Well, now that NXE is here, I wanted to share some of the Premium Themes available for download. There are a ton of great ones up

re: New Premium Themes for NXE

Navigate to the MY XBOX section of the Dash, press 'A' on the second box (the one containing your Avatar) choose CHANGE THEME and the NIGHT theme should be 4th on the list.

Not good enough frankly. I bought many themes over the years and don't feel it's my right to compensation or a refund. However I strongly feel that unless the Dashboard is updated to display ALL themes as intended then it is utterly wrong for MS to charge anything for them and they should not be available at all on Marketplace at all, at any price.

re: New Premium Themes for NXE

Oh and the grey "floor" area at the bottom of the screen is far too intrusive and should be restricted to the bottom 25-33% of the screen max. to show more of the themes. Either that or allow us to turn it off or make it transparent or something. If we're paying 250 MP for these new themes, we obviously want to see the things!!!

re: New Premium Themes for NXE

Granted many of the new premium themes are very nice but what excuse is there for charging 250 MP for them? It just reeks of sheer greed if you ask me...

The old themes are now practically useless despite what Major Nelson says.. yeah they work, that's true, but they don't look particularly good with NXE so most of the themes I've bought over the past three years look horrible now.

In my opinion, Microsoft should be discounting the old themes from 150 MP to 50 MP with a warning on the Marketplace that they might not be display well with NXE and then charge the new premium themes at 150 MP instead. To still charge 150 MP for those themes when they were never designed for NXE is a disgrace really.

And why no preview for themes after three years? The new dashboard can display screenshots for games and as someone else suggested earlier it wouldn't take a huge amount of effort to use that feature for theme previews too. Are we to believe that no-one at Microsoft could think of that in three years when someone on here thought of it in minutes?!?!?

We bought themes for preveous dasboard and if you make us to update dashboard from old, you should fix this mistake. This grey bottom on half screen prevent me to use themes for what I paid money. Make it transperent or delete it!!! I understand that it's background for avatars but so sorry it looks awfull!!!! I missed for my old dashboard it was nice. Only HDD instalation it's one function that calm me!!! And do smth with gradient of image it's terrible... My eyes won't see it!!! Make black backround with white font it'll be great!!!

If this bottom is a backround for avatars, then it need to work in online, but enable function to turn off it or delete backround... Do smth!!!!!!!!!!!

re: New Premium Themes for NXE

Theme is NXE are efffectively broken. The grey blob takes up 60% of the screen and I can't see the themes that I paid money for (old and premium themes). Why not do the following:

-Make the grey blob transparent, it adds nothing to the experience, it is just a big grey blob. Heck, removing the blob altogether would be a great idea. Why are we giving up 60% of our screen to see the colour grey?

-Allow the theme screensaver like someone already posted. It would be a great idea if we could let the xbox 360 idle for a minute or two and it could cycle through the different pictures of our themes... I mean, we paid for them correct? This applies to both old and new themes. I purchased both Tomb Raider themes (old and premium) and on both of them, I can't see anything because of the huge grey blob in the middle of the screen.

-Allow, for example the 'select' button to minimize the icons on screen so that your can see the current theme image. There are usually 4 pictures for each theme, but I can't see them easily and I can only see at most 40% of the picture because the grey blob covers everything up.

It's sad that the NXE which added so many features and improved things for the 360 has this horrid wretched grey blob which takes up the majority of my screen. And users don't have a way to make it go away.

I like purchasing themes for my 360, I have over 30 themes. It adds a lot to my experience and it allows me to customize and express myself. But I can't see myself purchasing another theme until that horrid grey blob is gone.

I want my screen back.

Please and Thanks!

"I don't go to Gamestop and request a partial refund when the cost of a game I paid full price for drops. Same concept, different product."

Wrong concept entirely. The original themes that you dubbed 'OXE' don't display as intended on the NXE. When a game you paid full price for drops in price it doesn't affect the content of the game or the way it's displayed.

You do make some very good points however. And as mentioned above, paying $40 - $60 for a service and still having to endure advertising in the form of premium content, movies etc is unnaceptable from any angle.

On the old Dashboard we all knew where to find the Marketplace Blade and how to use it, even the smaller ads on the other Blades were slightly intrusive but NXE is pretty poor in it's implementation of user control and customization as it just seems like one huge advertisement.

Is this how MS are recouping their losses from Vista?

re: New Premium Themes for NXE

Glad to see I'm not the only person this bugs. The majority of existing themes just do not look good or fit in with the NXE but MS continue to sell them on Marketplace. What exactly was the point of the Beta if there's still so many obviously overlooked things that need improving?

I'm not too happy about being forced to use the Avatars. There's a reason I chose the XBOX 360 over the other consoles. I'm not 12 and MS are not Nintendo. I was happy with the old way and since we pay for Live! it'd be nice to have the choice; and why can't we set which section of the dash we'd like to jump to by pulling the L/R triggers; or that to reach the 'folk you've "Recently Played" tab' is just too many clicks away; or that you're unable to choose which genres of music/movies/games are pimped to you when you boot the console. It's not like it's free, that would be fair enough. MS have to fund the Live! infrastructure somehow, but I pay the equivalent of $60(US) for Live! so why should I fund MS to constantly bombard me with ads? I mean, who does my XBOX 360 belong to?

Sorry for veering violently off topic there, but still... What gives?

Firstly the poor integration of old themes has to be addressed, and without doubt the pricing is just to funny to laugh at, 250 points, and NO preview, come on.

Yes without doubt looking at the excellent way they can be made to look very nice, fable 2 being the price example, there clearly has to be a rethink on MS part here, both on pricing structure, and the overall themes in general.

For a long time now I have advocated the inclusion of a system were by we can import our own themes, I know we have been able to do pics as backgrounds, but actual full themes would be nice.

Needs looking at and soon.
