’s what I'm giving. I'm trying to make the market place and Xbox live better by giving constructive criticism. I don’t know what you’re trying to achieve, but good luck in whatever it is; I’ll just stick to giving feedback.

So Cliff says they were gonna be set at a very affordable price or someting, since they were supposed to be free. 800 for 4 maps is normal price, not very affordable like 400 let's say. This blows, R6 RPack is a bargain at 5 maps(2 redux but so *&^% what, they diff. enough and rock) and 2 new modes.O, but we got 1 new game mode and 2 maps fo free, cool, keep the consumer base happy and peachy keen w/ MS and Epic n make'm 400 then, they were supposed to be free M$ and Epic.

I for one am sick of people like you, who when someone does not take your side, you say something totally idiotic like "Why are you even posting in M$ defense? Who asked for your opinion?" Umm, this is a PLACE FOR OPINIONS!!! So, it is ok for you to give your OPINION (yes, that is what it is) that Microsoft is charging too much, but I cannot give my opinion that they are not. Wow, you certainly are a fair, open-minded type of person.

Have you actually been in the lobbies of the actual game, with the people actually playing the game? The people there are not whining, they are playing the game and awaiting tomorrow, with $10 in hand.

To try to sum up everyone's concerns in a coherent manner:

Epic, the developer, wanted the maps to be free. Microsoft, the publisher, wanted to charge for them.

The "Halo Compromise" was used. The maps would be released initially for a "reasonable price," and would become free in the near future.

The near future turned out to be 4 months. OK, users will either wait 4 months or, if they can't wait, they will pay in the amount of...

800 points? "4 new maps," "reasonable," and "800 points" do not go together in the same sentence. "One of these three is not like the others/one of these things/isn't right." I know, I saw it on Sesame Street.

I think it's safe to say that the community was expecting 400 points, which would be easy to justify the "Oh, I don't want to wait, and it's cheap enough to just buy it now and show some support for the developer."

And the point I don't really see being touched on: Gears was and is a huge selling title (both in regular and limited editions) in the US, Europe, and even Japan. Even Japan!

There is really no reason the content should not be free, due to the stellar sales. It's not like Gears didn't do as well as expected, and they're trying to make up for it here. It sounds more like "Look at all this money! Let's squeeze everyone for more!" It is a slap in the face to both the community and the immense success of the title, and truly reeks of basic greed.

If not to promote interest and goodwill, Microsoft should have made the maps free from Day 1 to simply say "Thank you. Thank you for buying our console and our game, and making it the success that it is."

$16.50AU to get 1000 MS points, so pretty much $13 or so for 4 maps, umm yeah I don't think so. Good luck though.
