I'm not sure how to look at this. If it's a start towards a workable solution, it's great, but if it's a band-aid to shut most of us up, that would be a terrible shame since your competitors are starting to overtake you as being the device in the center of home media.

You really needs to rethink how you do DRM. We have 2 XBox 360s, 2 Windows laptops, a Zune , and several other non Microsoft products that are used regularly in my household. We're certainly not going to buy any media content through Live when we can buy it from one of many other sources and make it available to all of our devices for the entire family not just one XBox. Now if Microsoft had an all encompassing marketplace where any media we bought would be available in the same way we might buy from you.

Game add-ons as the only thing we buy from Live right now. Even then we can't make an impulse buy because we have to figure out which console to use. If we could authorize more than one console without having to buy everything more than once with different gamertags, that would go a long way. But even without that, just making gamertags play better with multiple consoles would be a huge step. I think it's absolutely ridiculous that your only solution is to store our profiles and saved games on memory cards and carry them from room to room even though all the consoles are on the network. And we each need to have our own card because some game saves can't be moved. And we have to copy some of the profiles onto the hard drive to play Rock Band because there are only room for 2 cards. And it gets a lot worse when we have to try to remember who can use what addons on a given console. In fact, if we had realized how much hassle it would be we probably wouldn't have bought a second one at all.

Seriously, spend some time thinking about how to change your DRM so that it isn't a big hassle for a family with more than one XBox. I'd find it very hard to believe that my situation isn't a fairly common one.

PS. Somewhat offtopic, but since I really only have one beef with the XBox that isn't related in some way to DRM I'll go ahead and mention it. How about support for a container that can include AC3 or AAC 5.1 audio with h264 video? Only allowing 2-channel AAC means that we're using one of your competitors to stream video to our home theater.

Some of the TV shows I got that were free when they came out (Jerico Pilot & the Heores - Genesis episode) I deleted and re-downloaded after using the DRM Tool and they still require me to sign in to live b4 I can view them!

But the tool works great on all the aracde titles - great job TEAM!

Will you have to do manual download for all or just the comtent that you want transfered to the system. IE - 704 on primary console, 70 on 2 other consoles needed on primary. Will I need to do all (774) or just the 70 that need to go onto primary console?

I think the once per 12 month rule is unfair. What if someone has a replacement 360 and that replacement dies within a few months? They are then unable to get their content back. They should not be penalised because of shoddy workmanship.

Hey, is there any chance that the license re-download process could be automated? I'd much rather press one button and get it all done than have to go through my entire download history and click on every single item.

I'm sure it's in the works, but it would be a very nice feature.

This has been asked several times but no one has an answer.

What about items that are not in the download history such as the Lumines Heavenly Star and Breeze packs and "Dream On" for Guitar Hero 3?

I know these were free downloads, but it's not very nice to lose them when changing consoles.

I wish they added a Download All assigned to the Y button or something so everything will be downloaded at once. That would be pretty nice.

Nice work on getting this out. My suggested improvements:

1 month cool down period - 3 strikes rule (you can do it once every month up to 3 times), once you've done it 3 times, then introduce 12 month period.

Make the list actually show the names of titles.

Include download all licenses option (been mentioned before). A lot of things still don't seem to work correctly.

For those having a go at people complaining. As long as people are being constructive in their complaints then I'm all for it. If we just sat here and said nothing the DRM tool wouldn't have been made in the first place. The great thing about Xbox is they do sometimes respond to feedback. Which means it can be improved and improved.

For a big update (if we get one), can we have a better organised Game section. Where there's a Arcade button (replacing played games, and it also doesn't show up trial arcade titles as now there's so many). The reason for this is it actually takes a bit too long to get to your arcade titles. And I doubt many people use the played game button that much. Also in played games maybe remove trial titles from the list as it's WAY overcrowded now.

Web browser. yeah yeah, 'use your pc', but this would be great. IE 360.

Built in hotmail support (and maybe facebook for those who use that).

Gamer blog support. Uses achievements, you can post short things onto it from your 360.

Achievement challenges. Challenge a friend to complete an achievement before you.

FREE section to marketplace. Lists all free items.

Better pricing on arcade titles. I know 800 is for new games, but come on the quality is just getting worse and worse. I used to look forward to Wednesdays so much to see what's come out. But now it's lost its direction.

Clan tag support.

Multiple private chat.

A new release section. Shows what games are coming out today and soon. (basically just a clearer section).

"Also, why is it you cannot play "any" .avi video unless connected to Live? It says you need an update to play it if not connected to Live, then you play it with Live but then you are not on Live and you cannot play it." Try deleting the optional media update and redownloading with an account that has never downloaded it. It's a problem with the DRM on the 'optional media playback' item, it treats that just like an arcade game. I'd imagine this tool should fix it as well.

Works fine for me. You sure you did 'download again' on it? And does the DRM tool show all of your video content on one console?

hey to everyone whining about this not being "quick and easy". transferring the licenses IS quick and easy on xbox.com. you sign in, start the process, sign into your xbox and then you're done - all licenses are transferred. yes re-downloading takes a lot of time (i had to re-DL hundreds of things), but the transfer process itself is quick. and easy.

good job again major and the xbox team.
