I side with those that would rather a cost reduction in HDD prices as oppose to the console itself. But it does make business sense to keep the HDD price high, so most people won't bother and will instead plump for a whole new console. We have several 360's in our household already ranging from the arcade through to the pro and even an elite. We found it more cost effective to plump for a whole new console than spend on a hard drive.

With the update coming sooner rather than later, and copying games to the hard drive now a reality, I'm probably going to need to get a larger hard drive at some point. However, I, like others here, find the pricing of the 120GB hard drive to be outrageous. Is Microsoft going to do anything about this? If I got a PS3, I could replace the hard drive cheaply and easily - I don't see why the same can't be true for the 360.

so its not going to happen in the uk ? according to reports, so we have to pay £80 more than the usa ? yer thats pretty fair.

cut the price in America, but as normal screw Europe, cos they'll cover the cost of the price cut.

Wal-mart is refusing to sell 360s at the cut price on sept 5th like xbox.com says the price drop is affective. When clicking where to buy on xbox.com it clearly states i can buy at wal-mart!!!!!!!!!!!! Wal-mart states that they will start selling on the 7th........

Whoever said the Elite comes with a play and charge kit is wrong. I just bought an Elite recently and it only came with regular AA batteries. It would have nice if it had come with one given the price.

The console is a steal, but additional items make up it. It´s smart offering a product for 199€(instead of 200€) and then you end up buying additional items (LIVE membership, MS points, a HDD, extra controller). Sure, everything is optional, not needed to run the first mentioned product for just 199€. Don´t forget the games ;)

PS: the 120GB model is still too expensive, your trap needs more cheese
