Long live the King. Halo 3 is the greatest multiplayer shooter of all time. Of course that's my opinion, but it's shared by millions of people.

I'm kind of tired of the whiny "Call of Duty fanbase is split!" BS. The majority of its players are playing World at War. Very few are playing strictly Modern Warfare. It's such a marginal amount that you can't really use it as an argument. They are either playing both, or just World at War. The total number isn't larger than Halo's fanbase. Modern Warfare 2 will surely be at the top of the list for a long while, but not forever. Likely it will keep it for about 4-6 months, and then Halo 3 will retake #1 until Halo: Reach comes out.

Speaking of which, I can't contain my excitement for Halo: Reach. I doubt anything will best it this console generation, considering that to me nothing has bested Halo 3.

Now purely off from my 2 cents on the unruly debate, I'm also psyched for Battlefield 1943. Too bad it will only earn a place on the arcade games list for purchased units. It would probably crack the lower half of the top ten most played.

The whole 'Wunce MW2 comes out itll be numbar wun FOREVAR nd evry1 wil furget Halo 3' thing... I seem to recall the same thing being said about CodWaW before is came out... huh. Weird how accurate that prediction was. If anything, once MW2 comes out, it'll drop the other CoD games lower than they already are on the rankings. CoDWaW comes out, and CoD4 drops lower than it was (it was #1) while neither remain at #1 for very long. MW2 drop out, and you suddenly expect everyone to stop playing both of the other recent CoD games for it? Yeah, sure, maybe for a little while, but once the initial novelty of it wears off, people will go back to their own personal favorites. Populations will redistribute, everything will go back to like it is now.

"But Mr Barrel Roll, that new Oh-Dee-Ess-Tee Halo game is sure to do the same thing to the Halo 3 population, so your logic can't be right!"

Possible, but unlikely. ODST is strictly campaign and co-op, with its plagiarized Horde Mode as the only online multiplayer. (a separate disc that includes all of Halo 3's multiplayer will be included, and I doubt that will be ranked as a separate game) In the same way the initial novelty for MW2 will wear of, so too will that of ODST. After a few months pass and the dust settles, I imagine that Halo 3 will return to the top, all 3 CoD games will continue fighting for 2nd through 5th, with Gears 2 will be stuck in somewhere as well.

Funny how the game that 'pisses on' Halo 3 and CoD games is nowhere to be found on the Top Ten list... I'd have thunk that a game as awesome as the one you're fanboying-out for would be rather high on the list, don't you? Weird, rite?

Once modern warefare 2 comes out it will be on the top forever, and halo 3 will never be on the top again alot with odst.

my 4th xbox refurbed replacement just RROD on me again...

I am so tired of the hardware failures i cannot begin to explain.

Call support, they are in middle of software upgrades, can't process claim.

Must wait for a return phone call in 24-48 hours.

Major, i thought this was all behind us now....

The "XBOX 360 Beta 09" seems to be the new avatar store system that will be released this fall. It will be part of the "NXE 2.0" and it is being tested by MS employees. Major Nelson and other testers have new clothing and accessories for their avatars. One of them has the radio controlled Warthog from Halo 3.

I am having marketplaces issues as well. Either I get an error code or content I've purchased before is not checked, so I have to buy again. The Xbox Live Operations Blog no longer seems to be responding to these issues.

I think some people have some flawed logic about the "big" titles coming out...ODST might supplant Halo 3 for a week or two, as it comes with all the Halo 3 maps (read ALL), and the mp experience will be a little different with fall damage and all that...and I am sure one of those two will be in the top spot for late Sept and most of Oct, but Nov 10th, it all goes to MW2. Here is why...First of all, the differences between MW and WaW have currently "split" the COD fans (even those who own both play one for a week/ month, then switch), but I don't see much switching from MW2, so it will have astronomical numbers. Factor in that there will also be ODST taking some of Halo 3's numbers, and then Halo 3 itself, with no more new maps, no new achvs, and about 6 weeks for all the "die hard" fans to wrap it up, and it's pretty easy to see how a LOT of people will be ready for the awesome NEW experience that is MW2. And mentioning Reach, REALLY? The Halo series has always launched in the FALL (except for Wars, which was a different dev team), and no release date has been hinted at outside of "2010", so don't expect that one for about a year after ODST/ MW2. I don't even think we will see the beta until March/ April 2010, so don't hold your breath for a halo title in the #1 spot after Nov 10th.

What's wrong with XBL? Ever since that 24 hour downtime, the merketplace (on both the console and xbox.com) is unreliable and I have to try like 20 times before I can download something. Come on Major Nelson, go tell the techs to get off their asses and get everything back to the way it was a month+ ago.
