@Kroesis WHAT??? “I’m in just about the mid range of things for income tax” what does that even mean? Having a job doesn’t mean you can afford it. Judging by your obligations and the fact that you’re complaining about it, means you can’t afford it. I doubt you make much, since you used the word “leftover” in a description to your lack of funds. I do commend you though, for having your priorities in order. The price of things goes UP, thats one of the facts of life. It would be nice to pay 1.25 a gallon for the same gase thats now 3.50 but, what am I going to do walk. HAHHAHAHAHAHA

@CARNAGE RULES: I was just trying to get across that I’m not on income support or work on base wages, but I don’t earn masses of cash. I can afford it but I would rather spend my money on something I believe is better value due to, as you point out, my financial priorities, that’s all. I realise I come off like I’m complaining about it and perhaps I have spoken out about my view of the map pack’s value rather too loudly but I’d hate to see other DLC following suit. Mind you, you’re right, price of things do go up unfortunately.

Most of the comments seem to point out “oh, you won’t buy, you’re haters” or “you buy, you’re a moron”. I can easily afford 1200 MP for buying on Xbox LIVE, it’s not a question of money but a question of common sense.
Most of you don’t know that in Europe we have a change euro=dollar 1:1 and it’s much more expensive for me than an American guy. 15 euros are not 15 dollars. If I could pay in dollars, maybe I would buy everything without thinking too much.
The point is that 1200 MP for 3 new maps + 2 old maps is way too much. My Two cents. And I’m playing it since day one.

What everyone is forgetting is that if you bought the Stimulus on Day 1 you also got the NVGs for your Avatar! How could 1200 be a rip off for 5 maps AND “free” avatar stuff? I bought the first pack, and have yet to play…BFBC2 is so much more fun, and the amount of free content (whether it works or not DR PEPPER!) makes it a much better game experience. Throw in Red Dead and Alan Wake, and I am pretty sure I can stay busy without dropping another 1200pts for “new” maps on an old game. The sad thing is that I get most my points for about half price…and I still don’t think it is worth it.

here how i put it simply:

people WANTED maps to be put in CoD. then, when it comes in people complain. Seriously, stop complaining theyre giving you good maps at a slightly higher price. if you dont want it, dont tell everyone about it. just go whine in youre corner here is for people who want to actually talk about the maps, not about if they buy it or not

@Shinji257, you can’t play a game of MW2 without running into someone who obviously glitched. I can’t log into Live without getting a message asking me to pay 1600points to join a 10th prestige lobby. If MS was really doing something about it, people might actually be worried that their accounts would be suspended. The enforcement team, in my experiece, is a joke. Instead of suspending people who advertise modded lobbies in their profile, they suspend accounts for the dumbest reasons (my buddy’s got banned for having the word “Nuts!” as his quote). They say they review every complaint but they don’t. We all know it takes a certain amount of complaints to trigger a forced name change even if your name doesn’t violate the ToS. Since MW2 is the only game I play online, I seriously doubt I will renew my Gold account until the glitches go away. Sorry but I expect to receive better service with my $50/year and not to be lied to.

@KP ScuzzyBunny, everyone got free NVG.

@Kroesis, CARNAGE RULES is a troll with nothing better to do with his time. Best just to skip over whatever he writes. 🙂

@name333: The cost of the maps and if the person is going to purchase it or not is completely on topic and what these threads are for, to give feedback on the article and the subject of the article, whining and praising alike.

@mccalejk: Yeah.. I know but even trolls need to eat!

I’ll listen to the show sometime(free).

The only reason I bought the Stimulus Package was because I managed to get 2100 Microsoft Points for £4.00. So 1200 out 2100 is a bargain, might I had 1200 points is pretty ridiculous if you ask me(if you paid full price).

There’s no way I would have paid a tenner for the 1200.

The newer maps, I will NOT be buying. 5 new maps, 2 from COD 4 (what I already have). 3 maps for a tenner is just laughable. If people don’t buy int this crap then they will charge less within time. If you just moan, and moan, but bought them anyway, then they will take as much as they can out of you!

I will be passing on this one. Why do we have to pay for maps that already exist on the first modern warfare. Why can’t I pay 5 dollars to port all the maps from the first game to work on the second one? Like Rock Band or guitar hero.

i have no idea why they keep putting this high price tags on their maps. and i also bet they do not read any of the fan comments we put on. but at the end of the day people buy it cause they have no choice but to play with buddies.

I’ll stay away from the overpriced DLC. Almost half are rehashed maps with no expansion of co-op. Bobby Kotick is licking his fingers clean.

There was a point where I stopped reading comments for this post, and it was just when I saw some replies pleople handed to kroesis.
    .
Dear God, when did having a real mature life became an issue ? are you serious guys ? I mean, It’s not so hard to understand what he’s trying to say, Jesus…
    .
This month I’ve purchased like 4 games and they’re no bargains, like Alan Wake or Red Dead Redemption… and make no mistake it’s not my birthday nor ‘pa or ‘ma gave me those. I can afford them and my girlfriend is ok with it as long as we can keep paying the bills but hey… that doesn’t mean I will go wasting my money blindly.
    .
I’d rather go spend $15 on comicbooks, music or just going to the theathre instead of paying for poor extra game content wich I will hardly ever play. I mean, here is my prestige ed. sitting on the shelf gathering dust as I’ve played it for about half an hour and never got back to play it.
    .
As someone else have said, it’s about the principle. If you reader, love MW2 amongst all other things on life and play on regular basis I’ll admit it’s ok for you to have the add-on packs, but what may be worthwile for you, won’t be for others. I see no need to fight for this.
    .
Sticking to the topic, IMHO it’s worthless DLC. For good example of worthy DLC take GTA’s or Fallout’s as example, not just three map packs, no matter it’s halo or cod.

I am thoroughly enjoying the 1 star rating this post has. Especially considering that 1 star is the lowest you can rate! That’s like a zero average. Gamers aren’t happy with this crap!!!

Of course the price is fair, they have to replace the staff who left and hiring isn’t cheap 🙂

So many people I agree with in this discussion, so many different points of view. Like others here I am an older gamer, I am able to purchase my own games without too many budget implications and have an extensive library. I purchase DLC when it updates storylines (AC2, Fallout, GTA4) or adds to my Forza Garage, but extra maps? Sorry guys. You lost me at Halo when I purchased two of the packs and then you released them all on the ODST disc. Money Burned. (Don’t get me started on the fact that the US$ Vs AU$ is almost on par but we are still paying more for the content and LIVE.)
Why should we pay extra for maps that were on the old game? Why is that the price so high? Hell, the stimulus package hasn’t even started to gather dust yet, do we even need more?
Didn’t the US Gov’t INJECT funds into the budget to get things going again? If so why are we being charged ridiculous amounts of money for a stimulus? Shouldn’t they be paying us?
It’s all about corporate greed, they have the biggest selling game EVER, and yet they cannot see fit to share the love with the punters and at least give us a couple of maps free. How many billions did this game make in the first week?
And now I hear they (Activision) are teaming up with Bungie?

    God help us all.

So instead of actually releasing all the new maps as one download and then a vintage pack option, you will be forced once again to pay for new maps tossed in with old maps. Way to fail!

This franchise has officially been Guitar Heroed. I’m done with it for a while, unless I decide to fill my back-log (only started playing at WaW and already sick of the franchise). You can easily find MW1 for less than one of these map packs. That’s what happens when you flood the market…

Yet another example where a $60 games turns into a $90 game. Someone buying this game for the first time will have to fork over another $30 in order to play this game online because no one plays just the original maps anymore. This raping of the consumer has to stop.
