lol the screenshot on xbox.com made me not even want to try the demo. can we please have a decent word game? wheres scrabble? when xna comes out of beta i think a scrabble clone will be made, already thought of a name, scribble. anyway once that happens good luck trying to sell us any more of this crap.

Absolutely TERRIBLE version of crosswords. Worst game design I've ever seen. A double sided spin wheel to enter letters? What were they thinking?! AWFUL.

No messenger kit keypad support. They need to enable the keypad to be used with this game, it would make text entry much, much easier.

This is unforgiveable that they didn't include support for the chatpad. Such idiots!!! I would call the person directly repsonsible an idiot to his/her face.

And just as others have pointed out, the text input it horrendous! Why are you being so stupid MS with stuff like this?

WTF is this crap? during E3? coulda made a killing with something like castle crashers or galaga legion or geo wars 2. but no. no bungie reveal, no good XBLA E3 release, nope just crappy too human demo and final fantasy, which doesn't even have a trailer on the marketplace. way to mess the bed MS. way to bring it home.

OK so let me preface this by saying that I LOVE crosswords. I am a huge crossword geek and I have even done them competitively (stop laughing!). When this was announced last year I was, believe it or not, looking forward to it. So despite the obvious flaw of being asked to pay 150 puzzles for $10, maybe 1/10 of which would be challenging, I decided to give the demo a try. Thankfully I didn't actually spend any money on this mess.

I am not exaggerating when I say that I have never seen a more poorly designed game. The text entry is truly terrible and not just because it doesn't support the chatpad. The letters are split between two "pages" that you have to flip back and forth between by holding RB and LB. It takes more than a second each time you want to do this. Then you have to use RB and LB to scroll the cursor through the list of letters - there's no way to directly select a letter by, say, pointing at it with the analog stick. It was painful trying to complete even a "super easy" puzzle in the time allotted - you're looking at 20+ seconds just to enter short words. Then if you're in the middle of completing an "across" clue and the letter that you enter happens to complete a "down" clue, the game decides that you're done entering text and hides the input altogether. And sometimes the text entry box comes up distorted or shrunk down so it's impossible to see what you're doing without closing and reopening the input.

So even if this game game with 5,000 puzzles it would be an exercise in frustration. MS should be embarassed that a game with such flaws was greenlit and passed certification. It's not like this is anything complex - it's just entering letters onto a grid!!

Anon 14: Yep, I tried. I set my dashboard settings from english to german and I do get translated menus. But the puzzles and hints are still completely in english. As I said, I don't really mind, since my english happens to be pretty solid, but not everyone hereabouts - ESPECIALLY not the target market of casual gamers - happens to speak university level english.

controls suck. why is there no chatpad support?
