Major – your link is broken. (So is the link on the “Games” home page for the marketplace)
    .
If you navigate the tree Game Demos -> Racing Games you can find it, however.
    .
    Here’s the link I used:

Sweet. I’ve been hearing good things about this & I’m a big racing game fan so I really wanted to try this one out.

IMO, after playing Forza 3 demo, this game sucks. The sounds are bad, the handling is bad, the cockpit view is just anoying, graphics are lower than GRID. Save your bandwidth

    I agree.

But i knew that before playing the Forza 3 demo =D

Hello Major, how come you haven’t posted the Brutal Legend demo, which is now available for the UK (and presumably the rest of the world too), after the shambles of last weeks US only exclusive release?

For the past few years Need for Speed has taken a nose dive in quality. However, this demo is excellent. Completely surprised me. I actually think I’ll pick this one up.

ok i tested both. first forza 3 and shift are diferents games, u see forza is about amazing graphics and simulation driving. but shift is speed and speed xD, shift doesnt have the graphics from forza looks like undercover exactly the same, but the cockpit view give a totally look to this game, is like a real car. forza doesnt have a view like that with that feeling but have the graphics the cars and the tracks. like i said totally diferents games, so i will buy both, forza for simulation. shift for the speed

This demo makes me think the game is worth buying, too bad I missed Amazon’s buy it for 40 bucks deal. After a deal like that I can’t persuade myself to buy the game till I see an equally good deal. That’s OK though, there’s plenty of other games to keep me occupied.

Ahahaha, I love that comment. “The cockpit view ist just annoying”. Sorry I’m laughing my ass off. The Cockpit View is the closest to a real driving experience so far. I don’t get it when ppl want a race simulation … and then say the cockpit is annoying when the G-Force and such shakes you quite well… Meh.

Some guys always have something to moan about tehehe.

I rented the full game, and yeah it can be a tough one, especially since cars handle like crap sometimes (slipping and sliding everywhere).

This game is terrible. Time the ‘Need For Speed’ franchise came to a end me thinks

It’s getting good reviews mostly – but I think not because it’s good, but because it’s “good for a need for speed title”. Either that or because EA advertises on all the major review websites.
    .
Honestly – everything this game tries to do, GRID already did and did better. Download the GRID demo if it’s still available, and you’ll be rewarded with some really solid arcadey racing gameplay.

I was a little let down by this game, the graphics are poor – albeit, visuals being the lowest denominator between consoles – that is to b expected. However, the cockpit view and the blurred effects are quite a nice touch. Collisons from the cockpit view are indeed very intense, but from behind the vehicle view it’s pretty much the same as every other generic racer out there, ho-hum.

While I didn’t like Forza 3 as much as I had anticipated it to be, I prefer it over this title. This game has style though, but lacks in the overall department of gameplay mechanics, but it does its best at doing what it’s got, though. Forza, on the other hand has no such style coherent with ‘Shift’, but more than makes up for it in terms of said gameplay mechanics.

Glad EA churned out this Demo, as I was very keen on picking it up from an online store for cheap – where I’m situated – seeing as it got rave reviews from the gaming community. Unfortunately, this is a pass from me.

A “Skullcandy Cadillac Hoodie” is now available for 360 avatars but it resets your facial features (nose, chin, etc). Getting sloppy, QA.

@a Master Ninja, I’m not surprised at all. It was sloppy to begin with. I have a chiseled jaw in the real world, and thus, it would serve my virtual self, my Avatar to have the same jaw, no? But as soon as I equip a suit (or preview a suit, or helmet, in this case) like the Halo ODST one, my jaw disappears into a much, much narrower one.g

Then there’s the Quicksilver Split Decision Tank Top, this top removes any wrist accessories that your avatar has equipped. I’ve messaged the ‘Major Nelson’ about this but to no avail.

I loved this demo… exactly what I love and want in racing games.. I probably wouldn’t like this if it wasn’t in cockpit view.. SOo good.

Great looking game, terrible handling model. Don’t be confused – this isn’t a sim. It’s arcade through and through and I’m definitely not buying.

I bought the game. It’s great! And that’s coming from someone who hates the NFS franchise usually. I love the driver levelling and stars for how you drive (aggressive, precision). It’s an arcade racer and so if you’re expecting Forza physics then – buy forza. I too prefer racing sims, but this is a great arcade racer and worth getting if you’re into your racers.

The demo was good, but one thing was a big dissepointment.. It only runs at 30 fps…
Racing games should run at 60 fps like they did on older consoles like Dreamcast and Gamecube.
