Dear Larry,

I realize that you probably get a ton of emails, voicemails and the like from xbox users who read your blog and listen to your podcasts......great work btw......so I'll cut to the chase....

I'm very disappointed with Frogger from the XBOX360 live arcade.

Microsoft's quality control is severly lacking in my opinion - you've probably noticed all the negative comments in the forums about this game and most of it I think is completely justified.

- severe, unexpected lag
- poor collision detection
- bugs in achievements
- d-pad control response issues

and false advertising, in my opinion......

(from http://www.xbox.com/en-US/games/f/froggerlivearcadexbox360/default.htm)
Versus speed mode: Race a friend in split screen or Xbox Live action with this exciting new mode. Take as many frogs as you need to be the first to get five across the street for a new, intense competition.
Co-op play: With a friend in the room, or on the other side of the world via Xbox Live, put your competitive nature aside and work together to push your frogs to the limit.

I was looking forward to play this game split screen with my wife and daugther at home, but cannot.......Microsoft, of course, won't give me a refund, as the game was downloaded ok and is operational, but I feel ripped off.

I realise it's a cheap game and 80's port, but I don't think you, I or the gaming public should accept a game of this poor quality to grace such a fantastic console as the 360.

I was at least expecting a somewhat faithful port that worked and didn't expect the most powerful console in the world to struggle running a game that could work fine if programmed correctly on a 10-year-old 386 PC.

I'm a software developer with 20 years sof experience and a simple game of this nature should be able to be programmed to run well and with fewer bugs by one skilled developer with about one week for graphics and one week for coding and one week for testing (XBL testing excepted).

I've owned an XBOX since launch date and an XBOX360 also since launch and am very happy with both and all my software purchase - until this last one.

I'd welcome your personal comments (or Microsoft's official line) re. this game's release issues, either directly to this, or via your site/blog/podcast.

Thanks for taking the time to read this.

Mark.

You can stretch it out some, but it's more of a vertical title than a horizontal one (unlike Gauntlet, etc). Widescreen TVs aren't exactly made with vertical length in mind.

The enhanced graphics are kind of bland, but they certainly are more clean than the original. If you didn't realize that was the enhanced version, you must have never played the original lol. I kind of prefer the original graphics, honestly.

It's not bad. It's what I expected, although my main complaint is that I've not played a single online game with it that wasn't incredibly laggy. I thought it was me, but then I played other Arcade titles online and they ran flawlessly. My ping was fine both times...

There's also a bug in the game that causes you to move very erratically horizontally on some logs.<div style="clear:both;"></div><img src="http://majornelson.com/aggbug.aspx?PostID=80987" width="1" height="1">

re: Frogger

<p>I hope Pac-man will be better then this.. I thought I was playing the classic-version and was looking for the option to enable enhanced mode, when I found it I discovered I was already playing the enhanced game, LOL! And why is this game so small? It only fills a small part of the middle of my widescreen TV? Not really impressed..</p>

Really sad though to see all of the anger just because people had to way around an hour at midnight for something like this. The person who made a threat should be ashamed of himself. If you get that upset over something as small as that you are very very disturbed, please go check yourself into the nearest mental hospital.

Also people need to read the comments before posting, people are wasting everyone's time asking for things that have already been answered in the comments multiple times. There seems to be too many double posts too, makes me think people are double posting on purpose for effect. Either way hopefully you can get a filter for the double posting major. Thanks.

Keep up the good work Major, thanks for the info! :)<div style="clear:both;"></div><img src="http://majornelson.com/aggbug.aspx?PostID=80815" width="1" height="1">

re: Frogger

400 points?
