This happens all the time at various companies and normally I wouldn't care, but it is extremely hypocritical of Microsoft to badmouth a competitor about breaking promises knowing that they were going to break one of their own (the Spring Update). Even if they didn’t cancel the update, it would still be hypocritical considering their own problems with the 360. It was unprofessional, unnecessary, and arrogant.

It's a yellow link that says "Many of the world's leading..." blah blah.

You'll see a whole list of people who currently use the IPTV functionality provided by Microsoft.

Clearly XNA has more potential for full fledged games but since deployment requires a subscription, its possible the XNA plan will end up being more expensive in the long run. Does the deployment tool time out when your subscription ends. I wonder about what happens when the 360 reaches the end of its lifespan. Will deployment be made free at that point? Xbox support ended in a rough way for early adopters of XBOX Live Arcade. What's the plan for the next platform rollover?

You put David Weller on the show as somewhat of a farewell and you give him almost no tme to talk. To me it sounded as if he was fighting to get some air-time. Please stop having Trixie on the show. When you two are together all you do is rip on her. And the woman who thought that she disrepresents the Gamerchicks is right, she does comes across as being dim-witted. Also can you get some decent guests on the show? For the last year it's been the creators or the publicists for these mediocre games that Microsoft just happens to advertise for. Get someone like Ken Livine or Ted Price on the show. They are charismatic guys who make some great games. Bottom line: Your shows are just too boring compared to what 1UP, OXM, and IGN have to offer.

I just wondering can you fix the Connect to xbox live becasue sometimes I keep having to relogin 3 times during power up of my 360. Also can you fix a way to bypass connection test so it stop asking me to test. Thanks

HD DVD was spearheaded by Toshiba, no question there, but we’ll have to disagree if Toshiba would have fought on without Microsoft’s support. Sure a working physical player may have usefulness, but you’re playing with semantics. It’s obvious I was talking about HD DVD as a format since there are no more players being made, there are no new movies coming out after June, and the HD DVD group disbanded. I was wrong about the number though, it’s closer to 300,000 Xbox customers with this dead format.

Have you actually been to the U-verse site? Look at the receivers they use and you’ll see two Ciscos and a Motorola. If you type in “Xbox” into the search engine you’ll get zero hits, so it doesn’t look like they’re using Xboxes. Go to Xbox.com and look up IPTV or Microsoft.com/tv and see if you can find a partner that’s currently using the 360 as a receiver or DVR. I can’t. If I’m wrong about stating IPTV through the 360 isn’t widely available where IPTV is and it is one of the items they’re not delivering on, then I think you can understand why.

Anyway, debating these two points distracts from the main point. That being that someone in Aaron’s position who criticizes a competitor about not living up to promises while cancelling a highly anticipated update to their own product shows an amazing amount of ignorance and arrogance. It was bad enough the update was cancelled, but the way the story broke and how the Xbox team handled this was a complete insulting mess.

Greenberg tells us how bad Sony is when it comes to fullfill promises by breaking a advertised promis .... again. And he even had the guts to speak it out personally. Then they try to calm us down by telling us stories why this happened. I don´t care what you did at the backend, cause thats your duty. We all pay for that!

For the small chance big news are comming up on E3 and i´m not talking about a bigger fall/winter update, I woul be still pissed. You guys owe it to us giving news and information and not to some stupid media effective con (E3) where you celebrate yourselves.

I hope that you (Major) are under a muzzle cause I´m still thinking that this is not your style to act upon the community.

HD-DVD was a Toshiba baby from beginning to end.

The only thing MS had was their HDI tech, which anyone (even the BD Group) can license for content.

Also I'm afraid that it is you who is misinformed on when Toshiba was going to bow out or not.

Toshiba always planned to go ahead and try to win the market. They just lost plain and simple.

Also the player isn't dead. I can still get titles for it and use it as a secondary DVD drive to save wear and tear on the 360 for movies.

Also as I have stated Uverse uses the 360 as a set top box.

I've already given a link to their site before. If you can't find it then just accept my word.

Areas that actually use IPTV can use the 360 as a settop box.

You clearly don't know the origins of the format war between HD DVD and Blu-ray, as Microsoft was much more than a merely licensee and, arguably, if it wasn't for their involvement Toshiba would have bowed out in 2005 and the format war would have been averted in the first place. Either way, the point was they chose to back and promote HD DVD, it failed, leaving over 150,000 Xbox 360 customers with this dead technology.

They said IPTV through the 360 would "be available to consumers by holiday season 2007", that hasn't happened. It’s not Xbox’s biggest sin on my list, but it was to reinforce the point that Xbox has some promises they haven’t delivered on either. I know that IPTV has had a slow roll-out due to infrastructure costs, but even in the areas where you can get IPTV I haven't seen a provider offer the 360 as a playback device as they appear to be using other set-top devices. If I'm wrong, please post a link.
