i can tell i have been spoiled by the past deals of the week when the first thing that comes to mind when i see this week’s deal is: “that’s it?”. one deal on dlc for a game that not everyone owns is definitely a step back from weeks where multiple arcade games, dlc and avatar gear were all on sale at once.

Or…get it on the PC for free. What a deal.

And yet still free on PC from the start. And free to play on PC in the first place, too. Why do you ask for money for this, Microsoft?
To be fair, Valve can go **** themselves too.

Pitiful effort. Looks like this week there isn’t a Deal of the Week.

…How much is it regularly?… 400 points? Wow, what a deal! (And yeah, I’m with everyone else – get it for FREE on PC).

@Exu, that’s not being fair. This is entirely Microsoft. They aren’t fans of free DLC. Believe me, Valve would love to support the 360 version of their games as strongly as they do on the PC.

@QualityJeverage, but they can at least put some sort of pressure to microsoft, as saying we are going to do this game exclusive to xbox 360 but you need to release all the dlc for free, or something like that. Or at least say that they want the dlc to have the cheapest cost like less than 400 points or something like that, they couldve done something. And i dont think microsoft gets all the earnings from every sale this DLC has, so its like valve isnt doing anything about it.

This is just pathetic, Larry. You need to let them know that…Put some older XBLA games on too.

@Exu, if Valve were being jerks, they would be charging for the DLC on PC as well. Valve has created a value priced digital distribution marketplace that is fair to gamers. That’s not even counting all the free mods available for their games. Compare Steam to Games on Demand and you will see what a joke XBL is by comparison.

I recommend people primarily switch to PC or PS3 gaming, going forward. It will be interesting to see just how steamworks works on PS3. If you are already invested in 360, then just use it for the occasional exclusive. Buying multiplayer Arcade games is a waste of money, because the community quickly dies out a few weeks after launch. Think about how many games you could buy on Steam, with the annual price of XBL. Also, XBL is very slow compared to PC, with severe bandwidth throttling by MS. 360 tech is so old now (and running for a couple more years) that even budget PCs can easily outperform it at 720P or higher (most 360 & ps3 games aren’t even rendered at this high of a resolution).

I bought The Passing the day it came out, and it was sooo hard to find people playing this online. It was dead then (no pun intended), and I’m willing to bed not a single person is playing L4D2 online anymore today.😦

Save your money on this one

I’m betting that if Valve did nothing, the L4D dlc would all be 800pts, since MS has created a “Marketplace of value”, which basically means MS created inflated pricing by controlling the price of everything available in the marketplace. People putting DLC for free or cheaper than what’s already available would undermine the manufactured value of older DLC.

It’s a good week. This deal says to me “Hey, save your points, buy Comic Jumper in a few weeks time”

I meant Valve are jerks to 360 owners. Where’s our TF2 updates we were promised eons ago?
Why didn’t they fight harder to not make money off console owners with DLC? Oh yeah, because money.
You think Valve doesn’t like seeing their bank balance increase because of the console players they deem inferior?
And now Microsoft’s sent Valve’s nose between Sony’s firmly parted bumcheeks. Cue a slow golf clap.

Wow there’s a lot of complainers on here. I’m not gonna get it either because I haven’t played either L4D game yet, but for those xbox gamers that don’t play on PC, it’s still a deal. And we’re talking about $7 be discounted to $4 and it’s $0 online. A lot of anger over $7.

Valve’s Gabe Newell recently came out and said they are unable to support their games on the Xbox 360 as much as they’d like because Microsoft charges developers for every update you make to a game.

He classified their criteria as a “train wreck”.

I have to agree with the others that this is a rather dissapointing Deal of the Week. Not only is for DLC that people shouldn’t even have to pay for (If not for Microsofts policy on Updates forcing a charge), but it’s only for one piece of DLC. All in all, rather lackluster.
