Sorry it sounds like you got a little ripped off, just a little. An event like that, you should kind of expect the unexpected. But skipping past that really negative stuff . . . The wait in line could have EASILY been passed with a Nintendo DS and like 2 or 3 games or a pocket video device and some earphones.

Major Nelson, I totally get why MS has you doing your job. I was at the Gears 2 Event at Universal as well. You worked the crowd great. I've always been put off by the heavy Gears 2 violence reputation, but you kept the event fun, which is what it should be. It's a game!

As for the Anon 81 post above, I hear you. Universal charged $10 to park! And yeah, when you hear, free giveaways, you know it's not gonna be enough. I didn't get anything. But I did enjoy the program (though Major, I don't know why a cameraman didn't swing around and show what was happening on one of the monitors up on stage. It was like listening to a radio broadcast of the Gears match between Cliff-voice actors vs. the random crowd people. Anyway, Major Nelson thanks for being there. Keep keeping it real!

Me and my girlfriend were there (had to drive for 3 hours but okay, and yes...she plays a lot of GoW/Fable/Oblivion), and in all honesty, we were severly disapointed about how the whole event was handled. First of all, anything that happened was for the first 100 people who paid off their game at the mentioned gamestop (and that was determined at something around 11AM, this was NEVER mentioned to us either). I spoke to a manager and she said "it was verbally explained to everyone who pre-ordered the game".

Yeah...right, we all know how that turns out. Why wasn't this printed on their special card they had? and of course it was not verbally explained to us either.

Aside from the first 100 people, the rest of us stood in a sepperate line, away from the crowd (where the event was happening), not only were we not able to participate in anything, we were not able to SEE anything that was happening either (apparently a random group was selected to play against the voice talents of GoW2); we couldnt see or hear because the line that was formed for everyone other than the first 100 had no view to the screen/speakers. And of course, the voice actors were only signing for the first 100. It should be mentioned, most of voice actors were cool enough to hang around quite a bit longer than that (DiMaggio was there signing till the very end, the only signature I was able to get), It was just...disappointing.

Me/my gf and a group of others also had a lot of issues with our purchase, and the lack of cooperation with one of the employees, but that had nothing to do with the event itself.

Yes, I understand the whole event was free, it was a bonus extra, etc, etc.

But on the flip side, many of us have jobs or school, we cannot afford to be at gamestop as soon as they open. Also, there's the cost of parking, gas, etc.

Also, the way it was explained to us, it seemed like EVERYONE was going to participate in the event, everyone would have the chance to get their game signed. 1) far from it. 2) At the very least LET US KNOW please.

I'm thankful for the wonderful game, the free cogtags, and Mr. Dimaggio's autograph but in all honesty, waiting in line for 4 hours doing absolutely nothing, and being confronted with the mentioned facts, and the resulted headache from the employees kinda made me not to ever want to go an event like this again.

/rant. i hope everyone else had a better experience than me and gf.

I was playing gears of war 2 today and my xbox overheated and my power supply blew :( do you think this is cause gears of war 2? the game took a while to render the effects when loading a stage every time my xbox would render the graphics it would turn the fans full blast well i'm hoping that this is only my powersupply that blew and not the console it self

On a side note, I read a news article that said that Microsoft is having to release the NXE with only about 50% of the features that they originally planned for it. That makes me wonder about exactly what all is getting cut from the initial release, and maybe (hopefully!) the remaining 50% of features will be added in future updates!
