Well that's kind of lame... I and many others (Kotaku even ran a news clip about it) thought you were going to have some major xbox news we'd all go crazy about due to your twitter about a mid-week show. Congrats to the new boss, and thanks for getting our hopes up :-/

Wow Microsoft. You just blew it by UNDERESTIMATING demand on your Console. The SONY PS3 has now OUTSOLD you in the US for the FIRST TIME EVER !? What a major MISSTEP !!?! Why give them any help at all ! My local Bestbuys (all 5 of them here in Sacramento Area) have not had ANY Xbox 360 PRO or ELITES since Christmas !? You want to know why you got beat in January !? Well, If I was getting frustrated trying to find my console of choice (an Xbox 360) and struck out at store after store after store but kept running into PS3's on every corner, why Heck ! I would just get the PS3 and it even comes with a Blu-ray drive ! After all, many 3rd party titles are made for both Next Gen systems and pretty much look and play just as well SO many probably figured, OH WELL !? Since I can't take home a Xbox 360 to play, I will just buy this shiny Sony PS3 sitting right here on the shelf instead !? :O

Major BLUNDER Microsoft ! Did you forget that STEADY wins the race. Why on earth would you GIVE AWAY January to SONY !?!? Now all the SONYFANBOYS will be cheering and why give them any momentum.

Welcome to the world of Xbox Don. I think it's great that you came on and talked a bit, I expected to hear from you sooner but I understand you are getting adjusted to your new position. Peter left some mighty big shoes to fill but I am sure you will do a good job.

I see a lot of complaints in this thread and I hope Don is reading these or someone is bringing this feedback to him because your brand has a couple issues that need fixing ASAP.

1. The nagging issues expressed in this thread, HW reliability and DRM seem to be the big ones. Those complaining about Burnout on the "tard" version of the 360 not so much. The people who bought that system knew what they were buying and I don't think it's fair to the overall progress of the 360 to be held back by a system lacking an HDD. The Core/Arcade was a mistake to not include and HDD but if someone wants to play Paradise bad enough they can upgrade to an HDD. One thing MS can do is drop the price of that 20gig so people can have the HDD advantages. I think developers should be given the option to require and HDD and I don't want my games "gimped" (ie Mass Effect) because they can't use the HDD to stream textures, etc. Just think how many more Marketplace purchases there could be if all Arcade SKU owners could add a 20 gig for a cheap price.

2. As you can read by many disappointing fans, people were hoping for a huge announcement from MS. This seems to point to the fact that MS needs to "drop some bombs" and get some hype working in it's favor. I think people are expecting(hoping) that MS will announce some big exclusives. They expected much more from E3, TGS, etc but were disappointed when MS stated they wanted to focus on the holidays. Well the holiday's are over and it's time to deliver some big news for the costumers of your system for 08. There are many games like GTA, Too Human, etc that have been talked to death but the multiplatform games just don't have the hype factor too them as much as an exclusive would.

Too many question's right now and not enough answer's from the people in the know.

I will continue to sit in my bombshelter waiting for MS to "drop them", like a market leader should.

When will Xbox 360's be in the retail channel again? I bought one at Best Buy with an extended warranty b/c I knew I would have RRoD issues. It's happened, and now I can't trade it in b/c there's nothing to trade it for. WTF major?

Issue #1: The Xbox 360 is far from a quality pice of Microsoft hardware. The high failure rate is proof of this. (I appreciate the extended warrantee, but a reliable console would have been my preference.)

Issue #2: DRM. The problem is never addressed and as the Xbox Live community grows, so will the number of people demanding a solution.

Issue #3: GTA IV comment...

"Don Mattrick may have let slip something that he shouldn't have: that the online multiplayer portion of Grand Theft Auto IV will only be available on 360.

UPDATE: Rockstar has confirmed to CVG that "both versions of Grand Theft Auto IV will have an online multiplayer component", so it looks like Mattrick did get his words mixed up." - computer and video games (website)

Marketing speak alert!

Welcome, 6 months too late. I hope at some point you wade through all the complaints and read the feelings between the lines. That we don't care about how well you slice the numbers to make a decision most if not all of us already are invested in the 360. Most of the games coming out are on each console, your not going to get a huge BioShock or Halo franchise every year. So how about working a little to improve your brand's perception by fixing what people are complaining about and telling us what you are doing. Anyone swaping out of unit will have DRM issues. I have had it for over a year waiting for something from you guys to make it easier. I'm an adult with a full-time job and a family and I don't have the hours to invest on the phone with some dubious CS rep begging to activate my purchased content.

Yes, it would be very nice if Microsoft fixed the DRM to allow user-moveable licenses. Apple does it...so there's no reason Microsoft can't.
