@ Anon 271 - I agree completely! This new dashboard isn't an interface it's a freakin' STOREFRONT! Micro$ucks is just trying to get more money from the casual gamers at the expense of the hardcore gamers. Thanks alot Micro$ucks! IDIOTS!

I like the new design and don't care for the Miis ..er.. Avatars one way or another, but I'd like to get some more specific informations how Gamerpics will get integrated into the new design.

good point "Anon 264" Page 27 of 28 i have a small computer screen too hope they fix the update for all tv!!! and not just for 42 inch tv sets!!!! please remember those people with small screens please.

All this whining about themes and gamerpics! Have people gone mad? I turn my xbox on to PLAY GAMES on it, not to look at a nice picture of Master Chief. Don't like avatars? Then don't use them. EASY! If the new dashboard is more accessible then I'm all for it.

who cares about the avatars seriously, i can understand themes because people want a nice background, but i dont know one person on my friends list who gives a stuff about gamerpics or avatars, if gamerpics are free then sure but gamerpics arent a life and death issue that should be the sole fact on whether the upcoming patch is a success or a failure. if your main focus of the upcoming patch is about avatars and gamer pics then your kinda missing the bigger picture. avatars are nice and so are gamer pictures, but its not like your gonna spend months fine tuning your avatar so its a perfect representation of what you want to be or who you are, your gonna scroll thru it in minutes and then forget about it, your only gonna notice it in something like primetime which is a much more important feature of the upcoming patch. seriously guys chillax, MS will work out something and even if they dont, i dont think it warrants mass hysteria.

I really dont understand why they have changed the dashboard? what was wrong with it? the last useful update was the marketplace blade and that did work well however redesigning the whole dash is a bit excessive spech when it comes across as a merger of Itunes Cover Flow, Nintendo Mii avatars and the sortof scrolling selection found on PSP's and PS3's it looks like microsoft have decided to scrap their originality with their console interfaces just like they have with their windows interfaces copying from Mac's and Linux. I really do hope there is a way to avoid this update and a way to switch the avatars off, as someone said earlier in this post, when i look at my friends list, i want to see a list of my friends, not some stupid looking mii clones. Also why is the 360 aiming to be a family console all of a sudden, if the people who bought the 360 wanted a family console then clearly they think their family is best suited to gears of war and halo etc etc so why the hell convince them they want a bigger more expensive and less interactive wii? however i do like those backgrounds, shame that coverflow system gets in the way.

While i think the new dash looks ok (the viva pinata mock-up looks very nice), I also hope there is an option to completly disable seeing avatars as many others have stated, they just ruin the look of the new dash. When i check my friends list, thats exactly what i want to see, a list of my friends NOT mii rip-offs. Just make us all happy and give us the option to choose. I hope this new dash runs smoother than the current one to!

I think most have forgotten that famous reference to the avatars a couple of years ago. I believe the reference was the Wii60. Looks obvious now. I will be giving them a miss. I just hope the powers that be aren't setting this up to be readable only on a tv that takes up most of a wall and those of us using a small computer monitor will be able to read text designed to look good on a block that takes up less than a third of the screen. At 42 I am starting to have trouble with tiny print and wasting that much of the screen for aesthetics seems a little odd. Rember those people with small screens please.
