Wow, what a disappointment. I actually liked the first "next-gen" NBA Live quite a bit however was swayed by 2K last year. I'd say it was less of 2k being a fantastic game and more of Live being unplayable. That's right, I said it, NBA Live 08 was unplayable.

Live 09 is certainly an improvement but not nearly as solid as I was hoping for. Sure, the presentation has been improved and they are implementing some pretty innovative features but the CORE GAMEPLAY is horrendous. Animations are clunky and I feel like I don't have total control over my player.

2k9 better be damn good or I'll be going without a bball game this year.

So i played this demo the other night

It was GARBAGE, yea its ok if the players look more realistic & that DNA feature that people are making too much of a deal about but it all makes no difference if the game flow is wack

you cant compare this TRASH to 2K basketball

Just finished playing the NBA-LIVE Demo... twice.

First thing is first, this is the best I've ever felt after playing a NBA-LIVE game since the launch of the Xbox-360. Animations are much better - even though you can still see players literally running through the other players.

I felt like I had more control over my shots & the player in general. The load screen is fantastic & expands on the previous versions. The pulling of the left trigger to 'trigger' a replay gives me control on when a replay is done.

I think this is a solid Demo & is now on my 'wishlist' of games for this Holiday Season.

I've always thought the NBA-2K animations were far more superior to NBA-LIVE, Im downloading the Demo now so I will reserve comment until i have played it.

I have not downloaded the demo yet but I am very looking forward to it. This year I am going to buy my very first Next-Gen Basketball game, whether it be a NBA Live game or NBA 2K game. I have heard great reviews about the NBA 2K Series but I have always bought the NBA Live games when I played my PS2. But I am prepared to change. If the NBA Live 09 Demo turns out to be crap, and NBA 2K9 turns out good, I will have no problem at all switching sides. The Daily Update Feature on NBA Live 09 is very tempting, but it is not worth sacraficing crappy gameplay.

So I will play both demos, if NBA 2K9 comes out with one, and probably rent both games before picking one to actually buy. I am a huge basketball fan and I want the best basketball video game out there. I can' t wait to try them both.

Whoever Anon 22 is put everything just right Live deserves a chance - because even being a hardcore NBA2K fan I know for 60 more bucks all I'm getting is a updated roster with 2K9 - with funny Barbie doll hair players have- 2k still haven't changed the hair.

Whoever Anon 22 is put everything just right Live deserves a chance - because even being a hardcore NBA2K fan I know for 60 bucks all I'm getting is a updated roster with 2K9.

I actually liked the demo. This is the first time in some years I feel good about Live '09. I think the hype around 2K is borderline ridiculous, 2K8 was NOT that great of a game. There were so many animation issues and the controls felt clunky. I'm going with Live this year, I really like the daily updates and the presentation.

Pretty good presentation, awful gameplay! Back to the drawing board on the mechanics EA! And to think I've been hearing ppl say that this is the year that Live catches up with 2k...Epic fail! 2k8 feels better than Live 09. And 2k Games is upping the presentation for 2k9 so I gotta believe that the gameplay will still be rock solid. Can't wait for a demo for that. Go 2k Games!
