I purchased this game on my main console (big TV) and I tried to play it on my second console,(I downloaded the full version) as the big TV was being used. Normally I can do this as long as I am connected to Live, however the game appears to be working (shows all the achievements) but when I try to play the game, it says it is in trial mode. I downloaded the Full game and as long as I am connected to Live this should work????????

I was going to buy it but after playing the demo.... I don't know what it is about it but it's not as fun as it was when younger. I was pretty much bored of the demo after 15mins. (1match) I think I'm going to pass on it..... But I do still need to blow 1300mp before the end of the year.

Yes, I meant *without* a Gold subscription. I didn't get much use out of my Gold sub for the last six years, so I canceled it several months back. I wouldn't recommend PlayOn for Gold subscribers though, as that would be paying for some of the same functionality twice (unless you really want YouTube, ESPN, CBS, etc. in addition to Netflix).

PlayOn actually seems to work better on NXE than it did on the old dash. On a couple of occasions, I ran into buffer underruns, but pausing the stream for ~10 seconds caught it up for the remainder of the show. That's likely due to my slower DSL connection rather than a transcoding issue.

The Netflix players for PC and Mac will be updated to play HD streams after Microsoft's exclusivity period ends. There's no cost for Microsoft to stream Netflix content. Microsoft *may* have to stream some front-end stuff for the dash interface, but the content's coming directly from Netflix. It's another Gold "value add" like delayed demos and DLC content.

@Warrengonline, I don't believe that Apple TV supports the UPnP/DLNA spec, so it wouldn't work with PlayOn or any other UPnP/DLNA-compatible software such as TVersity and similar software on the Mac.

I downloaded this and it's good, but for some odd reason it does not feel the same So I pulled out my old N64 and played my old copy and it just seems more fun on the older system. Still going to get this because of the online multiplayer

Where's the proper successor to Interstate '76? Now that was an awesome game!

BTW: Interstate '82 doesn't count. It was arcadesy just like this the Vigilante 8 series. And it violated the number 1 rule: "Never get out of the car!"

Can't wait to give V8:A a try.

I believe you meant to say "works without". However I would not call it an artificial requirement. They need to cover the bill for this somewhere, and wrapping the cost into the normal gold subscription is a perfect idea because many of use are already paying for gold, so we are essentially getting an additional feature for "free".

PlayOn is by no means free as you mentioned yourself. So XBL gold would actually be the cheaper route for most of us. Not only that but the XBL streaming is superior to PlayOn's.

1. Early reports indicate the quality is extremely good. No PC connectivity or transcoding required, so you are guaranteed the best quality and experience

2. HD streaming! PC doesn't support this so therefore PlayOn does not either, plus even if they did have it there would be much more horsepower required to transcode that and certainly wouldn't be as good as the XBL streaming.

3. Fully compatible with XBL and will be fully compatible with XBL parties whenever it gets updated.

4. PlayOn is probably not compatible with NXE yet and it may take some time to update. You always have to be wary of system updates when using 3rd party software with the 360.

5. Just far less hassle in general. You don't need to leave your PC on all the time just to access Netflix streaming or you don't have to go turn it on when you need it.

Interesting... I'm not a Mac user (yet). But will that work with their set top 'tv' box (apple tv)? I have not put too much research into it as I was not interested in NetFlix until Xbox Live said that they are getting the instant watch (streaming). Xbox360 is the cheaper, more diverse route (something I can troubleshoot instead of having them call 1-800-4-MY-Xbox - not that anything is wrong with that).

Looking at Apple Tv's setup requirements; that's going to be a "No Go" for me.

The ONLY videos I watch on my computer are youtube.com, animwatch.com and random site clips (vimeo, etc), some Media Center DVR (but now that my Xbox360 is back up - Media Denter DVR is on TV) and my digital video camera recordings. Xbox360 keeps it simple for now. ("Yeay!") "Live's artificial Gold subscription"?

For what it's worth, you can stream Netflix (and YouTube, Hulu, ESPN, and CBS) *today* with the PlayOn Server beta (www.themediamall.com/playon) Content is streamed and transcoded by your computer. It's currently free & will be $30 when it goes live. (No, I don't work for MediaMall; I just like that their software works with Live's artificial Gold subscription requirement.)
