This is what the meant by monthly and loads of DLC... There, I ranted. Songs are okay though. If you don't wanna pay for that then....don't! haha

Wow, Mike, that's probably one of the most embarresangly stupid things I've ever read on the internet.

Did it ever cross YOUR mind that Activision and RedOctane should have worked out the bugs for HO and POs well before they released a PORT of a game to another system, and somewhere along the line developed better tools to create new songs?

It didn't, did it. No, it sure didn't.

If it bothers YOU so much that people are unhappy about the DLC pricing and are being vocal about it, here's a very simple and easy fix: DON'T READ IT! Wow!

If you feel that the DLC pricing is fair and you want to buy it, more power to you, dude. Me? I feel that if Activision and RedOctane want to rob me, they should at least do it with Balls ... take my wallet at gunpoint in the parking lot, don't be a puss and try and nickle and dime me with half assed, rehashed content and expect me to clap because you threw me a bone.

If most of those who were crying about price had it there way they would be paying 50 points per song and Microsoft would be losing money. Does anybody consider the cost of redeveloping the songs for proper use of hammer ons and pull offs? Or the addition of the coop mode to the old songs? This is aside from the licensing and other costs associated with updating the tracks.

If you work at McDonald's and can't afford the $1.50 difference in price you are complaining about then don't download the stuff! I'm sure Rock Band will cost even more, because there is more data to work out and if they plan to use master tracks there will be more royalties involved.

If you want to complain, call your mother and ask her to tell you everything will be ok and that big bad Microsoft is a meanie who charges to much. I almost hope they STOP releasing content just because then you would all complain that they aren't offering the content you want.

Thank you Major Nelson for following up on the matter as best you could.

It really is disappointing that Redoctane has refused the request (from the fan base) to even address the issue on your show.

I trust you will not extend an offer to Redoctane/Activision to discuss their upcoming GH 3 on your show as they seem to have little regard for the wishes of the fans.

Oh cool.

That leaves me with the following choice for the next game I can use my guitar with:

1.) Buy GH III (from Activision) and live with overpriced extra content.

2.) Buy Rock Band (from EA) and accept, that they will cut out some content that should be on the disc, just to charge extra for it later. (Like EA did before some times already)

Yes, the price *IS* outrageous.

Paying what would eventually amount to ~$100 extra for all of the GH1 tracks, just to plug them into the game like bonus songs, without any affect on the game or new achievements? It's a total rip-off that completely removes the "more downloadable songs!" selling point from the equation. I can guarantee you that "Buy the original Guitar Hero 1 songs to play for fun for an additional $100! (Additional guitar controller not included)" won't be appearing on any kiosks anytime soon.

As much as I'd like new songs, like almost everybody else I'm absolutely insulted by this price point, and will refrain from purchasing any of them on sheer principle.

Shame on the corporate stooges responsible for making this decision... AGAIN.

And for the record, for all of you yaysayers, nobody here is giving Major Nelson a hard time; there's a comments option for a reason, and most people - myself included - say what we say and with as much emphasis as we do because the exposure factor here is high. People feel like they're not being heard, so they're speaking up here, hoping that what they type might fall within eyeshot of the people responsible for making these absurd decisions. It didn't last time, but hey, why stop trying.

Bottom Line: We all want the bonus content we were promised when we bought the game, but we don't want it at a grossly inflated price. Vote with your wallets, folks.

Sad. I'll be returning my Guitar Hero II and the second Explorer today, I already pre-ordered a Rock Band Guitar, Drums, and Mic (paid for, yes!).

No more Activision software for me, I don't care if it's the greatest game ever released in the history of gaming. I won't support a company that craps all over it's customers (like Sony...)

Im skeptical on EA/Harmonix being any better. Remember EA is about to steps away from having you download the football for 80 points to play Madden.

In theory, atleast what they purpose, is going to be good. DLC weekly, Entire albums (rumoured ro begin with an album by The Who). Metallica - "Enter Sandman" on the disk with back catalogue promised in dlc form. Thats a good start. Im intrested, i was going to get Rock Band based on its more Guitar Hero sence i dont need the drums or mic.

Im just concerned EA will do the same as Activision or worse. Ive never trusted EA but i can safely say activision is working its way onto my list

At least Activision finally came forward, but they failed miserably to justify how they are basically trying to charge $90-$100 to buy a $40 game... a game many of us own already. Furthermore, though 300,000 downloads is quite a few downloads and they are making a nice penny from it, the fact is only on average about 15 to 20% of GHII owners are buying these packs. Shouldn't Activision be trying to win over the remaining 80 to 85% of the customers who are sitting on the fence, some of which are now thinking of dropping GHIII in favor of Rock Band? Activision is about to find out how the capitalist system works when competition and alternatives become available to their product...

Major get someone from EA/Harmonix on to talk to you about Rock Band's dlc pricing and avaliabilty.

Even if they cant give a set in stone price on dlc atleast see if they believe/"will go on record as saying" that GH2 content is to expensive for 2 year old game tracks that are covers.

Id also like to here about how much dlc they got planned and how it will work. Song packs? Single Tracks? Entire Albums?

See if you can get someone who can speak about that Major. Seems like Rock Band has the potential to stomp GH3 just by appealing to the wallets of the dlc community and id like to know if they know that.

(apprently activision thinks that starving peeps and then offering over priced tracks makes for good pricing sence its bought. I ask again what was the point of owning gh2 on 360 without gh1 dlc?)
