Hmm…. I’ll try it also. At first thought it was the Little Ninjas demo.

I played the demo off the Japanese Marketplace.

It’s quite silly, and really out there (e.g. you ride a motorcycle on falling buses to kill a monster boss), but it’s also fun to play – QTE’s nonwithstanding.

Certainly no Ninja Gaiden, but should still be a fun rental for a rainy weekend.

Ugh, what is it with QTE’s nowadays…who finds them appealing?

This game has generic bargain bin fodder written all over it. Hardly any depth, and all action takes places in one city at night. This whole demo is pretty much entire game. And lets take away ANY challenge by making you do damn QTE till you succeed, and to make things even more boring, the QTE button sequences will remain the same.

I counted 6 QTE during 10 minutes of gameplay. Hell, even boss fight has QTE’s.

ZeroPunctuation is going to have a field time with this game.

Tried the demo, didn’t quite like it.
I think that Ninja Gaiden has better combat and is a better action game. I’m not using any money on Ninja Blade. That’s for sure.

Definitely rating this post 5 stars; I’ll be buying the game thanks to this demo.

After reading the reviews of Afro Samurai, I would not even have played the demo. Luckily, I play games no matter the reviews. Afro Samurai will have you laughing out loud within seconds of playing it. I’m normally against profanity (when it is totally useless and used in a pointless way). Samuel is the man and THAT alone is a reason to play/buy the game. The game play does get a bit repetitive, but as long as Samuel keeps cracking lines, you will enjoy it.

As I laid down to go to bed last night, I decided to play this demo on Ninja Blade and from what I remember, “… ninja… flying… falling, quick time events… combo after combo… enemies.. keep on coming… garage door… giant worm… rewind… giant worm… A… A.. A, falling…” and poof, I was sleeping. I’ll play it again later.

QTE = Quick Time Event… ie a part og the game wehre you have to press a sequence of buttons in quick succession when promted.
Think Bourne Conspiricies and Tomb Raider and you will know what I mean.
And everyone here is right… there are so many QTE’s in this demo I just couldn’e be bothered to finish it.

Quick Time Events aren’t for everyone. I loved them on games like Sewer Shark, Wrath of the Ninja, Ground Zero and more. This game has some great graphics, but the QTEs are a bit annoying after a while. The rewind is really cool, but, I dunno, I liked the demo, though I’d take Afro Samurai over this as the humor is just too funny.

    @MADEIRA STEVE88
That’s ‘Ninja Gaiden Cousin’, not ripoff.:)

Don’t get me wrong, QTE’s have their place.
It’s just the frequency of them in this demo that annoys me.
In my opinion they should be kept to level starts/ends to tie in with the cinematics.
But having them every 2 mins and for finishing moves too is waaaay too excessive.

Heh heh… 3 Ninjas. I’ve been Peggled and Mawed. Ninja Blade is a bit late for me. I kind of liked the demo, but the QTE/interactive cutscenes can become an annoyance. It probably would be nice in the future if gamers play a game 100% you can see the ‘game’ in cutscene format like a movie for your hard work (and money). I’m not sure why not, but I think, just like RPGs, game directors should prep the stories and make sure they make sense, THEN add the cool ‘stuffs’. Not that that will always work, but give me a good reason to terminate the bad guy. And for dramatic effect, take something away from me as a player that I value mid game or at the end or the game (Aeris – FF7 – devasted me). Even Irene Lew was at first an annoying news reporter until Ryu had that line that he kind of crossed in Ninja Gaiden 1 and 2 (I can’t remember 3). Put some life back into action stories. Earning access to combos is a nice steady slow down instead of running through button smashing. And simple puzzle solving (crawl on wall, throw star, hit rope, cut rope, release lever, open door, run through – can be repetitive, stepping on stones in order are nice puzzles too). I’m not downing Ninja Blade (I’ve only played the demo), but Wrath of the Black Manta on NES (if I am not mistaken on the title) has some not too great graphics, but the skills of the ninja rival that of Shinobi and Revenge of Shinobi in my book. Ground Burrow, Stealth, etc.
