I thought of a great advertising PR idea using GHII, GHIII or Rock Band. Get a musical artist to release their single as a downloadable track before it is given to the radio DJ's for airplay or released for sale in the shops. Id would be great if it was released on all three formats at the same time and for free.

@ Real Xebec, Very strong points. Im going through the license restoration process. If it works it is a good fix to the DRM problem, not great, but ok. The only downside it takes forever to complete and I think (not for sure maybe Major can confirm this) you have to tell the rep about every piece of content you downloaded that won't work.

From the way the rep was talking about it they change your console id number back to the orginal number??

It isn't that Microsoft can't fix DRM, its just they don't want to. Major claims there is no DRM problem as you can can just re-download DLC and it will be linked to your replacement XBox. He completely ignores the fact that, yes, that will work, but ONLY if you have your XBox replaced by Microsoft. If you had to have your XBox replaced after 1 year via 3rd party warranty (BEFORE Microsoft decided to extend their warranty), then you're out of luck. Major will say that you're not out of luck, you just have to login to Live and you can access your DLC. Well that is fine, but what if you can't login to Live? Major will say that it doesn't affect that many people. Seriously, they don't care!

Want to know why this pack absolutely stinks? LIVE tracks. Seriously, LIVE tracks? Who thought this was a good idea?! If I was to pay $2 a song, I would want my songs to be studio tracks, not live tracks. Does Def Leppard suck that hard right now? If you asked me, and listened to that Rockline show, you might say "YES!" COVERS and LIVE tracks cost the same as a band's master track right now. This is for both GH and RB. That is just sad. There needs to be a pricing tier for these games. Covers the cheapest, LIVE tracks in between, and studio tracks running the most. AND THE BEST PART? When LIVE flakes out FOR NO GOOD REASON like it has done twice this week, the DLC goes away thanks to the magic of DRM if you are on a legacy machine! Ah, DRM. Microsoft can charge you for movies, themes, and gamerpics, and defend DLC pricing to the end of the time, but can they fix DRM? I guess not, because almost two years later from when the issue first reared its ugly head; and IT IS STILL HERE. And not just for me. There are plenty of DRM horror stories on the internet. Until that is fixed, ALL DLC is PASS. Because this pack includes LIVE tracks for the same price, COMPLETE TOTAL PASS. XBox 360 - Maybe Major can build a robot to fix the DRM. We can call it Nelson 3000.

I've purchased every GH game since 1 (1 and rocks the 80's for the PS2 natch), and I've got Rock Band.

Rock Band is the far superior product at this point.

And if GH was such a better franchise, then why did Activision announce later this week that GH4 will feature other instruments to go along with the guitar?

Why...that sounds like Rock Band to me ;)

@ Apollo CJD, I don't think anyone is hating on GH. Most people who are talking up Rock Band already own GH. Maybe if you had Rock Band you would be singing a different tune.

Wow, I was SO hyped to play this so I ran and downloaded it as soon as I saw this post. Let me just say for the first time ever that refunds *should* be allowed for downloadable content. I was so psyched to play Photograph but my god is the live version of this track god awful. I will never download anymore DLC for GH3. (GH3 goes to gather dust yet again) Note to everyone else, please skip this download. I can only hope that Rock Band does Def Leppard some justice and releases some master tracks.

Major, Live is screwed the way it was on Monday again. It tells me I'm signed in and how many friends are online, but still shows on the blades that I'm not signed in, and I can't find any games online.

I saw this and cried that it did not come out for Rockband, then I (over)paid for my three Lep tracks only to find out that the two older tracks were crappy live version recordings from 1993 (after the death of Steve Clark). Activision should be shot. They continue to run this franchise into the ground.

Major,

My XBL is still not working.

I can connect just fine but when i goto join matchmaking in COD4 it doesnt let me join and game and says i have to have a valid connection to play. Even though i can browse through the dashboard with ease and download shows.

Very disappointing price and track selection, Activision. Seriously, not cool...
