glad to see GFWL is still being thought of, after that failure of Halo2PC(which was mostly because they were forcing us on vista even though there was no DX10 used), it felt like GFWL was treated like XBL's bastard son.

now for a Microsoft Live PC client, something completely integrating GFWL, XBL and Messenger would be nice.

The update is nice. I like it a lot. I really like how you can choose your audio input/output device for chat easily.

the new windows live ui looks great.

I wish it could be integrated into Windows Live Messenger though, like how the messenger is integrated in the 360 dashboards.

If Microsoft really want to make the GfWL service popular, they need to follow through on their promise to release a unified Live dashboard for Vista itself that sits in your tray. The service would be alot more popular if I could browse my achievements, games and keep in touch with friends from the desktop, rather than having to load a game first.

a stand alone client is supposedly coming out in a "few weeks".

check it out news.bigdownload.com/.../feature-microsoft-talks-about-games-for-windows-live-plans lots of good info there on the live update plus other stuff about the future of GFWL.

I tried this, on the welcome screen it said something about market place, I guess I didn't read it properly, is there no market place in this build but now means it's coming? Or is it only for certain games. Ta, new design is nice though better than before.

any news on live anywhere becoming more prevalent, particularly going on mobile phones? No info on this in a long time it seems and it was supposed to be done a while back.

Yeah I also think it would be awesome as an app built into Vista (or Windows 7). But I doubt it will ever happen because people will sue Microsoft just like they do for everything else (such as Windows Media Player, and Internet Explorer). But they should definitely make it a standalone app that can easily be downloaded and installed. Maybe something like this will ship with Windows 7?

I was wondering if GFW would be updated to match the NXE or what. Anyways, it looks great. The old format wasn't really designed for PC, so I'm glad you guys got it updated for us. Now if only more GFW games would come out....

It's is much more function now, still I believe it has a long way to go. I would like have a stand alone client with all the features the 360 version has and more games that LIVE enabled. It would be nice if I could play all my 360 title on pc under the games for windows platform. Either way, keep up the good work, but there is still more work to be done. I love games for windows and want to see it blossom into the beast that is the LIVE is for the 360.
