Add me to the owners of a freshly bricked 360. Before the update, no problems at all; after the update, the red ring of death.

Do _not_ tell me it's overheating (it's sitting out in the open in front of a window with a breeze blowing across it). It just simply stopped working after the update.

The worst part, though, is that I don't see any real official acknowledgement of the issue. I work for Microsoft, and this is the sort of thing that makes me despair for our company.

Ok I skipped the update twice cause I read it was frying older machines those made in 2005. Well I went ahead and decided to do it and when it rebooted I got the 3 red lights on the ring! This is ridiculous, MS insists that I, I should pay for this bricking of my 360, because their softare update fried my machine. I didn't do anything , but install their update and all they will do is offer me a discount, thats bullshit. I hope Major Nelson you will pass this on, go to the xbox360 forums, dvdtalk video game forums, IGn etc. I'm not the only one this is happening to, but they want us to pay when it's your update whp done it nothing of my doing but doing your live update.

Beside the messenger feature, which I can't use, I just wanted to say how much I love the new marketplays, the achievment pop-up and the "downloading during the console is off"-function. So thank you very much for that.

ok...so i got the update...and i have an old msnlive acount linked to my xbox live acount...and i shut the acount down. now how do i change the msn sign in email.??? i cant figure it out.

The update installed fine but now my xbox freezes after a couple minutes of use. I never had any problems with it before the update :-( This makes me saaaaad.

The new achievement status is no good for me:

Im brazilian portuguese it shows:

"Achievement locked. 20G Win 10 matches"

Instead of Achievement UNLOCKED. What could it be?

This feature is horrible for a lot of XBOX 360 owners. Several reports (including myself) that there is no audio anymore on several videos. This also ruins the Media Center-functionality of the 360 as we get no audio anymore through our setups.

Please release an update so we can switch back to Dolby Digital 5.1 output.

I've had my 360 since November '05 and I've never had a problem with it. This update loaded fine, rebooted, and everything seemed ok. I even used messenger through my Xbox to talk to my girlfriend at work on her PC. I then powered down for a while, came back and turned it on only to see THREE RED LIGHTS!!! So now I have to pay $130 to get it fixed because the update you forced me to download bricked my Xbox. Just in time to miss the beginning of the Halo 3 beta. Thanks a million.

Well, the update causes a ring of death for mine too, so we're 4 now (I'm in France), it started again after a few tries.

My favorite new feature is the fact that it now automatically switches to 2-channel PCM if the video you're watching doesn't have a 5.1 Dolby Digital audio track. That's fantastic!

Major, need some info! I know there is new security to block save sharing and such. However, on games in which people make roster files, your new "security" is blocking those too! They don't give achievements or points or anything, so why are you blocking access to roster file transfers? This needs to be fixed ASAP, especially before NCAA 08!

I love this update does help Im 25 so can use IM

Best thing is my pc monitor can now disply through VGA in 1920x1080 which looks great. Also the screen reference option is a god send makes the picture look even better. Top marks here MS makes me very glad I got my 360 and not the Blu-ray player that can play games ;)

I've been messing with the MSN integration, and I have to say, it doesn't seem like it's going to be very useful until the thumb board comes out.

Accessing the functionality with a controller is no good (as it should be - text input is always horrible with a keyboard). Using a USB keyboard works, but unless you have one that is wireless, it's kind of like having a tether.

The thumb board is what's going to make this work, so when can we expect it? There hasn't been any news on when or how much since it was announced.

Perhaps you could get Albert of somebody to come on and discuss the thumb board on a future podcast?
