I don't understand people freaking out one way or another. You haven't used the interface, you haven't seen all there is to see in it - you can't form an opinion on something you have no experience with. Once the interface comes out, wait a month and then review it. As of now you don't know anything and you're just complaining to hear yourself speak. I'm interested in a new take on dash, and why not? It changed from Xbox to Xbox 360, and it'll change again. You think the dash was going to stick around forever? Things change, you'll either love it or get used to it - but in the end, it's just an interface. You'll spend the other 95% of your time in games, so who cares what the launch window looks like? As long as it works well, which I'm sure it will. Stop crying about your themes and gamerpics (which will still work, if you can read). I for one use the default theme, because it just looks the sharpest and I don't need a bunch of clutter on what is in essence just a browser for my games.

I'm excited for ripping discs, though I'll need a bigger HD so they'd better drop the price.

I like the 'single vision' strategy with the new Dashboard and going 'all out' with this new design. Congrats to the Marc Whitten and the team. It is very awesome. However, I think this Avatar versus Gamerpic issue will be/is very pivotal with a lot of folks. This really is getting into the 'freedom of expression' and unique identities gamers have developed for themselves over time. This follows the very useful descriptors that were identified early on with 'Undergroung', 'Professional', and 'Recreational' identifiers. If all we have to choose are the avatars, as presented so far, all we are left with are 'Recreational' appearances for gamer identities. Hopefully, there will be a 'right to choose' in regards to the avatars versus the gamer pics we've become accustomed to. At least until the avatars are more 'mature' in their customization. For example, if I could pick an avatar that is my soldier personalization in Rainbox Six 2, for instance, that would be awesome, and it could give me my association as a military FPS 'enthusiast' (as I've heard the language being used for 'hard core' gamers or whatever). These kind of avatars would better reflect and continue the tradition of the categories of 'Underground, etc. Thanks !

The one UI enhancement I really, really want to see wasn't mentioned - REMOVE THE ADS! Why should my personal console that I own be a billboard? In marketplace, fine, show me what's new, but please kill the ads on the other blades!
